[ooc: Craig...would using a FP to concentrate and slice records be considered a heroic use since I'm doing it to save the senators?]
I'm not going to pre-declare use of force point as heroic - that is very situational and context is critical to that determination.
-
Is there anything Trax can do to help Nim down? Someone's a little concerned about the DC. :)
-
Oooo, boy. Unless any of us have blaster rifles, I think the stormtroopers are all out of range.
-
Darren, sure you don't want to prep for the jump? Unless I'm mistaken your MAP for resisting the dark side is in play for all rolls so you'll lose 1D on the roll.
-
Oh, for eff sake, I forgot about that, too.
Okay, IC post being amended again.
-
Then I'm glad I mentioned it. Last thing we need is almost half our team injured before the fun even starts. :)
-
That's the danger of one-trick ponies... a relatively minor hurdle can seriously blunt your amazing skills in other areas. :)
(I know you guys have been working on expanding your skills, but I saw a teachable moment and went for it. :) )
-
Hey! Trax knows 2 tricks, how to shoot AND how to dodge shots! Call me a one trick pony... :P
-
I need a quick refresher, are the increased DCs to hit for range categories added to the targets dodge roll?
-

More CPs could help flesh out those other areas . . . ;D
-
A thought on the jump for our wet behind the ears jedi, could you use the concentrate power? You'd likely only end up with 1D extra on the roll with MAPs, but 1D can make a big difference.
-
I already asked, and it would mean that I wouldn't be able to do anything else that round. Including Dodging.
-
True. But Trax and Ch'lana have the troopers attention, and Trax is closing with them as they are with him. I doubt they'd switch to a threat that's further away before dealing with one that's closing on them.
-
2D in alter is the better deal for doing climbing jumping

As someone who has no real clue on force powers, how so?
-

You have a DC for the shot. It is based on range, cover, and the opponent's dodge. All three factors combine into one target number you need to meet to hit.
-

I recently gave you 25 CP's. You put them into a wide variety of skills, which is good. But it'll take time to build up from the stacking you were doing before. :)
-

Concentration precludes doing anything that round -but- the concentrated-on ability. So if they concentrate on jump, they will not get a dodge that round. Concentration can be very dangerous in combat situations.
-

For now. All it takes is a stray shot, and they would have to sit there and eat it. It's also fairly obvious to others on the battlefield that they're not defending themselves, and would make easier targets.
-

Okay thanks. Can you let me know when Trax is within 50M of one of the troopers, that's the max range on his pistols.
-
As someone who has no real clue on force powers, how so?
Once they learn telekinesis, they can use their Alter skill to help several different skills. Climbing / Jumping, Lifting, defensive rolls such as Dodge or Melee parry - there are a number of applicable situations.
Using the Force, they can make themselves (or other objects) effectively lighter, or used the Force to deflect an enemy melee or brawling attack.
In game terms, they can add their Alter dice to a number of applicable skills and situations. At 1D Alter, it's actually a negative. At 2D it's break-even. But once they are at 3D in Alter, it is worth the MAP to gain bonus dice.
-
Okay thanks. Can you let me know when Trax is within 50M of one of the troopers, that's the max range on his pistols.
No sweat. Pick one to close with and I'll let you know.
The troopers are numbered 1-8 moving clockwise from the left.
-
Let's start with lucky number 3.
What's with the red dot by the control panel?
-
That's the history eraser button, you fool! Don't touch eet! ;D
-
What's with the red dot by the control panel?
Oh, he's an unlabelled Stormtrooper. Call him #9.
-
Oh, he's an unlabelled Stormtrooper. Call him #9.
Then he's my target.
-
Can I reach the top of the walkway this round?
-
Possibly. A double move and your bracer could get you up there.
-
BTW, did anyone else notice how far Ch'lana jumped in a single round? Wow . . .
Yeah, that was nuts. Pretty much cleared a football field.
-
Because you have a fairly reliable chance of hitting the difficulty to launch yourself. :)
Craig...how is the prep going to work for reactive dodge or does it only apply to active skill use? I was going to have Collan advance to take a shot and prep along the way the way.
-
You can't really prep for a reactive skill use.
Preparation means you in effect spend twice as long doing a task, and doing nothing but that task, and get a +1D when you make the roll. A good example is Blaster. You can spend a round doing nothing but aiming, and get a +1D on the attack on the second round. No movement, no dodge, just aiming. If you want to move, you can't prep.
-
So is my reactive dodge also affected by the Dark Side interference?
-
Yes, as far as MAP goes.
-
That does it. Niil's grabbing a stormtrooper's blaster rifle as soon as he can. :P
-
heavies do nice damage, but they're very short range. :)
-
And Trax's borrowed heavies do even more damage than the normal ones.
As for range, well that's where a very high dodge skill comes into play. :)
-
Indeed. :)
-
Trying to get in to heavy blaster pistol range reminds me of Sir Lancelot's charge across the open field in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
-
HAHA Very true!
-
Are any of the stormtroopers on the east walkway calmly eating potatoes while Collan and Niil come at them? ;D
-
One is shooting at Trax, and the other is waiting to see your beady little eyes so he can try and drop you.
-
Would that mean if Niil or Collan doesn't draw the shot this round the trooper will get a +1D bonus for prepping the next round?
-
Not if he's busy eating his potato for lunch.
-
Would that mean if Niil or Collan doesn't draw the shot this round the trooper will get a +1D bonus for prepping the next round?
No, he doesn't have a target to aim at. He can't prepare to shoot someone if he can't see the someone.
-
One is shooting at Trax, and the other is waiting to see your beady little eyes so he can try and drop you.
I snorted.
-
One is shooting at Trax, and the other is waiting to see your beady little eyes so he can try and drop you.
I snorted.
I outright laughed. ;)
-
Holstering is considered an action right? Can a blaster rifle be fired one handed?
-
It can... I think there's be a penalty due to lack of stability.
And yes, holstering is an action.
-
Any chance I could grapple my way into the control room?
-
Are the second-level walkways solid (ie. could I see the troopers up there while underneath the walkways)?
-
Any chance I could grapple my way into the control room?
Like grapple up there, smash the window and swoop in? :)
Those are vacuum rated windows, so there's not standard glass.
Are the second-level walkways solid (ie. could I see the troopers up there while underneath the walkways)?
No it's a grating. Solid enough to protect from blaster fire, but porous enough to see what's going on up there.
-
[Ken, where are you on your shots remaining?]
In my OOC remarks, RB = right blaster, LB = left blaster. As of my last post, which I updated to include the count, shots remaining are RB = 24, LB = 23
-
Where are my rocket boots and space mask? I really don't like hard vacuum for a meal.
-
Craig...how high up and how far away is that control room? Would blaster fire shatter the glass?
-
Possible blaster fire might do it, but you'd need damage numbers well above average. It's starfighter scale, and built to withstand an explosive decompression.
The control room is 45m above the floor, jutting out into the upper area of the docking bay.
-
Who's got the best demolitions skill? Could rig an bomb from the troopers rifle power packs, perhaps.
-
Niil's got a Demolitions skill of 3D, but Ch'lana has a lightsaber. ;)
And so does Trax, if I recall. Didn't he take one from the dark Jedi that Ch'lana killed back on the prison ship?
-
Yes, he took the lightsaber from the dark jedi, as well as collected all the cortosis enhanced force pikes. They, along with many other of his toys are safely secured under the giant pile of rubble that used to be the northern base on Karvis.
-
Doh :(
-
So interesting question...would you allow someone without lightsaber skill to use one as a cutting tool? Seems like it wouldn't be complicated to point the dangerous end at something and hold it there.
-
<shrug> Han used one to slice open a tauntaun. Using it as a tool is not an issue. Fighting with it, the gyroscopic effect kicks in and makes it difficult to use. Any rapid movement (such as for fighting) and the effect kicks in.
-
Are the blast doors open to exit? And could we use the control panel to the upper left to override the control room? Or at least get us out?
-
Stupid internet on iPad...
-
Ummm, I think you got the OOC board by mistake, Nightshade-san. ;D
-
Nightshade couldn't help but smile at Niil issuing orders...
I think Trax and Nightshade are going to get along really well. :)
-
Until one of us offers to teach him how to use a lightsaber. >:D
-
Until one of us offers to teach him how to use a lightsaber. >:D
And the Force. He's already scary enough :P
-
Until one of us offers to teach him how to use a lightsaber. >:D
And the Force. He's already scary enough :P
Oooooo, can you imagine him as Force-capable and with two lightsabers? Bwahahahahahah!
Vader: "Join me, Nightshade! You don't know the power of . . ."
ZZZZZZZWIKKKKK!
*THUMP*
Nightshade (nudging aside Vader's head with a toe): "Apparently you don't know, either, Vader-sama."
-
Are the blast doors open to exit? And could we use the control panel to the upper left to override the control room? Or at least get us out?
The blast doors are sealed. Nim is heading towards the control panel with purpose, so presumably she has a plan.
-
With the glass now cracking, would hitting it with a few blaster bolts help at all or are we still looking at needing significantly higher than average damage rolls to make a difference?
-
Is he only telling Nightshade to go?
-
Nightshade is close, aware of the window breaking, and has the means to make it through a 1mx1m window 45 meters off the deck.
If one of you have the means to make it through the window, by all means go ahead.
-
Does Trax have his jetpack and a strong helmet? ;D
-
Trax already had his body used to put a hole in a structure, it's someone else's turn. :)
-
We'd be talking a very difficult jet pack roll to get through in a controlled fashion as well right?
-
Damn, too bad those walkway ladders are only two levels high. I was thinking of cutting them loose and slapping them up against the wall to the control room.
Mind you, the ladders might also be a few hundred kilos each . . .
-
I feel like there's just no time for any of that stuff. But that just might be Craig's wonderful suspenseful writing :)
-
Well, very difficult. It's a 1mx1m target, and he'd have to pass through clean.
-
Ok, I need to reinforce some ground rules. I've seen some of bleeding over of the line between IC and OOC knowledge lately. Leaps of logic, IC information for one character ending up as IC information for another character, and that sort of thing.
I was very tempted to have Collan run over to a locker and have an angry wookie pop out and attempt to de-arm him, but I relented and went this way instead. :)
It's not a huge deal, and I'm picking on Collan here because it is a handy (and minor) example, but I've noticed it a few times in the past little while. Please make sure you know where the IC and OOC line is. If in doubt, ask me in a PM or err on the side of caution.
Like I said, not a huge deal, but I want to rein it in before things start getting out of hand.
Thanks.
-
My mistake. I changed my post. Concentration on blaster to shoot imps
-
Just out of curiosity, how many people could Juno's ship hold?
-
Just out of curiosity, how many people could Juno's ship hold?
There's still some stasis pods. I guess Niil is the first volunteer :P
-
Yay! Niil gets to stay young!
. . . for a little while . . .
-
It's not that kind of stasis... :)
-
Can I see that Nim is struggling with something?
-
Can I see that Nim is struggling with something?
If it helps, she yelled that the techs were giving her problems.
-
Craig did Nim's yell register while Collan was trying to Concentrate?
-
He wasn't able to, but he's generally aware she's having trouble at the console.
-
Ben, if the techs leave the room, might want to try to disable the door controls before hopping down.
-
Nooooo dammit xD
-
The lift to/from the control room, does it connect a hallway and the room, or the docking bay and the room?
-
Can we hear the convo between Nim and Nightshade?
-
Negative. It's comlink.
-
I was curious if we're on a communal channel so we can talk.
-
She contacted Nightshade directly.
Comlinks typically operate point-to-point.
-
Peeping tom ;D
-
Tom Collans?
-
A Tom Collins? Yes please :)
-
Ew
-
What's peeping Tom Collins? Is that with an added splash of vodka or something? :)
-
So...are we good for the next round?
-
I thought jedi were supposed to be patient. :P
-
They're also supposed to be chaste. Lulz
-
They're also supposed to be chaste. Lulz
Snort. Yeah, like that's gonna happen . . .
-
They're also supposed to be chaste. Lulz
Snort. Yeah, like that's gonna happen . . .
Well, I dunno if Nim's into sharing Trax. Might want to look towards Collan for help with that no-chaste thing:P
(actually she might, but probably not with underaged wizards)
-
Niil don't swing that way, either . . . ;D
-
Really? Seemed like their was some real chemistry over the pop rock crystal experience.
-
Not nearly enough. Ugh, you people need to learn about ambience. First and most importantly is a potter's wheel and some clay . . . ;D
-
I need brain bleach...tyvm...;) :P
-
Hmm...should I be glad I missed out on this?
-
Nah, it could've been worse . . .
-
Would the control rod have a release button for the collars?
-
Yeah, you'd think that the overseer would have the release mechanism as well . . .
-
Hmmm...good point...but seeing as she doesn't know if y'all want her dead too, not quite sure she's gonna venture out that far yet...
-
Sorry guys, running behind all over the place.
-
Hmmm...good point...but seeing as she doesn't know if y'all want her dead too, not quite sure she's gonna venture out that far yet...
Oh yeah, I get that. It was just a general question. :)
-
Overseers are generally not authorized to free slaves from their collars.
-
Always waiting on the ladies, right Michelle? :) isn't that our perogative?
-
"Waiting on the ladies..."
Story of my life.
-
Ahh...Brad Paisley...good song!!

