[OOC: Who first? A'ka Bem would be a good spot to start. You have others - a gunsmith that specializes in "wholly legitimate weapons sales," a medic that was never too concerned about paperwork or reports as long as your credits were good, and a contact you know from the Imperial Bounty Office.
-
I put this in the OOC thread, but I guess you forgot about it. ;)
I'll head to A'ka Bem first to find out of there's a bounty on any of them outside the Karvis system.
-
Well that's just lovely. Does Trax recognize the name?
-
Names? Could be a of a dozen guys he knows. But they all work within the sector. If it's someone from outside, there's only a few he knows. One name comes to mind - Boba Fett, a high priced bounty hunter who favours working for the Hutts and other criminal gangsters. Fett has done a few high profile (in an underworld sense) jobs for Ploovo two-for-one.
-
Wow. Boba Fett. Nice knowin' ya, Trax . . . :o
-
Wow. Boba Fett. Nice knowin' ya, Trax . . . :o
Nice to know someone's got his back. :P
-
If it's Boba Fett, you'll need a Star Destroyer at your back. Remember the fun the three of us had with Blaine Nighthawk? I'm thinking he's, like, Boba Fett Lite. ;)
-
I think we had a lot of trouble with Blaine because of his armor. We needed really high damage rolls and he needed below average strength rolls to resist. I'm thinking the same will hold true for Boba Fett which is why I'm considering going on the offensive. He can't wear his armor 24/7.
-
Probably not, but he's likely got several kajillion different security measures around him. And that's not including the stuff on his ship. :P
Now, if we had a portable ion cannon, or perhaps something like a plasma flame-thrower . . .
-
The guy will be eaten by a sarlaac, kill it from inside, and escape. Just sayin'.
-
Fine, then a Death Star superlaser. :P
-
The guy will be eaten by a sarlaac, kill it from inside, and escape. Just sayin'.
That visual brings up a question, can you shoot to damage weapons and other accessories attached to armor?
-
Sure.
-
Hopefully he is not yet as skilled as he is in the movies aince it's much earlier...
-
Or at least I'm hoping in the skills that count, Trax is at least as good.
-
Or at least I'm hoping in the skills that count, Trax is at least as good.
Which skills? Running? hahaha
-
Ask him how well he drives . . .
-
Trax drives very well. It's Jex that likes to turn people riding on the top of trucks into human cannon balls.
-
Right, NOW I remember. It took awhile to recall that - y'know, with the concussion and all . . .
-
Huttese? Really?
Craig, guess I'm going to need a languages roll, 4D+1.
-
I thought we already established you understood it.
It is the defacto language of the underworld. A'ka Bem spoke it to you when you came to his shop.
-
Oh, right. I'll add it to my sheet for future reference.
-
Ho, ho, ho! Ha, ha, ha! Kasu ya lee coy rah doe kankee kung!
-
Head's Up: I'm going to need a physical description of Trax. What he's wearing and the like, visible weapons, etc.
-
He's 6'1", about 200 pounds. Short dark hair, pale green eyes, and a day or two worth of stubble on his face.
For clothing, we'll go with a crimson shirt, black pants, dark combat boots, a blast vest and a medium length dark brown coat. He's got 2 pistols, one on each thigh, and a knife strapped to his calf. On his belt he's got a number of power packs, another knife and other various personal equipment.
-
Plus the jet pack?
-
Not on him at the moment, that would be in his bag back at the room.
-
kk.
-
HAHAHAHA! Ahhh, hell, I went on the wrong mission! Who wears short-shorts?
Rodians wear short-shorts! ;D
-
Hehehe.. with a small Sweet Meats logo on each bun :D
-
Awwwww, Trax thought he was ordering food. It makes it so much funnier when he ordered something to "wash it down". ;D And a large "to go", too! Damn, the context of it all! ;D
-
Yeah, that is some seriously disturbing imagery there. :)
-
You don't know the half of it. They lay eggs like a sea turtle. :)
-
Oh . . . hell . . . stomach hurts . . . co-workers wondering what's going on . . .
-
It's going to take a lot of rye to try and get that image out of my head...
-
"Yeah baby! Fertilize those eggs!"
-
I just have to tell you guys that while searching for images of Pa'lowick females, I ran afoul of Rule 34.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_34_(Internet_meme)
[No I'm not linking it, you sickos.]
-
"Yeah baby! Fertilize those eggs!"
Ewwwwwwww! Eggs, and you're in a diner!
"Here ya go, honey! Fresh from my body and on to your plate"
-

