In case it wasn't clear, both Collan and Niil can start taking pips in Lightsabre. It's a dex-based skill.
-
I need CPs :D
-
I gave you a ton. :) You blew them all on other things. :)
-
:P True...like lightsaber repair...and uping other skills
-
Sorry . . . it might take a bit to get my training post up. Things are pretty stop-start-stop-start at work today, and I also tend to be long-winded in my posts. :P
-
So, my sheet shows that I have 16 CP to spend. 10 left in reserve in anticipation of Jedi training, 5 from the adventure with Ch'lana, and 1 more for Niil's training session.
If Niil was successful, what skills can he now get? I'm guessing it's similar to Collan (ie. 1D Control, the Concentrate power, Lightsaber and Lightsaber Repair)?
-
You need to spend 10cp to gain Control 1D, and the Concentration power.
You're then free to spend CP on Lightsabre, Lightsabre Repair.
-
Sorry, I should've asked this in my original question: Does the Concentrate power also cost CP? Or do you get that for free when you first buy the Control?
-
You get it for free with the D
-
Cool. I'll have to allocate my points later; I don't have access to my CS here.
-
Generally, when you add a pip to a Force power, you learn a power as part of that process.
Alternately, you can learn a power for 5cp and skip adding a pip.
-
Sorry, I need a rules refresher . . . can we buy a pip each in the Control skill and Concentrate power right after we've gotten said skills/powers?
Also . . . silly question, but I'm guessing we don't have to pay 1.5x the CP cost for Lightsaber Repair skill as long as Ch'lana is around to teach us?
-
You need to spend 10 CP to get Control at 1D. That comes with the Concentrate power.
All costs for anything Jedi related are normal, including lightsabre repair. You have a qualified teacher.
-
Okay, Niil has 16 CP available, so here's what he's getting:
1D Control Force skill (with Concentrate) = 10 CP
Lightsaber repair raised from 2D+2 to 3D = 2 CP
4 CP remaining.
-
Craig are we playing out the remaining training still?
-
I've covered everything Ch'lana was going to teach you this go.
-
I meant the other powers we'd requested.
-
Yes, you're good there.
-
So, regarding the techniques that Nightshade taught me . . . does that still fall under the Brawling skill, or can it be counted towards Advanced Martial Arts? I'm not sure how to categorize this.
-
Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed. Your teacher has dark side points I was hoping to at least read about some darker training methods at some point.
You know, Collan walks in, Ch'lana springs into action and using his lightsaber opens a deep cut in the apprentice's chest. "Hurts doesn't it? Now let's work on controlling that pain." :)
-

He was teaching you the Brawling: Martial Arts specialization. You need skill in that before you can move to advanced skills.
Also the advanced techniques are not normally taught to outsiders.
-
Oooo . . . okay, I don't have the sourcebook handy with me, but how many specializations is a PC allowed to have? Niil already has 3 of them (Blasters: Heavy Blaster Pistol, Con: Disguise and Sneak: Urban).
-

As many as you want. If are made to take 3 during character creation because it makes the math easier. You can always take a new specialization.
-
Can I grab another pip in Lightsaber Repair? I still have 4 CP left.
-
Yes. Both of you can.
I'm still allowing you to go into debt.
-
Oh! Okay, that's cool.
Just to check:
Besides Lightsaber Repair and the Brawling:Martial Arts specialty skill, is there anything else that Niil can be allowed to improve since his last CP purchases? I think the most recent purchase was 1D in Sense.
-
You can both add pips in Lightsabre, Lightsabre Repair, and Control (to the maximum I posted previously).
Niil can take a pips in Brawling: Martial Arts.
-
Sorry, Craig, I'm not trying to be dense here or flogging a dead horse . . . when you mentioned the maximum you posted previously, I can't seem to find that older reference anywhere.
-
Niil:

Collan:

Both:

I may have missed some.
-
Aha! Okay, I completely misunderstood what you were referring to there. My bad.
So I've already taken everything that's been offered except for Brawling: Martial Arts specialization. So, if my Strength attribute is 3D, then getting one pip in Brawling: Martial Arts specialization would put me at 3D+1, and should cost me 3 CP/2 = 2 CP (rounded up from 1.5), correct?
-
Correct.
-
Cool. Okay, character sheet has been updated.
-
For Soresu training:
Earned 1 CP
Cost for 1 pip in Soresu: 4 CP (now at 4D+1)
Add 3 CP to debt
-
If the character point bubble bursts like the US housing market a couple years ago y'all gonna be in trouble. :o
-
That's what a Force suggestion is for . . . ;D
-
Craig, I've been using the Lightsaber combat webpage (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber_combat/Legends) as sort of a guideline for the lightsaber training . . . as well as the lightsaber forms thread you posted.
I'm not entirely sure what Ch'lana would have shown Collan. I know he's been taught the six body target zones, the three rings of defense, a few marks of contact, the Jedi ready stances, some of the moves and maneuvers (ie. Jung) and the signature Shii-Cho maneuvers.
Is there anything else on that website that Ch'lana would have taught Collan?
-
Basic blaster blocking comes as part of Shii Cho.
Ch'lana was not big on rigorous memorization of specific zones and such. He taught forms, attacks, but did not really give them names. High strike left, high strike right. Low block left, low block right, that sort of thing. You've formalized a lot of what Ch'lana would have taught, given it names and categories. The same basic concepts, but you've formalized it.
Ch'lanan taught my example. If he managed to tag Collan in Zone 4, Ch'lana would show him a block for that specific attack, for example. He's much less concerned with rigorous repetition and more concerned with you guys learning how to do basic attacks and blocks.
-
What power did Niil use when he used the Force back in Alpha Confinement (and a FP) to detect where Collan and Ch'lana were? Can he start learning that skill now?
-
Life Detection.
Wait until the adventure wraps up, and we'll discuss it.
-
So. about Life Detection . . . ;)
-
I don't recall - did you spend a FP on it?
-
That's correct.
-
Then you have learned the power.
-
Cool! Thanks.
Now all I have to do is earn some CP . . . ;D
-
Does PROXY have either Dhoresh Kwi-Nam (Niil's old Jedi trainer) or Ch'lana on his database? I'd asked him in an old post, but it must've slipped by . . . ;)

Negative.