Waitin' on a Woman....
-
Oh I love you guys <3
-
:)
-
Am I alone in the control room now?
-
Yes. The two technicians are about to come out of the lift into a bunch of trigger happy rebels and wookies. :)
-
Eep. That should make for an interesting light show. :P
-
I did warn NS at least :P
-
How much of the show have I seen with Keshani?
-
Everything since Trax fired.
-
Um, won't Ch'lana and Nightshade get caught in the explosion when the wookie shoots the conduit?
-
Yes, but the Kesh probably doesn't care and I think it strays close to mixing ooc/ic...I thought about it for a while before I posted. Maybe Craig would like to chime in here?
-
Nightshade is effectively invisible to all PC's.
-
Yes, but the Kesh probably doesn't care and I think it strays close to mixing ooc/ic...I thought about it for a while before I posted. Maybe Craig would like to chime in here?
I know, it was just a general question/comment.
-
Sorry...she kinda doesn't care about the Jedi (although he IS making a nice shield right now I suppose) and doesn't know about Nightshade...
He can beat her up later for it
-
"I just know the over the shoulder block, but thenimpression I got is that the best zone four defense is to not let a zone four attack happen."
+1
-
So just to check, 2 questions.
1. Are Nil and Collan wearing their training blades in a location that would be easily visible?
2. Craig - would Keshani recognize them as belonging to a jedi? Meaning would she realize Nil and Collan are Jedi as well?
-
Collan is for sure.
-
They are just metal cylinders. She doesn't have a lot of experience with Jedi artifacts, so it's a bit of a leap at the moment. They could be spraysticks (a type of energy rifle) or weird comlinks or whatever. She might piece it together later, but for now it may be a bit of a stretch.
It's safe for you to assume that since they're working with a Jedi they are likely under the Jedi's influence.
-
Bah, I finally start working and you guys go on a posting spree :P
-
Murphys law :)
-
Ya'll have posted have a dozen times already. Let me have my one, dammit :P
-
Craig, would accessing the Death Star's computers to find the location of the senators be a Computer Repair/Programming roll?
-
Yes, but pretty sure Nim has that already.
-
Ya'll have posted have a dozen times already. Let me have my one, dammit :P
I believe you got your "one". Lol. Luv ya Michelle!
-
My experience with woman has shown that 'one' doesn't necessarily mean just 'one'. :)
-
Um, duh, especially when it comes to "one minute"
-
Um, duh, especially when it comes to "one minute"
Ouuuuuuuuuch!
-
Why in the name of the Force would we go to the Throne Room! That would be bad!!!! With a capital Oh Kark!
-
'cause that's where the computer said the senators were.
-
We are sooooooooo screwed...
-
To quote Peter Venkman . . . "Mother pus-buckets!"
-
Yeah, Nim may have neglected to mention that before. In her defence, you guys were pretty busy killing stormtroopers.
-
"The second route is viable as well but we might be stuck like womprats in a barrel if found while in the tunnels. I'd hope no one is claustrophobic."
Ha . . . all I can see is Bruce Willis trying to scramble through a vent while some dude is opening up on him with a Steyr AUG . . .
-
Oh. And to get the Emperor out of the throne room? No sweat! Just need a big enough distraction...like maybe 3 Jedi showing up elsewhere on the station...hah. Sorry. Keshani doesn't like Jedi.
-
Ok, Nim and Trax... two "D'awwww" moments in one day. I'm totally shipping them. :)
-
See? the Board needs a "Like" button. Can't we transform this into Facebook? :-p
-
:P
Aside from that :P
Just to note for Kelly and everyone else, as a Lorrdian Nim easily picks up emotions, intentions and such except from people like Nightshade that are culturally well trained not to exhibit them. Trax is obvious, the two Jedi are obvious, Ch'lana i guess she can tell he is very much trying to withhold his emotions. I know some of us try to be secretive about them and that's fine, I don't want to ruin anyone's experience. Nim's not the type to just shout it to everyone if she does pick it up.
Just keep it in mind, since it's fun for me too. The ooc line is a little blurred there so if I overstep please feel free to say so. Craig is pretty good about letting me know about the npcs but I rely on you guys for the PCs :)
In return she's still working on hiding her own body language. It's not easy. Many Lorrdians cover up head to toe but not this gal.
-
What do these downed troopers have for equipment?
-
[ooc: harshing my ANH buzz, Ken! ;)]
Sorry man, but we've already got a different droid that has the plans for the death star and I'm trying to nip any 'Aren't you a little short to be a stormtrooper' jokes in the bud. By the time we're done Lucas is going to have to re-write the whole story. :)
-
Niil or Collan might want to check with Ch'lana if he's okay playing prisoner. Nightshade I'm guessing can move about pretty much unseen? Not sure what the specs/details on his suit are.
-
I think we're just gonna move out and get the party started.
-
What do these downed troopers have for equipment?
Wrist comlink, a small battle holocam built into the helmet, a proper resonator (to open secure doors) built into their armour, and an external helmet light. The utility belt on their armour included a small attachment which could be clipped onto with an E-11 blaster rifle, thus freeing both of the trooper's arms. The belt includes 6 blaster packs and a synthrope dispenser. The armour has some sort of explosive canister on the back of the belt, but the buttons are unlabelled. Each trooper also carries 2 concussion grenades.
Each trooper had a E-11 blaster rifle.
-
Let's grab their belts and move out and get their coms. Maybe we can tap into their system and Keshani needs a com anyway.
-
...and grenades. She definitely needs grenades :)
-
...and grenades. She definitely needs grenades :)
<willsmith>Oh hell no!</willsmith>
-
Would we know if the resonator is built into the chest piece or helmet? I'm thinking of Keshani or Nim could wire up a portable power supply for the helmet we've got ourselves a makeshift key.
-
I posted looking for this "useful" stuff before but Trax stopped her, wouldn't even let her get her own rifle. Hmpf
-
The area wasn't secure at that point. It is now, although likely not for too much longer, and he won't object if she can do it quickly.
-
They had to literally step on a body to get to the other side of the door. I didn't think it was a stretch :P
-
Ooo, we do have to deal with one trooper. He's unconscious for 2d6 minutes.
-
If he's the one I stepped on he won't be much of a problem.
(joking aside, I have no idea what we're actually supposed to do here :P )
-
Sneaky-sneaky-stealthy-stealthy to the throne room and get the senators out. That's probably gonna require some more diversions, and I think anyone that's computer/communications savvy could be instrumental in that. Like filing reports of hostiles in different sectors might divert troops on wild goose-chases, or hacking the computers to shut cameras off in different areas, or set off alarms. A computer virus would be just ducky. >:D
We should actually grab a stormtrooper helmet - or at least the helmet's comm gear if it can be removed. That way we might be able to keep tabs on Imperial communications.
-
I meant the unconscious trooper, mostly. Do we just "know" that he's gonna wake up in a few?
-
You could have your medic anesthestize him ;)
-
Would we know if the resonator is built into the chest piece or helmet? I'm thinking of Keshani or Nim could wire up a portable power supply for the helmet we've got ourselves a makeshift key.
The helmet is independently powered.
-
You could have your medic anesthestize him ;)
Or a Trax. Longer lasting, guaranteed success. :)
-
Nah, Niil will just jab the trooper with a good, strong sedative. And then take his helmet's comm gear.
And maybe tag the trooper with a crap-ton of graffiti. ;D
-