Daw, does that mean you'd refuse fresh eggs for breakfast in Altarka? *grin*

Yeahhhh, that's just way too "Kids in the Hall" for me. :D Thinking about how those eggs were created would turn Connor green. :P
Unless it's an immaculate conception chicken . . .
-
Hens don't need a rooster to make eggs. unless you want baby chicks.. now, eating that egg might turn me green...
So I guess technically breakfast eggs are made by immaculate conception? xD
-
HA! No, no, I was thinking of Nim handing Connor a few raw or boiled eggs (ie. still in shell) for breakfast. I can see him eyeing them for a few moments, and then turning pale. Then green. Then trying to figure out how to broach the subject of druid Wild Shape biology (ie. ummmm, so whatever happens in elven form . . . stays in elven form?) ;D
-
Pfft. beggars can't be choosers! ;D
-
With that kind of doubt? Oh, hell yes, he can. :D
Maybe we should move this to the General board? Guaranteed Trax is gonna fill this one up on his fun little mission . . .
-
Well I can't post this little gem without context :P anyone used to watch Sealab? :P
http://youtu.be/F6ROXLtorwY?t=2m3s (http://youtu.be/F6ROXLtorwY?t=2m3s)
-
HAHAHAHA! All you had to do was mention "Sealab" and I knew the episode you were talking about! ;D
-
Bizzzzaaaaarrrrrroooooo!
I'm helping. I'm helping you! *dumps salt on disembodied head*
-
"I laid an egg for you!"
Hehehe! One of my favorite episodes. But Der dieb still wins all.
"I dub thee Sir Phobos, Knight of Mars, Beater of Ass. Be a hitter, babe."
-
Reading stuff like this makes me glad I grew up with only 3 channels that didn't really have much that was interesting to watch anyway. Well, aside from Looney Tunes, watching characters get shot, blown up, fall off cliffs or have heavy objects fall on them never gets old. :)
-
<makes a mental note>

This is all 2002. Hardly childhood. Well, sort of.. I was pretty rebellious that year :P

Ken, I haven't forgotten about you. Nim's been a little busy off-screen. She's also may need a change of underwear, so we'll need a little time yet. :)
Sorry for the delay. :)
-
No problem. I've been getting some interesting message in hangouts. :)
Really makes me want to know what she's finding.

That's only a problem with RL knowledge. At least when it's in game, you know it's made up (and hopefully not based on some nasty RL knowldege). :)

True. :)

-
Oh, so next stop will be for getting a fake license to carry those bad boys. Or are they bad girls? Either way, Trax is one very happy, and extremely dangerous person right now.
-
Oh god, I suddenly feel like an enabler.. ;D
-
Actually, the legal term
would will be 'accomplice'. :)

Meh, Caelli-Merced Sentinel IV are better. And in Trax's hands, they'd be even deadlier.

Hahaha. I wasn't worried about stats. Maybe I should have been :P
-
Aaaaaaa! Niil wants two as well!
-
What do you want all that firepower for, hippy? ;D
-
Defensive fire. Convincing warning shots. ;)

Trax calls those head shots. :)

I'm going to let that one go. :)