-
Dang...now it's my turn to FINALLY get a break from being a high paid taxicab and find posts everywhere!
-
Ok, just so I am clear - you guys taking the open route, with higher chance of fighting? Or the confined spaces route with lower odds of fighting, but much less room to manoeuvre?
-
I'm 99% sure we're going the open route. Nim considers Trax to be the lead for the group though so whatever he wants to do.
-
It's the open route
-
Trax will lean towards the open route, but it's purely out of a desire to kill as many stormtroopers as he can.
If the cooler heads want to take the confined spaces route he'll grumble about it but agree.
-
Open route it is.
-
Trax will make sure the trooper isn't playing dead.
-
Ouch...someone took their bitteroot this morning ;)
-
Craig, do we know what might make a good power supply?
-
Demaria already said the emergency lights have a power supply that could work.
-
Ouch...someone took their bitteroot this morning ;)
Take one amoral (and admittedly typically bad tempered) bounty hunter, add in finally caring about someone, have them killed by stormtroopers, then get nearly killed himself by a jedi (currently not a whole lot of distinction between light and dark in Trax's eyes).
Mix well, then put into one gigantic battle station with a few legions of stormtroopers, a few jedi and wait for something to blow up. :)
-
Craig I didn't see a PM?
-
I was still writing it. :)
-
It's there now.
-
Would there be room down there for someone to help her out? And if so, would that add a d6 to the attempt?
-
Yeah, there's room for two. The bonus she would get depends on the skill of the helper.
-
If she starts before someone else is there, though, it'll be too late to help.
-
Niil's gonna go down there anyway, even if it's just to play bodyguard.
-
Ummm, did we see if Kesh had a communicator with her?
-
Fyi, Trax and Nim haven't told anyone about mariah yet. I had thought bringing out Buzz would launch a bunch of questions but I guess you guys don't know the connection.
-
Ummm, did we see if Kesh had a communicator with her?
Lol. Did anyone tell her to grab one? :p
-
Fyi, Trax and Nim haven't told anyone about mariah yet. I had thought bringing out Buzz would launch a bunch of questions but I guess you guys don't know the connection.
Actually, Niil might have made the connection - I think he was the one that actually found the droid on a previous mission - but for all he knows the droid is mass-produced (ie. R2 units tend to look all alike). He left the Karvis HQ before Trax did, and he doesn't know that Mariah went with him.
-
It's not that droid, Mariah built this droid. The one we found was an r2 style unit, this one is a small floating sphere.
-
OOC: Sorry, this would have been right after Trax's comment to Niil:
Niil eyed Trax and fought to keep his anger in check. The Dark side was hissing it's pleasure, encouraging Niil to teach the overbearing bounty hunter a lesson he'd not forget. Come on, Niil, Trax practically soiled himself seeing Ch'lana's lightsaber. Fire your own up . . .
NO! Despite his attitude, Trax is still a comrade! Stand down, Niil. "Why didn't you, for that matter? Trax, if you're going out of your way to look for a fight, then there's enough troopers in this station that will be happy to oblige you. But just as Ch'lana said, I'm not your enemy here. You are. I'm sorry, but you'd better get your head back in the game, and quick. And you'd better ask yourself if you're prepared for the possibility of facing Vader and Palpatine. Now enough of this drek. We have a mission to do, and we need you on your A-game."
Just as Niil finished speaking, the lift popped open and he saw Demaria with a mouth full of wires and cables. Grinning, he followed the others into the lift and gave the girl a grin. "Nicely done!"
Trax would have gone down, but by the time I could have posted my actions/objections, a plan had been made and actions taken.
-
No prob. Just going along with the IC dialogue. ;)
-
It's not that droid, Mariah built this droid. The one we found was an r2 style unit, this one is a small floating sphere.
Actually, the one we found was a small floating sphere. I remember finding it in that warehouse wreckage (along with the KDF trooper bodies) and handing it over to Mariah. We didn't want to activate it at the time because we weren't sure if it was Imperial or KDF.
-
Really? I was so sure that was an R2 style unit. I stand corrected.
No prob. Just going along with the IC dialogue. ;)
Yeah I know. But it can be a little frustrating when there's a flurry of posts and plans/actions go into effect before everyone can get a word in.
-
Okay found it. It was Mariah that spotted the droid, http://karvis.altarka.org/index.php?topic=57.msg836#msg836
-
Really? I was so sure that was an R2 style unit. I stand corrected.
Yup. I think that was the same mission where Trax went to the roof of that building and opened up on an Imperial garrison with an E-Web. When we first came into that building, we saw KDF trooper bodies, and we did a bit of digging. That's where we found the sphere droid. We didn't want to activate it where we were in case it was Imperial, but we decided to keep it in case it had valuable info. I remember that either one of us handed it to Mariah, or she scooped it up on her own.
-
Ah the good old days. :)
Not sure I'll respond to Niil, as I mentioned, Trax either would have personally gone down or insured someone go down with Demaria if I'd of been able to get a post in there.
-
Heh . . . one of us would have, but I thought she'd be climbing/rappelling down. Ch'lana's telekinesis sorta took me by surprise. Then Collan's comment was posted just as I was thinking, "Crap, someone should go down there to play bodyguard."
-
Say, Craig . . . would Niil have recognized that Buzz was the same droid that Mariah found on that garrison raid we pulled off?
-
You've been pretty busy the last little while. And the droid looks a lot different from the busted hunk of tin Mariah found.
-
Yeah, I thought she wouldn't be happy simply getting it functional again. ^-^
-
Yeah I know. But it can be a little frustrating when there's a flurry of posts and plans/actions go into effect before everyone can get a word in.
This :P there's 6 of us now, so we need to be a bit courteous to one another regarding posting speed.

-
Anyone else have Liuetenant Pie from Schlockmercenary just come to mind...
Does that mean Trax is Schlock??
-
Collan whispered to Ch'lana, "Could you mindtrick our way past the security checkpoint or if I can talk fast enough just give us an edge to convince of our legitimacy."
Even if there weren't too many, think you could talk faster than Trax can shoot? :)
-
Is the conversation between Ch'lana and Collan private/quiet enough that the rest of us can't hear it?
-
you can hear it.
-
So.....what's our plan here? I mean, I know what TRAX'S plan prolly wants to be, but I'm not sure the rest would agree? lol
-
Well, I was thinking on scooting ahead all sneaky-quiety so we can set up a surprise attack against that checkpoint. Sorry, Collan, but I think Trax has the right of it. The Imperials probably have a very strict security protocol to follow. With all the alarms going on across the Death Star, anyone showing up where they're not supposed to be (probably even if we were masquerading as Imperials) would be detained or blasted.
-
I like sneak attacks....
-
Well...somebody has to tell him ;)
-
Someone did, and she said to go get 'em, tiger :P
-
Hey guys I need to post (at least you prolly want me to) before you all decide what to do but I may not be able to post for a while. Just FYI
-
A few questions, I can ask IC, but so we can plan OOC, how close to the troopers could someone get using the ducts? Would there be decent a firing angle instead of just tossing grenades? Are the ducts big enough that Kesh could do at least a double move in them?
And something unrelated I've been meaning to ask, are the syntherope dispensers actually attached to the stormtrooper belts or just clipped on/removable? If they're removable, I'd like to pocket 2 of them if possible.
-
The dispensers are integral to the belt.
The ducting permits only half movement (crawling).
The ducts could lead you to a diffuser inside the Trooper perimeter. You're limited mobility up there, but you'd have an excellent position to fire, and the troopers would have no cover. You could theoretically deploy four people per round into the troopers through the ducting, making the 20m drop to the deck, but two per round would be safer (fewer actions required, etc). Only one person can shoot at a time from up in the ducts.
-
A quick run down of my plan;
Kesh moves into the ducts, radios when she's in position.
Trax, Ch'lana and Nightshade begin their approach, 2 - 3 rounds of a double move and dodging (for Trax anyway) will get them to with 20M.
Someone lets Kesh know so she can start dropping grenades.
Niil, Collan and Nim can start shooting either when the group starts to move up, or once Kesh starts bombing the troopers, their choice. I'd recommend waiting until the group that closes is in position, although history has shown regardless of other threats the troopers will focus on Ch'lana so it might not matter.
-
Niil shook his head. "No, dropping the grenades right after we round the corner wouldn't be good. I was thinking that she'd pop her grenades about five seconds after we make our move."
We've got 80M worth of straight corridor to move down, if there aren't at least a few of us up close and personal to keep their attention we'll risk one or two deciding to take pot shots at Keshani.
-
Five seconds should be enough time to for us to close a decent amount of that 80 meters. If we give her any more of a delay than that, we might get caught in our own grenade blasts. Besides, the troopers will likely have all of their attention focused on the multi-dozen blaster bolts coming at them. And they might have a hell of a time telling exactly where Keshani is in the ductwork - especially they don't see her dropping the pineapples.
-
In SW I think 1 round is 5 seconds, and normal human movement is 10M. To close half that distance in one round you'd need an all out run which wouldn't allow for a dodge and I think the maximum movement you can do and still take other actions is 20M (a double move).
If the above is correct, then at least some of us need to be half way before Kesh takes action or we risk her being a target.
-
Ch'lana: "Oh, I'll hold their attention." *snapHISSS*
-
So . . . ten seconds, then?
-
Ch'lana: "Oh, I'll hold their attention." *snapHISSS*
He was hard pressed with the last dozen, no reason to think it'd be any easier this time.
Did he end up using a medkit?
So . . . ten seconds, then?
That's what I'm thinking.
-
Ch'lana: "Oh, I'll hold their attention." *snapHISSS*
He was hard pressed with the last dozen, no reason to think it'd be any easier this time.
Yeah, but every white plastoid helmet was focused on him.
Did he end up using a medkit?
Nope.
-
And he'll likely have every white helmet focused on him this time too. Unless they consider Trax something of a threat.
Just for sake of understanding force powers, does that mean he's currently considered wounded or were the effects of the hit completely negated?
-
If it comes down to it, Niil can take the front charge with Trax. He's no slouch with blasters, either.
-
Hitting isn't the issue, it's dodging. Doing a double move means your dodge will be at -2D. Do a double move and shoot -3D. With Trax's dodge: energy weapons, even at -3D his dodge will be higher than the troopers blaster skill.
-
With Trax's dodge: energy weapons, even at -3D his dodge will be higher than the troopers blaster skill.
Dang...don't wanna run into him in a dark alley...
-
And he'll likely have every white helmet focused on him this time too. Unless they consider Trax something of a threat.
Just for sake of understanding force powers, does that mean he's currently considered wounded or were the effects of the hit completely negated?
He can ignore the effects of the injury.
-
Does it count as an action for him to do it?
-
Stun grenades? Can't she get something more destructive? :p
-
Unfortunately that's all we have for AoE stuff.
-
Really? What a mean GM :p
-
I'm thinking more of a wise one. Bad things happen when we use explosive devices. :P
-
....but it's so pretty....
-
Not when we're caught within the confines of the explosion . . . :P
-
Hmmmm....I suppose you have a point there. ..
-
Can I declare an action that if all the troopers fire on Ch'lana after he makes his presence known that Trax does a full run, otherwise he only does a double move?
And how long do we expect it'll take for Keshani to let us know she's in position?
-
I'm Ok with contingent actions like that. It will depend on initiative order.
-
Where IS everyone? :(
-
Still here and waiting . . . ;)
-
Where IS everyone? :(
Working...
-
Who does that? Overrated. ..lol.
-
Are you doing anything with that reserved post, Craig? Was waiting on that before posting.
-
No, it was for stuff happening off-screen that I'll post later into the thread.
-
OOC: One shot, and closing by leap-frogging forward from stanchion to stanchion. Once I'm in heavy blaster pistol range, I'll use those instead.
You firing on rounds you move? Or alternating moving and firing?
-
Sorry, I should've been more clear on that. Alternating move-and-fire for the time being. I'll take a shot this round.
-
So um, just how toxic is this flame suppressant? I was thinking about it in the wee hours of the morning today (because sleep deprivation is one of my new hobbies), and anything Trax didn't have on him when he left Torax's ship is history and I can't think of any conceivable reason why he would have taken a re-breather or breath mask along on that little suicide trip.
-
Craig, any thoughts on my question above?
Would there have been breath masks or re-breathers available on the shuttle? Trax knows the Empire uses gas for some of its automated defenses so it is something he would have had.
But that makes me wonder, how much can one person seriously carry? How big are med packs anyway? Can you rig up straps to have them clipped to an upper arm or leg?
-
Rebreathers are very small - they fit in a pocket.
Medpacks can strap onto a leg or arm, they're not large.
The fire suppression agent makes breathing difficult, and could lead to coughing spasms. It's unlikely to kill you, but it can be uncomfortable, or even debilitating, given an exposure fo sufficient concentration and / or duration.
-
Rebeathers would have been handy on the ship. Both ships, for that matter.
-
Those of you linked with Keshani hear her whisper "Frell," followed a moment later by "Fraking Gods with your cursed sense of humor!" [sic]
She sounds in pain.
Apparently it's a bad idea to tell a GM that something is up to their discretion. Lol. Mental note to self for future :-p
-
It would be more accurate to phrase that "It is a bad idea to forget that you told the Gm something is up to their discretion."
>:D
-
Ah yes but see a non evil GM would kindly remind the player about it...lol. besides. I expected you to not be literal and assume the discretion was for that one post only :p
-
... non evil GM ...
It's like your writing in English, but I don't understand what you're saying...
-
Ha. Ha. Ha. Funny.
-
So t occurs to me I may be assuming that my mask would work as a filtration system also...if that is not true Nightshade would employ whatever device would fit with his kit the best.
-
Hopefully the advantage outweighs the disadvantage otherwise I should have stuck with missing targets...
-
Nah, it's all good. Wait until Nightshade and Ch'lana get into HTH range with those poor buggers . . . >:D
-
HTH?
-
Hand-to-hand range.
-
AKA boot to ass range
-
Gotcha...
So for flow purposes here just wanna check ooc - Trax doesn't have a comm link. ..not sure about Chalana...should I be waiting for Craig to post here?
-
Is there anyway to quickly jury rig two blaster rifles together so that one could hold them and pull both triggers at the same time? I know there'd be MAPs involved, and likely a penalty for the jury rigging, but my reason for asking is it'd allow the shots to be combined for the +2 bonus to damage.
-
You could make a double-barrelled blaster, but not a way to fire link two blaster rifles, quickly or safely.
But you can do that with your pistols now, effectively fire-link them manually by giving up one attack role (not the MAP) and getting +2 damage.
-
Kesh watched, still wary, as Collan spoke with Trax and then Trax ordered Collan up to the front with Niil and the Jedi.
It was obvious that the three of them used to at least get along. What had changed?
And then there was still this....familiarity....that Trax directed toward her. It was....very similar....to how he acted toward Nim in a way, although clearly different, as well.
But she had never met him before. She was sure of that.
What then?
It was almost like how she had acted toward Danny....
Her eyes went wide with surprise at this realization, and despite the mutedness of her emotions her heart started beating a bit faster.
As they started walking she threw a glance back toward him.
"When you look at me who do you see?" she asked calmly.
<pulls out popcorn>
-

I know, and it's easy with the pistols because they're one handed, and that will likely come into play when we hit the throne room. Problem is right now my pistols don't have the range I'm looking for, and the rifles are too unwieldy to use one handed.
-
You could modify a blaster rifle for boosted damage, according to the item improvement rules, but lashing two rifles together and trying to arrange them to his the same spot is beyond what you could rig here. You'd need actuators to align them on the target, software and targeting to handle the coordination, etc.
-
Good question from Keshani . . . would a stun bolt from a blaster still detonate a droid?
-
She tried stunning the one in the air vent, if memory serves, and it still detonated.
-
I meant to ask about a stun grenade. Did I type the wrong thing? :-[
-
If these droids canexplode from either a stun grenade or a stun bolt from a blaster, we might have to lure them away from the power conduit.
-
....or see if the tech goddess can figure out a way to jam them or send a signal to shut them down? If they are maintenance droids wouldn't they have some kind of recall function?
-
I still don't why Ch'lana couldn't mind trick em :) Seems even an untrained Jedi can do it...
-
Spoilers!

That might work . . .
-
Spoilers!
Okay, River ;)
Technically, more of a teaser...
And speaking of River, SHE'S BACK FOR THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL! Fav companion eavr1!2!1!!!
-
A couple of wellplaced stun bolts will take out the techs, I'm less worried about them. Michele, can you hack the droids remotely? I'm not even sure that's possible. A concentration roll on grenades would let Niil or I lob a stun grenade fairly effectively. But I'm not sure stunning fire or the grenade would be louder.
-
She could use Buzz in stealth mode to hack a droid.
-
Ok. Maybe some droids aren't quite so bad :p
-
I've got a plan but I'll wait until Michelle can respond about hacking the droids. My plan, surprise surprise is a little less than subtle. :)
-
Lol. There is a quote from the xwing series books that comes to mind....something about the fact that there is not always a need to blow everything up :p
-
I've got a plan but I'll wait until Michelle can respond about hacking the droids. My plan, surprise surprise is a little less than subtle. :)
Does it involve about twelve or more blaster shots? ;D
-
Actually it doesn't. I'm saving those theatrics for the throne room.
-
Couple questions-
I assume we went back to the fork to discuss?
If there's a fork, there's other passages, are they on the map? Is the chamber the best route, are there decent alternatives?
Does the chamber have the one hatch and then one regular door?
Lastly, how does stealth work? :P like I haven't been sure if Buzz's stealth mode just keeps him from being seen on a sensor.
-
Hmm. Nice questions :)
-
I assume we went back to the fork to discuss?
Yes.
If there's a fork, there's other passages, are they on the map? Is the chamber the best route, are there decent alternatives?
There are other passages, but they do not take you where you want to be. One goes to a trash compactor, the other a barracks.
Does the chamber have the one hatch and then one regular door?
Only hatches. The techs crawled up here, similar to how you got here.
Lastly, how does stealth work? :P like I haven't been sure if Buzz's stealth mode just keeps him from being seen on a sensor.
It's visual as much as sensor. As long as he does not attack or take any damage, he's only visible as a blurring of the surrounding area.
-
We can't toss in a stun (or other) grenade without the core very likely going nuclear. So I suggest slicing the droids first, and sending in maybe Nightshade since only one can go in at a time, his stealth giving someone else the opportunity to join him?
-
If those droids can be hacked, yeah, that sounds like a good idea. The enemy droids might have an IFF code that won't let them fire if the core is in the line of fire, too . . . but I wouldn't bank too much on that.
-
^
|
What they said...
-
I support the sneaky sneaky plan.
-
So, just to make sure I have this right...
Nim is going to use Buzz to slice one (or both?) of the droids.
Nightshade slips in all stealthy like and takes out the techs up close and personal.
Profit.
Am I missing anything?
-
Plan works for me. Sorry for the lack of posting, laptop battery is dead and I left my power supply at the office.
-
We'll do both droids, one at a time I guess. I'm not sure where the hatch is, I guess someone could drop in after Nightshade if he might need the help.
-
....and I left my power supply at the office.
That's a new one. Lol
Sounds good to me...
-

I am insulted...although someone running around naked as a distraction would make things a lot easier lol.

Niil sighed heavily and shook his head as he began to remove his clothing . . .

I was about to volunteer a naked Trax but hey, if you're volunteering.. :D
-
I slightly changed my post to direct it at Nightshade. Sorry Ken ;)
-
Ok, we good to go?
-
Eee-yup.
-
Ch'lana will be Nightshade's first backup?
-
Sure, though Ch'lana is not particularly stealthy.
-
Oh good, I'm the next stealth we have? :P
-
Well, if it comes down to it, Niil has a 3D+2 Sneak skill (unless he could get away with the Sneak: Urban here, which would put him at 5D+1). And I don't know what Trax has. So if stealth is the concern here, then it would be better if either Trax or Niil went.
-
I was going to laugh and say Trax is as good at being stealthy as he is with computers but after looking it appears I actually have bumped up his sneak skill. Not sure if I should be impressed with myself or disappointed. :)
-
Ummm, wasn't there three techs in the room?
-
Shhhhh!
-
Trax should be able to take a second shot with very minimal risk of missing.
-
There only seem to be 2 at the moment...
-
Um. Uh oh
-
Ooc: sorry - blonde moment. Just wanna check - you mean the cores of the droids? Can't we just shoot them now that the self destruct is disabled?
-
They might have auxiliary processors that could reboot them. Safest to remove the power core.
It's a simple operation.
-
Collan's sneak is 3d+2 as well...
-

Need to put a list together for Trax's bible. :)
I'm guessing the only useful tools we would find here are literally tools. The techs might have tool belts with stuff that Nim and Kesh could use to make hacking or accessing/opening panels quicker and easier, stuff for bypassing and rerouting circuits etc.
-
They have a tool kit with them with various technical instruments in it. They also carry blaster pistols, but that's about it.
-
Ooc: sorry - blonde moment. Just wanna check - you mean the cores of the droids? Can't we just shoot them now that the self destruct is disabled?
That was the plan until a certain GM said something about "auxiliary processors" and I kinda went "shit.." haha
-
Darn sneaky GMs :p
-
Blaster pistols could be used as grenades in a pinch . . . ;D