No, that's the thermal detonators he uses as "flash-bangs". ;D

Which? Boom, headshot! Or the post? Mwaha
-
At a course today, hoping to get a post up here and on Altarka tonight.
-
No sweat.
-
[OOC: I should have said I was pausing here for reactions / actions. If you guys have nothing to add, we'll move along.]
I don't really, just following his lead atm.
-
So we're talking 2000K per? Time to dip into rebel funds. I'll throw an IOU for the receipt. :)
-
Yes, 2k per identity, includes licenses for the hand cannons.
-
Ha, what's it take to get the rebels to pay for mine too? :P
-
Not sure you want to find out. :P
-
Would a permit be for a specific restricted weapon or cover them in general? It just dawned on me that I should have something for my vibrodagger and neural whip.
-
Well, I suppose you could say the neural whip was for your dominatrix . . . ;D
-

They are generally specific. Includes serial numbers.
-
If they're off and the power packs removed, are they likely to be picked up by a scan?
-
Yes, resonance scans can detect electronic devices. Not every checkpoint makes use of resonance scans, however.
I wasn't aware you took the neural whip with you on this trip. :) Neural whips are very nasty devices, even by Trax's standards.
-
I'm actually thinking of trying to sell it.
-
I'm sure that there's some wild clubs around the red-light district that would take it off your hands.
-
Well, I suppose you could say the neural whip was for your dominatrix . . . ;D
But I'd need a license too then...
-
Submitting names for aliases, Aiden Cole and Aurren Kahn.
-
Kasari Kata please :)
-
I have a holdout and vibrodagger as well. Certainly no nasty thing like you've got but you've got me worried :P
-
Just for clarity, your new ID's are not paper or plastic documents. Star Wars is generally a paperless society, though flimsyplast is used from time to time.
Your ID's are a cryptographically signed chip in a plastic holder (similar in form factor to a MicrsoSD card) that includes a mini holographic display. The chip holds encoded genetic data and various salient points about your identity. At standard checkpoints, only the data on the card is checked. At higher end checkpoints, the data is compared to the identity repository on the Imperial Network to ensure the data is accurate. The chip includes tamper-protection technology to verify the data has not been altered.
To pull off ID's that would pass Imperial Inspection, your contact must have access to Imperial cryptographic keys, and a way to alter the Imperial database.
They should be good enough for standard Imperial checkpoints, but there are clues if someone goes digging. For example, if someone does a search for just the genetic data, they could pull up multiple ID's, which would flag them as potentially fraudulent. The Empire also runs integrity checks on their citizens from time to time specifically looking for signs of fraud, and those would burn the ID's you now hold. If that happens before six months are up, you can get new ones made free of charge. That's the only guarantee he can make.
There is always a risk with fake ID's, and that risk goes up the closer you go to the core worlds.
It's also possible that Imperial Intelligence has flagged a genetic trace for detention, regardless of the ID the trace matches. That has been known to happen, though rarely, and such things are not generally network-wide unless the individual sought was extremely valuable to the Empire. The Empire has also been known to deploy genetic sniffers, technology that able to passively sample thousands of genetic traces out of the air. People leave genetic fragments just walking around, so in high-risk or sensitive areas, such sniffers can scan large crowds for potential targets. If a sensor gets tripped, areas are locked down and detailed genetic scans are done on all occupants of the area until the target is found.
In the mid-rim (where you are), you've heard of these things happening, but never seen them directly. It's not a common occurrence this far out, but it would be more common the closer you are to the core worlds.
So, the ID's are good and buried deep in the network, but are not perfect.
I just wanted to make sure you understood the risks.
-
Besides avoiding an area altogether, are there any methods of spoofing genetic sniffers?
-
A hermetically sealed suit might work, if you were really careful about cleaning it after you put it on...
-
Ahh, the future :P
-
Is there a cantina or other watering hole close to our room? I'm thinking of asking Doha and Nim to get a drink and Trax will join them shortly.
-
Sure, there's several to choose from. There is also one attached to the hostel.
-
Just fyi, Trax might be hot on Doha and Nim's heels.
He just needs to ask Rand a question or two.
-
That's fine. I figured.
-
Fyi I'm not holding up for trax, I just need to think on my reply. Haven't played the pc enough to pound out a post yet :)
-