Miss a day of checking the boards and everything explodes in posting fury. :o

That's what happens when Nightshade misses one.
Doh! xD

Are the blast openings in the transparisteel big enough for buzz to get through?
-
That computer terminal . . . is it an open-faced terminal (like a bank ATM), or does a panel have to be opened to access it?
-
Are the blast openings in the transparisteel big enough for buzz to get through?
Negative. He's a little too rotund.
-
That computer terminal . . . is it an open-faced terminal (like a bank ATM), or does a panel have to be opened to access it?
Open a panel to access the innards.
-
Regarding the shield/generator, if we blasted a hole in the wall beside where the shield extends, would it automatically fill that space? Would blowing one or both of the droid cores beside the shield possibly cause enough damage to overload the generators?
And for the barricades, do they come out of the floor/ceiling/walls or were they set up manually?
-
The generator stops at solid objects. If you blew a hole, it will fill the space along the edge of the sphere it generates.
If you get inside the shield, shutting it down is simple. A blaster will do it, but yes a droid core rigged to explode should do it as well.
The barricades look like they were manually set up, but were pre-built for this exact purpose. There are flanges and rings that the barricade is secured to. They're pretty thorough, with no spots Buzz is able to see. In times of emergency, access to the throne room area is likely defended at all access points by a similar setup. This looks like a prepared plan, not jury-rigging.
-
Actually, what I meant was would an explosion from the droid core do enough damage to the shield itself to overload/shutdown the generator(s)?
-
Possible, but unlikely. You'd need some pretty good tech rolls to maximize the boom.
-
Are the generators plugged into station power? I wonder if Nim can hack in and shut power down to the section. Still have to deal with the barriers and troopers, but at least the shields would be down.
-
Too bad we couldn't just bring the ceiling down on that barricade. It probably wouldn't take it out, but with enough rubble it might also prevent it from bringing the bulk of the firepower against us.
We might have to hack into the computers again (and not at that terminal only 30 yards away from them) and see if there's anything that can give us an edge (ie. extinguisher systems, KO gas, etc.).
Maybe we can try and find something that we could remotely pilot into that barricade (ie. a repulsor cargo sled)? I know that's grasping at straws, but I'm really not too keen about taking on that barricade's firepower unless we have a hell of an advantage.
-
Are the generators plugged into station power? I wonder if Nim can hack in and shut power down to the section. Still have to deal with the barriers and troopers, but at least the shields would be down.
Or even better . . . shut down the fail-safes on the surge protectors. That generator (if plugged it) would become a handy little bomb.
-
This is Star Wars...since when did they put generators inside the shield they were creating? I mean does Hoth ring a bell?
-
LOL different scale. :)
-
I'm guessing our biggest problem is getting past the shield (would detonating the droid cores potentially do enough damage to the shield itself to shutdown the generators?)?
Can Ch'lana's lightsaber cut through the transparisteel?
And just to get the order right, assuming we're the starting point, what's the order in which the defenses have to be bypassed? Maybe a basic jpg would help.
I'm going to guess that the ventilation shafts are shielded at some point as well, but we could send buzz in to have a quick look.
-
The shield protects the barricades and barrier from blasters (and the troopers). The barricade and barrier protects the energy shield (and troopers) from physical harm. You can't get at the shield generator without finding a way past the barrier and barricade.
This is a hardened position, the droid cores are going to do nearly nothing against the barricades and barrier. IF you could make an opening in the barricade, you could lob a droid core past the energy shield, and take out the shield generator that way. it would be pretty effective, but you need an opening of some sort to do so.
You're not sure of the shield strength - a droid core *might* overload it.
Ch'lana's sabre could cut through the transparisteel, but it would take time.
I'll work on a rough map.
Ventilation shafts can't get you any closer than you already are - you're crossing into a different compartment, with it's own ventilation system. There's no way to bypass this checkpoint.
As an aside, there were six checkpoints like this between the docking bay and where you are now, but you were able to bypass most those thanks to the maps Nim provided, and Keshani let you guys bypass two more through her knowledge.
-
Okay, after reading that and a few quick messages to Craig, here's what I'd like to propose;
The repeaters have to be dealt with first, they're protected by the energy shield, but not the barrier. Nightshade sneaks up to the first repeater and deals with the operator(s). The risk there is that when he moves through the energy shield he might be exposed so he'd need to move quickly at that point. The other issue is once the first repeater is down, can he 'safely' get to the second repeater. Trax and/or Ch'lana could act as a distraction to help keep the focus off Nightshade. We could also toss one of the droid cores to blow the second repeater at the same time. It does mean someone will have to close while under fire.
Once both repeaters are down, we use wall or floor panels to block the slots so the troopers can't shoot at us. It'd be a bit of a long march to get there, but the panels should work as effective cover. Once we can't be shot at, Nim (and perhaps Kesh as well) can work freely at the panel, maybe shut down the shield generator, while/or Ch'lana uses his saber to cut an opening through the barrier so we can physically get to the generator.
Thoughts/concerns?
-
Just a point - the troopers are hardly going to be passive observers while you try to crack the nut that protects them. And there's a lot of Stormtroopers.
-
But their field of fire will be restricted due to the size of the rifle slots. I wouldn't expect that all 20 troopers could fire at once.
-
true.
-
Two more things to think about that I had discussed with Craig.
1. We could MAYBE rig the two droid power cores together and rig a resonance emitter to open a hole in the shields but it'd take some time and we don't know for sure if it'd work or how long it would take.
2. Craig said that things the size of a microgrenade could fit through the rifle slots in the barrier, which we MIGHT be able to cobble together from the grenades we already have.
Just two more things to think about. Craig, if I misrepresented anything you told me please feel free to correct.
-
Ch'lana's a Jedi warrior right? Does he have Enchanced Coordination or Battle Meditation? Either could help? I recall EC can be used to disorganize the other side...
-
That's beyond his abilities. He's a knight, not a Battle Master.
-
Could he use TK to flip the switch on the shields or toss the repeaters into one another?
-
His telekinesis isn't very powerful. He's a Knight, not a Sage. Still, he could try.
-
Instead of tossing the repeaters, could he disconnect them from their power source? They might be useful if reinforcements show up while we're cutting through the barricade.
And what about TK'ing wall and floor panels into position to block the rifle slots?
-
Again, possible, but it's not his strength.
-
I think we have a few options that can be brought up IC now anyway.
-
A map would definitely be helpful here to process what needs to be done, but a couple of basic questions to understand my part here...
How would the energy field of the shield affect my stealth suit?
Another important question...does it extend to objects I am carrying or only to my immediate person...i.e. if I drew my swords or carried a power core would those things be stealthed also, or just look like floating objects that give away my position?
-
Ch'lana frowns. "I don't think so, not on my own anyway. Maybe if you and Niil helped? But we'd be stationery targets while trying."
Niil looked at Ch'lana, intrigued. "I'm game."
Um, ignoring the troopers for the moment, those are repeaters that will firing on you while you present yourselves as stationary targets. Think you can survive 7D or higher damage if, or more likely when, you get hit?
-
What kind of tools does Buzz have? If he could close with one of the repeaters, could he disable it?
Oooh, if we could blow up one of the repeaters would it do some decent damage to the barrier?
-
Probably not the barrier, but it might overload the shield.
-
You can see how the repeaters are powered. If there's a generator nearby, you might be able to blow that. If they have internal power, it would be harder to do. You'd need to get buzz of Nightshade closer to scout that out.
-
How would the energy field of the shield affect my stealth suit?
You would be revealed passing through the energy shield. Physical objects moving through create ripples and otherwise perturb the shield, so you would be revealed.
Another important question...does it extend to objects I am carrying or only to my immediate person...i.e. if I drew my swords or carried a power core would those things be stealthed also, or just look like floating objects that give away my position?
Only things covered by the shadowsilk are under stealth. You don't have a stealth field generator like Buzz, but the shadowsilk suit naturally masks anything covered by it.
A shadowsuit was a suit of body-stocking armor made of shadowsilk, a special light-absorbing material. The shadowsuit was designed to maximize the covert movements of the wearer. As such, shadowsuits did not use electronics that could be detected by sensors, except for the optional goggles for the wearer's eyes?the only part of the body that the suit did not cover. Cushioned gloves and slippers reduced the noise the wearer made by moving.
The shadowsuit looked like an unpretentious, pitch-black body stocking that covered the whole body of its wearer except for the eyes. Users commonly employed goggles in conjunction with the suit to provide eye protection.
The shadowsuit was made of shadowsilk, a soft but tough special fiber that absorbed both light and sound. As such, the resulting suit improved the stealth of the wearer. The shadowsuit lacked any electronic device that could be detected by sensors, including sensor scramblers and energy signature, relying entirely in its passive abilities.
The shadowsuit also included gloves and slippers that featured additional sound-attenuating stuffing to reduce the noise a wearer made by moving and thus increasing that user's stealth.
It doesn't make you invisible, but it absorbs light and muffles sound, giving you a bonus to your Stealth rolls.
Buzz's uses electronics and energy fields to make him near transparent, but it can be detected by energy scanners, etc.
-
So our best bet is to create a distraction while Nightshade (and possibly Buzz) move through the shield. If Buzz goes through a top corner and Nightshade does a roll through a bottom corner the ripples would be more likely to go unnoticed.
How far to the repeaters after Nightshade passes through the shield?
-
Not far. I'll get a map up over lunch today.
-
Could we get a smoke screen again or start something?
-
Possible. Nim has been successful in the past at activating the fire suppression system. She'd need to access a terminal to do so.
-
Assuming it has to be done from the panel that's exposed, can she do what she needs to if Buzz was at the panel?
-
Yes. Increased difficulty, but she could use Buzz as a remote.
-
Map is up on the RP thread.
-
Looks like if timed right, by the time they realized Nightshade had moved through the shield he could strike at one crew (assuming he had initiative).
-
How far back is the nearest panel and is it usable for anything up ahead? Can we use it to remote in somewhere?
-
Is there a way for Force-users to combine their powers to pull off a task that one Jedi normally wouldn't be able to do on his/her own?
-
I think that's what Ch'lana was thinking of doing. I still think our best chances of success is for Nightshade and Buzz to sneak up, we, and by that I mean Trax would volunteer, draw their fire so they don't see the ripples in the shield and deal with the repeaters in a much more mundane way.
-
I think we could use Ch'lana as shield and all of us fire?
-
I agree that the repeaters have to go first, and that the best thing to do would be to try to get one of them intact so that we could then turn it on the other troopers or blow it up. Truthfully I think using the Force here is making simple, although difficult job, much too complicated.
And I agree that using smoke doesn't really help, I imagine the troopers don't care about single target acquisition, they will just go with the spray and pray approach. ;D
-
Is there a way for Force-users to combine their powers to pull off a task that one Jedi normally wouldn't be able to do on his/her own?
Absolutely.
-

Having him draw fire from a bunch of troopers is one thing. A repeater is something completely different.
-
Having him draw fire from a bunch of troopers is one thing. A repeater is something completely different.
Especially two repeaters. ;)
I have a few questions first regarding Nightshade trying to slip through the shield to neutralize at least one of the repeaters:
1) Would he even be able to get through the shield? If so, how long would it take? If it's more than a second or two, the chances of the troopers having enough time to react is going to go up considerably.
2) Assuming he got up to the shield without being detected and was able to get through, would the shield/sneak suit contact shut down the sneak suit or reduce its effectiveness? Not trying to downplay his lethality, but that's at least 22 troopers (estimating the 20 behind the repeaters plus the 2 gunners) with a crap-ton of firepower. All it takes if for one of the troopers to spot his suit's camo fringe. Even if the troopers do go with the spray and pray approach, that's still enough shots to force a lot of Dodge checks.
So . . . depending on what the answers will be, I'd tentatively suggest this . . . have Nightshade try to bypass the shield and take out the repeaters, and have Trax stand by out of LOS to make ready for Nightshade's signal (regardless of success or failure). Nightshade might also want to take a few grenades with him to pop through those firing slits. I'm thinking that Trax - with all of his Force Points - could deliver enough firepower with those hand cannons of his to overwhelm even that energy shield. Ch'lana, Collan and Niil could team up and use the Force to try and shut down/damage/destroy that energy shield's power generator.
-
1) Would he even be able to get through the shield? If so, how long would it take? If it's more than a second or two, the chances of the troopers having enough time to react is going to go up considerably.
It is an energy shield. Physical objects are not impeded at all. Had it been a particle shield, then he could not cross it.
He's going to disturb the energy shield like a rock tossed into a pond. The effect will be noticeable, unless the troopers have something else to concentrate on, or something else disturbs the shield so that it masks his crossing.
-
Cool.
Okay, the Jedi crew have a few options here as I see it . . .
Apparently we don't actually have to have an LOS to the repeaters or the shield generator to influence them, although the attempt will be a lot more difficult if we can't see them. Still, with Niil and Collan boosting Ch'lana's attempt, it might be doable.
That being said, I can think of a few ideas:
1) Disable the power generator (shut it off, yank it loose from its cables, overload it, etc.) so the energy shield can be dropped.
2) Yank one (maybe 2?) of the repeaters away from the firing crews.
3) Levitate a grenade through the energy shield near the repeater crews. That has it's drawbacks (if it works, that is), since friendlies can't be in the AOE when it goes off, and it's not guaranteed to take the gun crews out of action.
-
How far back is the nearest panel and is it usable for anything up ahead? Can we use it to remote in somewhere?
-
You would need to explore to find an alternate panel. There were no panels in the crawlspace you just came out of.
You could use Buzz as a remote to access the panel, but someone would need to open it so Buzz could access the port.
-
Would opening the panel be noticeable to the troopers?
I'd rather not permanently disable the shield or repeaters, it'll take time to cut through the barrier and deal with the troopers so we'll likely need the protection and defensive capabilities of both.
A grenade floating through the air would be a little suspect, and it might be a small target, but if they're filling the corridor with blaster fire in response there's a good chance it won't make it and we've blown our one chance at surprise.
I think we need Buzz and Nightshade to scope out the T behind us. If they can find a panel, at least we can open it and access it without drawing any attention to ourselves. If a patrol doesn't happen to come by.
-
Would opening the panel be noticeable to the troopers?
Likely. It would be an easy perception roll, each round that it is open.
-
So um. Just as an aside (unless our awesome GM feels like being very nice...), Keshani doesn't have a breath mask.
-
Sorry for the delay, my kids are plague rats.
-
We were at the hospital when my youngest was born. The other two came with me for a visit. The nurses needed some time, so the kids and I went to the patient lounge. While we were there, a new mother rolled up with one of those plastic bassinets. My girls immediately went to it to look at the baby. Without thinking I said, "Get away from there you little germ bags!"
-
I have spent the past nine years with a runny nose most of the time...

HA! I had the same nickname for my son! ;D

Oooo . . . I thought we grabbed one at the last firefight. Okay, that's gonna be a priority . . .

Do the Imperial techs have them as a part of their normal gear? Can't take one from the troopers, I'm pretty sure it's all built into their helmet/armor.
Craig, question on the repeaters, is dodging repeater fire treated differently than regular blaster fire?
-
Same basic principle only much more difficult.
-
My boys turn their backs so that we can't see them picking their nose and eating it. Soo grooooss
In lieu of a mask you guys can wear a trooper helmet I guess :P
Can someone sum up what was planned? I think I read that NS and Buzz should go through the blockade to look for a panel? Was it taken into account that opening a panel is visible?
-
Summary;
- Buzz and Nightshade explore the corridors of the T to look for another panel.
- If they find one Nightshade opens it, Buzz hooks up and Nim tries to remote hack the fire suppression system. Otherwise we have to risk Buzz using the exposed panel.
- If Nim is successful, Nightshade moves to the edge of the shield, Nim then activates the fire suppression system.
- Nightshade slips through the shield and attacks the first repeater crew.
- If he's still unnoticed, he can sneak along the barrier and attack the second repeater crew.
- Now we figure out how to close and deal with the barrier.
-
Will NS's suit hide the open panel by standing in front of it or something?
-
No, his suit makes it hard to see him, but it is not an invisibility suit.
-
Concentration on Blaster gives me a 12d+1 to hit when I use a FP. Craig...would I be able to activate concentration?
I need Nim or Keshani to ID the right part...could Buzz image it?
-
Do you mean like show Collan a picture of its exposed parts? I dunno if Buzz has a reference like that. Kesh might be able to explain it at the very least
-
Buzz doesn't. I'm hoping Kesh or Nim could..
-
DC 15 Heavy Weapons Repair roll. Buzz can image the gun, display it through Nim'a wristcomp and Keshani could try and identify a good target.
-
Just to be clear, there's no way we can cut a path through the superstructure? That is we cut a hole in the tube and go through to get behind the troopers.
-
If what craig said is what you'd like to do I'll hold off on sending buzz out so I don't incur any MAPs. You'll definitely need Kesh, I don't touch anything mech related :)
-
Repeating blaster weakness = shoot gunner repeatedly.

I got 4D in tech....craig, since they wouldn't actually be in combat still would I get the 1D bonus still?

Yes.

Hear hear! :)

Yes.
so if we wanted to go that route and I spent a CP it would be probably doable, right?
-
Might not even need a CP.
-
Niil gave Keshani what he hoped was a reassuring grin. "For now? Just sit tight until Buzz and Nightshade get back. We'll hammer down the game plan once we get intel from their recons. So . . . you were saying about those repeaters' weak spot? I'm guessing the power cell or power coupling?"
Keshani would need to see them to identify a weak spot. Either directly or imaged by Buzz.
-

Oooo. I'm starting to think that my earlier jesting comment about taking out the gunner would be the easier option . . . ;)
-
By imaged, do you mean go up to one and get a picture first or can he just project one?
How many hits can Buzz's shield take?
Also I'm guessing on it setting off an alarm if I fail... what's the actual probability of it? :P
-

He can scan it, and project a holo to your wristcomp. That would allow someone else to point out a weak spot.
How many hits can Buzz's shield take?
It's not a matter of hits.It effectively boosts your strength to resist damage.
Also I'm guessing on it setting off an alarm if I fail... what's the actual probability of it? :P
You're not sure, but a good guess would be if you miss the DC more than 5 there's a danger of an alarm. The probability goes up the more you miss by.
-
These repeaters . . . are they the light ones, or the E-Webs? Trax and Niil have handled the E-Web before.
As for that energy shield . . . do we know what it would take to punch a blaster bolt through it?
-
Using the panel at the lift, is that computer or security skill?
-
Computer.
-
These repeaters . . . are they the light ones, or the E-Webs? Trax and Niil have handled the E-Web before.
They are light repeaters, on a pintel mount with a hard shield to protect the operator.
As for that energy shield . . . do we know what it would take to punch a blaster bolt through it?
You're going to have a hard time getting through the energy shield with hand-held weaponry. Trax's hand cannons have the best chance, but even then.
-
If I read the map right, we can get real close to the repeaters without even touching the edge of the shield, so I don't think we really need to worry about a distraction...by the time they notice the ripple I would be all over them. So that should account for one gun. Can Buzz carry a grenade to drop at the other one and then make a run for it? That should leave us with at least on operational gun and maybe two depending on the 'nade damage.
-
If you still want the fire suppression I'm going to try slicing it. We were going to lose the element of surprise if I didn't try anyway.
I assume buzz could carry a grenade (with grips?) but the grenade would probably be visible.
-

I think Ch'lana, Collan and Niil can take care of the other repeater. Either we'll use a Force combo to try and take the gun out, or both Collan and I can each use Concentrate and try to take the repeater's gunner out.
-
Ok, so what's the plan?
Nightshade goes sneaky-sneaky, takes out one of the repeater gunners, then goes for the second one? Then $fighters pile out and make a break for the barricade? $backup hang back in case they are needed?
I need the variables above defined.
-
As I figure/know it the plan is.
- Buzz accesses the panel by the lift, Nightshade moves into position just outside the shield
- Nim, via a cloaked Buzz attempts to hack the fire suppression system
- Either at the sound of the alarm going off, or a cloud of smoke, Nightshade attacks first repeater (sounds like a single operator?)
- Then either Nightshade attacks the second repeater or Collan takes a shot (Niil or Ch'lana providing a distraction). Is it even possible to hit the trooper if he uses a force point? Regardless, Corey or Darren will have to clarify what they want to do
- Once the repeaters are down, whoever wants to, Trax will definitely be one Nim and Kesh won't be, moves to the barrier
- Those at the barrier find a way to block the rifle slots so Nim, Kesh, and whoever else can make a safer run to the barrier
- Those already at the barrier can use the repeaters to provide cover fire if reinforcements arrive
-
Ok, can I get a "Go" or "No Go" on the plan as posted by Trax?
-
Sorry . . . still trying to figure out what would give the three Force dudes the best chance of success against that second repeater. From what I read about the strength of that energy shield, Collan, Ch'lana and Niil might have better success teaming up to do a Force yank on that second repeater. The heaviest weapon we have only does 5D damage. Unless Collan wants to take a shot and use a FP while we keep the gun crews distracted.
But a green light to everything else, yes.
-
I am down with my part of the plan...I will attack the gun on the left and then the one on the right if needed.
-
I'm down with it too...Craig...all of this assumes the shielding has holes to allow shots through it. Is that correct?
-
The physical shielding does. I think Craig said it would take a heroic DC to get a shot through one of the firing slots from where we are.
However, the area is also covered by an energy shield . . . and from what Craig said, it's gonna be hard to get through that with the blasters we have.
-
Niil is correct.
-
Then my plan is nixed. I was misreading the whole thing.
-
The plan is good on my end. Nim gave kesh a toy to tinker with this round or two.
-
So let's go with the Force yank on the second repeater. Or use the Force to shut off that energy shield . . . whichever is easier.
-
Yank would be easier.
-
I reluctantly agree...force yank or hope Nightshade shuts it down. I will be spending a FP on it.
-
Don't shut off the shield! We'll need time to cut through the barrier, which is time for reinforcements to flank us. Without the shield we'll have to fight on two fronts. With the shield, one person can keep the reinforcements at bay with the repeater. I'd really like to keep both working so hopefully it'd be easy enough to set up again.
-
I'm extremely confused with regards to our tactical situation.
Does the barrier have openings through which stormies can come out to play? The original post says that they can sheet out under cover with it.
Will turing on the smokescreen/fire suppression go through the shield or even be behind it? If so, we'll be under cover the whole time.
Where is the fire control for the repeaters?
Can we slip through the shielding? Or will it fry us?
-
The shield is an energy shield - one-way - and it blocks incoming energy weapons only. Physical objects can pass through it untouched, though it may overload electronic stealth measures and still reveal passage. The troopers can also freely fire outside the shield. The repeaters do not appear to have any fire control - they are manually operated, and include a physical shield to protect the operator. The repeaters are within the energy shield.
In addition, there is a physical barricade to prevent physical access. The barricade has slots that permit a rifle to fire though it. You might be able to pick off a trooper through the rifle slot, but it would be a very difficult, possibly heroic level shot. They effectively have full cover, but can return fire without impediment.
So, there's two obstacles to overcome. The energy shield, and the physical barricade.
-
Are the operators in front of the barrier with the repeaters or behind it, remotely operating them?
-
I think the gunners are hunkered down behind the repeaters. According to the map, the repeaters and gunners are in front of the physical shielding and 20 troopers, but everyone at that checkpoint is covered by the energy shield.
-
Craig put up a map/visual in the IC thread, http://karvis.altarka.org/index.php?topic=175.msg5807#msg5807
-
Okay, so Nill, Collan and Ch'lana will team up to try and yank that second repeater away from its gun crew. Once we do that (heh . . . if we do that), I guess it's a mad dash to the barricades.
-
Are you planning to do so from cover?
-
I think we have to let Nightshade or Trax take out the gunner or approach under cover.
-
More than likely (regards to the out-of-sight attack). It's a tradeoff . . . it's more difficult to do it without actually having LoS to the target, but at the same time we won't be visible and potentially eating 14D6 worth of blaster damage (we won't be able to dodge). ;)
-
I'm ready to proceed.
Last call. I want a "Go" "No Go" from everyone.
-
Go.
-
Go
-
Go, but can we get a new ooc thread? 31 pages is a lot and I am running out of room on the screen of my phone...
-
Go. I'm going to keep the wristcomp comm open.
-
Trax will leave his helmet comm on and open.
-
Collan has his on and open and pinned to his shoulder...or wherever
-
Comm on and ready for speakies.
-
Guess Kesh will leave hers open and pinned on her shoulder too if everyone else is...
-
Green light here
-
Um, what happened to the smoke screen attempt from the panel at the lift?
-
I that wasn't possible - opening the panel to get access would have revealed Buzz before Nightshade was ready. Nim is free to do that now, on her action. buzz can open the panel, and she'll try and slice the panel.
-
I thought she was going to try from the panel Buzz found down the other corridor by the lift
-
As I figure/know it the plan is.

- Those already at the barrier can use the repeaters to provide cover fire if reinforcements arrive
-
We were going for the difficult one at the lift because we couldn't find an advantage to slicing the fire suppression system after the surprise was over. It sounded like it wouldn't help us after the fact as much as it did the last combat scene.
Is that still the case or is there an advantage we're not seeing?
-
Well, popping a smoke screen now would definitely screw up the Imperials firing on us. The danger of getting hit would still be there, but reduced.
If that smoke could be contained within that area where the 20 troopers are, that would be even better.
-
Staring down the barrel of four rifles...yeah some smoke would be pretty sexy right now. 8)
-
Things are happening segment by segment.
Buzz couldn't open the panel without revealing himself.
If Nim is quick with the slicing, the troopers will loose sight on Nightshade.
-
As much as she might have otherwise celebrated, Nim knew that slice had been the easy one.
The DC was 25, and you *just* made it.
-
Considering we're on an imperial battle station and the section we're in is on lock down I think DC 25 qualifies as 'the easy one', all things being relative. :)
-
Considering we're on an imperial battle station and the section we're in is on lock down I think DC 25 qualifies as 'the easy one', all things being relative. :)
Correction: we're on The imperial battlestation :)
-
And if we only knew that it had hyperspace capability, in-system engines and a planet-cracking frap gun . . .
-
I still can't see the stormies and they can't see me right?
-
You can see indistinct, vaguely humanoid shapes. Presumably they can see the same.
-
How much are you willing to wager that they'll be more willing to fire at vague shapes than we are? ;)
-
Everyone on the other side of the glass is Rebel so of course they will
-
Did Nightshade take some grenades for himself when we were prepping to hit the Death Star? Maybe pop one or two through one of the shooting apertures . . . >:D
-
No suggestions! :)
-
He said it over com ;)
-
I can't find the get ready thread, didn't think I grabbed any useful grenades, just have my smoke ones
-
That could work . . .
-
*sigh* if only I had a real saber...
Collan holds his unignited saber against the transperisteel directly in front of a stormtrooper's chest and presses the ignition switch...
-
Hell, with real lightsabers we might be able to cut a nice, big hole in that shield. ;)
-
That will be Ch'lana's job when he gets to the barrier.
-
Or . . . grab one of the repeaters, shove it through one of the firing holes, and cut loose.
-
That would be fun
-
That brings up a question: can you make it so that a repeater is just firing constantly? That is we turned it on and it just keeps going without us holding a trigger. Sure, no one is aiming but I'm thinking about where we cut through the barrier. We could have the repeater fired through the hole so no stormies come from behind while we are otherwise occupied
-
Don't worry about the dozen troopers coming down the corridor, they're about to be VERY occupied.
-