And it's even harder when you're not trying to give another PC a hard time right? :P
-
Unbelievably so :P
-
Going to be busy-ish til monday, just fyi. I'll probably find a few minutes to post but no promises :)
-
"Not sure.
I haven't seen anything from him yet." Trax replied to Nim, unsure why she might think Bem would send the data to her instead of him.
For reasons I said! For reasons! xD

Sorry, a little extra sleep deprived today. Couldn't fall asleep again last night after puttin Cae down. Had to read the Altarka posts, and my replies over and over before things made sense.
-
How long has it been since we got our IDs, and will there be a security check point we have to go through to leave the station?
-
Yeah, there's a checkpoint to get to the docking ring.
It's been about an hour.
-
Jodoba is awfully expensive thar for a diner ;D
-
When you're spending someone else's creds, does it matter? :)
-
Not to inconsiderate asshats. But I'd like to think Nim at least considers not being an asshat sometimes :)
-
Oh and besides, I didn't spend any of your money there :D
-
Ohhhhh . . . NOW the name StarKiller/Galen Marek finally clicks in. The video game and the novels.
Oh, frakkety frak . . .
-
No spoilers! :D
-
Never played the game, never read the novels, but I still think this is going to be our toughest encounter yet.
-
Well, Galen's probably a bit younger now than he was for most of the novels, so likely he won't have the power to seize and crash a Star Destroyer with The Force. Yet. But yeah, I'm guessing that he'd make Boba Fett look like Jar-Jar Binks in comparison.
-
Fair warning:
I'm not overly concerned about following the cannon story. I know Galen has plenty of history in the extended universe, but remember that this adventure is not on rails or scripted in any way. You're not observing events play out like a movie: your characters are actively involved, and can change the course of events in small or large ways.
There's a very real possibility that the leaders of the newborn Rebel Alliance will die, along with their senior aids. If that happens, it will set the rebellion back, possibly by decades. There's also a possibility that you might pull off amazing things here, and set the Rebels up far in advance of where they were at this time according to cannon. It's even mathematically possible (on the order of .000001%) that the Empire might end on this adventure.
The actual outcome fall somewhere on a continuum between those extremes. I have no idea how it is going to turn out (though some endings are more likely than others). Remember my survival guide, and conduct yourselves accordingly.
When I envisioned how this would play out, my crystal ball indicated a strong probability that all of you would be involved. I find it very amusing and quite entertaining that out of all of you, Trax is the only original character picking up this story at the moment. :)
-
Sorry; in my last OOC post I should have said, "But that's if Craig follows the novels and runs Galen accordingly."
-
I find it very amusing and quite entertaining that out of all of you, Trax is the only original character picking up this story at the moment. :)
Because he's the most invested in the rebellion right? :P
-

The irony . . . oh, the irony . . .
-
Even if the story went the straight canon route, that's actually an overall good thing in the end :P there were multiple alternate endings and none of them were happy endings for star wars.
Up until Darren said something I hadn't remembered why I recognized the name either. It's a hugely long, extremely complicated, but really good story.
-
Damn, Trax is showing remarkable restraint in talking to this pilot. I expected Trax to have a heavy blaster pistol rammed halfway up the guy's left nostril by now. ;D
-
I suspect Trax respects someone able to sass when faced with impending violent death. :)
-
Craig's basically nailed it. Tormax is being given a lot of leeway because Trax finds him highly amusing. But Trax also knows he's in a bit of a bind. Were this trip not urgent, Trax could fly the ship himself, but getting there quickly requires a skilled pilot. That also factors in to the negotiations.
Having said that, if push really came to shove, Trax would have no problems blasting the kid's kneecap to make his point. It's one of those little quirks that makes him so lovable. :)
-
Fyi I'm waiting on le pilot to speak.
-
How difficult a roll would it be to jetpack off the ship while Tormax does his flyover?
-
Very easy.
Landing safely however... :)
Depending on terrain, you're looking at a difficult landing. It depends on speed, terrain and local weather conditions. It could be easier or harder, but you're looking at "Difficult" so 16-20 or so.
-
Damn, I really need to up my jetpack skill...
With a few cp's, it's an option anyway.