Sure, no one is aiming but I'm thinking about where we cut through the barrier. We could have the repeater fired through the hole so no stormies come from behind while we are otherwise occupied
I'm thinking that it would be too inaccurate if it wasn't being aimed. Besides, it looks like only Ch'lana could cut through the hard barrier anyway. Unless Kesh could rig an explosive to take it out. If it boils down to it, I'm sure at least one of us could use the repeater (or two people for two repeaters) while the rest try to bring down that barrier. And if we take that energy shield intact, we have a good defensive bonus against blaster fire coming from behind us.
-
An explosive might do it, or at least crack it enough for us to bust through, problem is we'd need to put some distance between us and the barrier or risk getting caught in the blast. And if we put distance between us and the barrier, we become open targets to the troopers behind it. I would expect anyone staying low and right up against the barrier should have full cover from the troopers on the other side.
As for the shield, I was thinking about that, if we wait to deal with the troopers Trax is going to go play with, the troopers on the other side of the barrier will just turn the shield off and now we're pinned. That's why he decided to go deal with them now.
Hopefully the above doesn't violate Craig's no OOC policy.
-
This whole thread has been violating that for a while. :)
-
Oops! Sorry; forgot about that.
-
This whole thread has been violating that for a while. :)
Sorry. It's a hard habit to break.
-
Craig...how far can those repeaters traverse?
-
In the words of the movie 'Home'...Poomp!
-
Craig...how far can those repeaters traverse?
While mounted, they have a 90 degree cone of fire.
-
Ugh. Here's where I wished to hell I would've saved that FP.
-
Want one of mine?
-
Ugh. Here's where I wished to hell I would've saved that FP.
You guys got an extra one at the beginning.
-
Yup, and unfortunately Niil used it when we fought that first group of 12 troopers. (where we met Keshani).
-
I show you with still having one left. Force-sensitive characters can never go below 1 FP.
-
Really? :o
Well, I suppose that gives me a few options in this very nasty situation. I'm just trying to work out the difficulty of a few possible plans of action here so this doesn't run the risk of a TPK:
1) Spend a FP, run up to the physical barrier, stick my blaster through one of the firing slits and shoot the power generator. Even if I could do that, what kind of explosion (if any) would I be looking at if I hit the generator?
2) Spend a FP, run up to the barrier and pop some grenades in through the firing slits.
3) Spend a FP, grab one of the repeaters, stick the barrel through one of the firing slits and go rock 'n' roll (assuming I could do all of that in one action round).
4) Spend a FP, run up to the barrier, Force-grab Ch'lana's lightsaber (assuming I can), and use it to hack my way through the barrier.
-
Is the fire suppression still in action?
-
1) Spend a FP, run up to the physical barrier, stick my blaster through one of the firing slits and shoot the power generator. Even if I could do that, what kind of explosion (if any) would I be looking at if I hit the generator?
A pretty big one, if you hit it just right. The bonus of that is that the physical barricade would protect you from the resulting blast.
2) Spend a FP, run up to the barrier and pop some grenades in through the firing slits.
As stated previously, they might not fit.
3) Spend a FP, grab one of the repeaters, stick the barrel through one of the firing slits and go rock 'n' roll (assuming I could do all of that in one action round).
At the moment, all your targets are on the other side of the barricade, and dismounting the repeater is not a simple task. You're also not sure the repeater would fit through the rifle slot - the barrel is bigger than a rifle. You would also have a very limited field of fire due to the slots. It's not a bad idea, I'm just pointing out it may not be as effective. On the plus side, it will give the troopers on the other side something bigger to worry about.
4) Spend a FP, run up to the barrier, Force-grab Ch'lana's lightsaber (assuming I can), and use it to hack my way through the barrier.
That would take some time, but you're almost certainly going to need to do that at some point regardless.
-
Is the fire suppression still in action?
Yes, visibility is reduced in the corridor, and anyone without breath masks is making endurance rolls to avoid the fumes.
-
Question about the barrier...how are the slots arranged? What are the fields of fire and where are the blind spots?
-
Not blind spots, per se, but it is possible to be right up against the barrier and not be target-able. If you're more than 3m from the barrier, they can shoot at you.
-
Craig if I still have cps I will use 1 or 2 if it will allow the explosives to be finished in 1 round but I honestly don't revenge how many I have :(
-
You started with 5. Did you use any yet?
-
You said I needed some on the lift car. I think it was 2 but not sure.
-
You should have 1 fp to use too, at an appropriate moment.
-
I show you with still having one left. Force-sensitive characters can never go below 1 FP.
Does that mean if a force sensitive character only has 1 FP, they can use it over and over in a single adventure, or they always get at least 1 back at the end?
-
They always get it back at the end.
-
Just checked Collan's sheet - he still has 3 FP.
-
Ok...So I've only used one?
-
Just used your second, unless I mis-counted.
-
Sounds right.
-
Great write up Craig! Between the writing and the dice rolling that one must have taken a while. I think we sent some major ripples through the force that round. :)
-
I agree. :)

I debate a cutscene... :) But no spoilers.

Lord Vader: "I sense a disturbance in the Force." A pause, and a chuckle. "And the disturbance is screaming, "Oh, s**t, oh, s**t, oh, s**t!"

Posted a healing topic under General.

Hey Craig, what's the damage rating for this bomb?
-
Have a vision of stormtroopers running through the halls..."Someone set us up the bomb!"
^-^
-
Hey Craig, what's the damage rating for this bomb?
You're not really sure. ~4d6 is a good guess.
-
Is that bomb small enough to fit theough a gunport?
-
Negative. It's bigger than a grenade.
-
Niil's already been to these firing slots. Could he get a stun grenade through?
-
Craig...if I drop to the ground, do I have full cover? That is, cannot be hit at all?
-
Darren...actually I may not TK them. The diff code is moderate. Basically a 9 or higher. Even with concentration, I'd only roll 3d+1. A 9 is still hard to reach...
-
No prob. We just gotta keep an eye out for more grenades/missiles coming through those damned slots . . .
-
Assuming the light repeaters didn't get fried when the power generator went kablooie, do they have slots for standard power packs? I don't have the game stats for the light repeaters handy.
-
Niil's already been to these firing slots. Could he get a stun grenade through?
No, nothing larger than microgrenades can fit. Your stun grenades are too big.
-
Craig...if I drop to the ground, do I have full cover? That is, cannot be hit at all?
You can get an effective dodge of 5D by dropping down and turtling, even if you take no dodge action.
-

You're not sure. You'd need to spend an action looking them over.

In regards to Ch'lana's healing DCs, because he's had a medpac applied already would they currently be;
Mortal to Incapacitated DC 20 (1 medpac already used, DC is actually 15 due to him being stabilized)
Incapacitated to Wounded twice DC 25 (2 medpacs now used, base DC is 15)
Wounded twice to Wounded once, DC 25 (3 medpacs now used, base DC is 10)
DC estimates based on the following rule;
Mulitple medpacs can be used on a character within a single day, but increase the first aid difficulty one level for each additional use.

Your figures are high by one level. Moderate is 10, the base roll for a stabilized mortally wounded character. The DC to heal him would be 12 to 15-ish (Difficult).
If I recall the general figures are:
Very Easy: 3 - 5
Easy: 6-9
Moderate: 10-15
Difficult: 16-20
Very Diff.: 21-25
Heroic: 26 and up

Ken is correct.
-
Which means Nim burning cps to get the jedi back on his feet, or waiting for Collan or Niil to use their concentrate power.
Thinking about it, that's a very powerful power. It's like getting 4 (well technically 3 after map) free cp over and over.
-
Except when they use it, they are incapable of doing anything else that round, including dodge, so there are offsets. :)
-
Yeah, I know, but there are a lot of non combat situations where it'd be a huge benefit too. Or even in a case like this, once they're no longer under fire the offsets aren't in effect.
-
When are we not under fire? ;D
-
Sorry that took so long. I got a new job but going through pre employment stuff this week. If all goes well I start EMT school in a couple of weeks. Cuz we needed more in this group, right? xD
I think it'll be at least 3 rounds before these guys can move, assuming we don't kill them accidentally, so let's hope there's no reinforcements to the reinforcements :P
-
Welcome to the club, Michelle :-)
-
It's like 3 turns to get down the corridor right? Darren, I won't be able to get to Trax in time to do much...
-
He might be retreating toward us at the same speed, though. I don't see Trax as being too keen on getting cross-fired by two battle 'mechs. ;D
-
Trax is slowly retreating down the corridor.
-
Is Ch'lana getting up this round? And possibly healing himself? :)
-
He's still unconscious. He'll need at least one more mekpack.
-
Craig...is there a risk to rolling the lightsaber to Niil?
-
I wouldn't worry about the lightsaber. Once Trax told us he was coming to us, Nill said to forget it (the old plan, that is). Better that the 5 Imps here have two people to worry about instead of one.
-
Well, it is still ignited. :)
-
I was gonna say, ignite it and see what happens :P
-
Oh, man, I can see it now . . .
Nim saw Kesh take off and though that worried her, she had to believe the girl could handle herself. In the meantime she brought out a new medpac and hoped to wake the Jedi this time.
After a brilliant display of first aid, Ch'lana's eyes flew open and focused on Nim. "Well done, Ms. Naja." Rising slowly and painfully to his feet, he grunted, "Now that I'm conscious, we can see to our shinobi friend over . . ."
Just then, a surprised trooper took aim from behind the barricade and fired, striking Ch'lana squarely in the back. The old Jedi crumpled to the deck like a sack of leaves.
"OH, COME THE FRACKING FRAK ON!" Nim screeched.
-

I thought I extinguished it...ok

Lmao... I'll admit, the thought has actually crossed my mind.
I'm out til late, will try to get posts up for like, everything else tonight.
-
FYI - Keshani will need a 15 to place the droid power core in the right spot on the wall. Trax will need a 25 to hit it at the correct time.
Every point Keshani misses her throw by increases Trax's DC by 2. Trax needs to make a mid-air shot, so the blast doesn't get absorbed by bulkhead reinforcements int he corners and fail to breech the power conduit.
-
Good thing I threw a spare cp or two into my blaster skill. :)
If Trax backs up a little more, say about 5M, would that modify his DC?
-
Heh . . . I love that last map. Reminds me of the display when the Death Star was coming within firing range of Yavin 4.
-
I'm not exactly a fan of Trax playing the part of Yavin 4. I highly doubt there's a miniaturized version of Luke Skywalker in an x-wing buzzing around near by.
-
Well, I'll see if Niil can get his hands on one of those repeaters ASAP. Or maybe some of those troopers we downed behind the barricade have more of those damned grenades/missiles.
-
If Trax backs up a little more, say about 5M, would that modify his DC?
I actually undercut the DC a little - you target zone is medium range for your pistols.
The Renegade stats are:
Model: SoroSuub ?Renegade? Heavy Blaster Pistol
Range: 3-7/25/50
You're currently ~15m from the target zone, which brings the DC to 30. You could move out to 25m without affecting the DC, though any move over 5m will incur a MAP.
-
If Trax moves 5M back, will the mech(s) that have an angle on him be in the cool(ant) zone? :)
-
They're still closing, but odds are you are going to come under fire this round unless you are way back near the barricade.
-
Okay, but if they can get an angle on me, will that mean they're within the area that's being covered by coolant? I'd hate to electrify the area only to find out that they managed to stay on the outside edge of it.
-
Updated the OOC portion of my IC post. I'll be going with cps.
-
Ummm, actually Collan and I didn't say anything about Ch'lana or him touching the Dark Side. The italics in Niil's post was a thought bubble.
-
Collan kept cutting and said to the Shinobi, "You're better at talking to Ch'lana than me. He's stopped resisting the Dark Side. I know it probably doesn't make sense but it's like Ch'lana has let himself be more open to evil and violence."
We're on an open comm so I'm assuming anything said can be heard by everyone.
-
If it helps any, what Nim said to Ch'lana had to have been on open comm too :P
-

Did he actually wave his lightsaber in Nim's face? All I remember is him igniting it prior to Superman-jumping towards the troopers . . .
-
Actually waved it? No, that's just her words for a dramatic threat. She asked him politely not to show it near trax because he's not well, instead he says no and ignites it in front of her almost like an act of defiance. That's how she perceived it and it pissed her off ^^

Plus she knew right from the start Ch'lana was highly unstable and could go nuclear any second and wasn't a fabled noble Jedi. I mean, I dunno if you guys knew that :p
-
I did!
-
True, but he's still a kitty-cat compared to Galen . . . ;)
-
When Niil used a medpack to stabilize Nightshade, did he also have to use a CP in addition to the Concentrate skill? I didn't see a call for a CP deduction.
-
True, but he's still a kitty-cat compared to Galen . . . ;)
Problem is kitty-cats don't stay kitty-cats, they grow into full sized cats.
-
Flicking a glance back down the hallway, his eyes narrowed. There, people, he just saved Trax from becoming carbonized and got himself shredded in the process. Anything else he has to do to satisfy you?
Yes actually. He can give Trax the 12,500 credits (share of the 25K bounty on Jeremy) he screwed Trax out of. :)
-
There's just no pleasing some people. ;)
-
Well, whaddya think those two 'mechs are worth? ;D
-
Right now, they're worth nothing but scrap.
Fiiine, Trax was 1/3 responsible for saving Ch'lana on the prison ship so he'll knock 1/3 off what he's owed. And because he's such a nice guy, he'll even round it down to the nearest thousand credits bringing it down to 8000. :P
-
He might just give you the section of floor plating and ask how much it was worth . . . ;D
-
Collan: "So what's Trax's issue with Ch'lana?"
Niil: "It was a bit before your time, but Jex and Trax went after Jeremy because he had a twenty-five grand bounty on his head. Ch'lana was there when they tried to take him, and he, umm, 'persuaded' them to back off."
Collan: "Twenty-five? Hell, they paid us fifty . . ."
Niil (quickly clamping his hand over Collan's comm): "Shh!"
-
He might just give you the section of floor plating and ask how much it was worth . . . ;D
Its value is equal to whatever value Ch'lana places on Trax's help when they saved his life on the prison ship.
-
Cold dude. :)
-
Cold dude. :)
Can't argue that. But it's no colder than Ch'lana not thanking them for saving his life.
But this will change things a lot. If you think that was cold I won't tell you what Trax's plan for the throne room was going to be.
-
Scared
-
*gets the popcorn*
-
Won't be much to see anymore. Trax has gained some respect for the jedi. Still doesn't like him, but he doesn't have to like someone to respect them.
-
Awww...no more drama? Booo
-
If Ch'lana uses his healing power, will that reduce the DC for future medpac use?
-
Will Nim's visor show kesh being deafened?
-
Mawp . . . mawp . . .
-
Mawp . . . mawp . . .
LOL one day, one day I *will* get it in there somehow xD
-
Will Nim's visor show kesh being deafened?
Yes.
-
Can we/should we/do we need to salvage any medpacs from the downed troopers?
We've used quite a few, Nim is completely out and used 1 of Nighshade's, Ch'lana had one used prior to this engagement. Trax used 2 on Kesh earlier, Collan is about to get one and Niil burned one on a trooper. Assuming I've covered all of them and each of us took the max of 5, that's 25 packs to start, we're down 11 and apparently things are only about to start getting real. Should have read the fine print on this mission's dossier. :)
-
I brought two into this mission. I gave one to a wookiee, but I didn't realize that smacking a trooper with a sedative required using an entire medkit. I'd think that I'd have enough stuff left over in the second medkit after doping the trooper to treat Collan. So yeah, might be time to start foraging.
-
Okay, got the right thread this time.
IC post modified to include a few words to/for Ch'lana. <sigh> Mondays...
-
Lunch got cut short. Nim will check Buzz's sensors to see what we might have ahead and behind. Sorry, I'll have more time on Thursday

Okay, got the right thread this time.

Ummmm . . . Monday was yesterday . . . ;D
-
Yeah so I kinda feel like when the gm keeps giving out free force points bad things are going to happen soon....
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
-
I had this vision of us rounding the corner and seeing Darth Vader, the Emperor and the Emperor's Guard leaning against the wall, smoking cigarettes and wearing Sith do-rags. "Reeeee-bellls . . . come out to plaaaa-yaaaaaay!" ;D
-
+1 for the Warriors reference.
-
Sorry guys. .working a marathon week of like 80 hours at my squad. I will post when I can but just wanted to give you a heads up.
-
Thoughts? We can't search 400 cells...
-
Nim reviewed the meeting recording so I think she'd probably know the names. I'm fairly sure there was more than 3, like 5?
-
There were 5, but one was the old blind jedi that Vader killed, and the other was a woman who's image was being projected by Proxy.
-
Are we talking about the senators? Or other people?
-
Senators...we have to rescue the leaders of the future Alliance. Who knows who or what else is here. Surely, there is monitoring we could access. We could try that trick we did to find Horuz...
-
I'm trying not to use ooc so I'm not looking it up. But I didn't see the body of the old dude. Nim was pretty out of it though and might have missed it.
Just so everyone knows, we do have Danny's cell number, it's displayed on the wristcomp for everyone. I think we're still under ooc plan ban so that's all I've got.
-
[OOC: Craig, please correct me if there were more, or less, than 3 senators taken. And how many people could fit on the Rogue Shadow?]
On the Rogue Shadow, it'd be cramped for any long haul trip, but you have Ch'lana's ship in the outer system which has enough room for a consular delegation. There's plenty of room on the Rogue Shadow to get to Ch'lana's ship.
-
Map?
-
Can I say it? Can I say it?
"We're doomed!"
-
"Game over man! Game over!"
"It's a trap!"
"Wands out, Harry!"
-
You can't mix different movies together. That's like a total party foul. ...

But big questions...
1. Are we cut off from the airlock?
2. Are we cut off from cell with people in them?
3. Are we cut off from each other?
4. How many royal guard are there?
5. How are we from the airlock?
6. What kinds of cover do we have?
7. What is the damage rating of our grenades?
-
8. What things can we blow up?
-
I REALLY have to stop reading the OOC stuff first . . . :P
-
Forgot one...
"We're boned."
-Bender
-
1. Are we cut off from the airlock?
Yes.
2. Are we cut off from cell with people in them?
Yes.
3. Are we cut off from each other?
Not yet. Trax and Keshani are about halfway to the far end. Ch'lana, Collan and Niil are just outside the control room. Nim appears to have vanished, and you're not sure where Nightshade is.
4. How many royal guard are there?
60 so far, but they are still filing in.
5. How are we from the airlock?
There is a docking port in this compartment, but it's a couple hundred meters away from you.
6. What kinds of cover do we have?
Some. For the folks near the control room, you could use a move to get under cover. Trax and Keshani are out in the open.
7. What is the damage rating of our grenades?
Not enough for the forces you're facing. I believe the stun grenades are 4D.
-
Are we cut off from the airlock?
How long will our rebreathers last in hard vacuum?
Does the control room still have power? Are there any signs of defenses I can turn against the imps?
-
yes, you are cut off from the airlock. It's about a hundred meters away.
Rebreathers are not the issue - vacuum will kill you.
No power in the control room. it does look like there are automated defences, but they do not have power.
-
And the airlock controls don't have power?
What is active if I can tell?
-
And the airlock controls don't have power?
What is active if I can tell?
No airlocks near you - they are in another part of this section. The closest is 100m away.
Nothing appears to have power in this area, though they managed to open the doors easy enough.
-
Easily enough to suggest the doors have juice? Do I see anything around me? Power conduits...means of escape/retreat?
-
Just on an offchance.....none of the equipment in here has a supply of flammable lubricant going to it does it? ;D
-
Or a heavy repeater or rocket launcher laying around?
-
There's no obvious power. The doors may have self-contained power, but that's not enough to do anything big with. Maybe take out one guy.
No large vats of lubricant labelled "Explode me" either.
And no heavy weapons left unattended.
-
I guess I can't burn a FP and do a mass Force suggestion: "We're not the psychos running amok throughout this station. We are, in fact, protocol droids. All of us. Yes."
I think we're glued, screwed and tattooed here.
-
Difficulty:
Control Difficulty:
Very Easy for perceptions;
Easy for memories;
Moderate for conclusions.
Sense Difficulty:
Target's control or Perception roll.
Alter Difficulty:
Very easy for slight, momentary misperceptions, minor changes to distant memories, or if the character doesn't care one way or another.
Easy for brief visible phenomena, memories less than a year old, or minor emotions regarding a coming conclusion.
Moderate for short hallucinations, memories less than a day old, or if the target has strict orders about the conclusion.
Difficult slight disguise to facial features, hallucinations which can be sensed with two senses (sight and sound, for example), memories less than a minute old, or if the matter involving the conclusion is very important to the target.
Very Difficult for hallucinations that can be sensed with all five senses, a major memory change, or if the logic is absolutely clear and coming to the wrong conclusion is virtually impossible.
So each one of those is a Moderate Sense Roll and a Very Difficult alter roll, each with a ~200D MAP.

Meep. :o

Collan: Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up. The Emperor is kill senators in little less than half an hour, so all we have to do is get in, break up the execution, steal the senators, make our escape, after I kill Darth Vader.
Ch'lana: That doesn't leave much time for dilly-dallying. What are our liabilities?
Collan: There is but one working entrance to the Throne room. And it is guarded by... sixty men.
Ch'lana: And our assets?
Collan: Your Force, Niil and Trax's blasters. Keshani's tech. Nim's slicing. Nightshade's steel. My stunning good looks.
Ch'lana: That's it? ... Impossible. If I had a month to plan, maybe I could come up with something, but this...<shakes head >
-
<actions: look around for something she can blow up, electrify or otherwise use to their advantage to kill Imps....>
Maybe you could take out a few. A rigged power pack or something. But it wouldn't even make a dent in their numbers.

+1 for Princess Bride reference
-
Ok, Collan's post was pretty impressive.
-
Was his Con roll equally if not more so? ;D
-
Ok, not sure how to proceed here. Private boards? PM's?
Trax and Keshani are in one story arc.
Ch'lana and Niil are in another.
Collan is in a third.
Nightshade is a fourth (maybe with Nim)
Nim is in a fifth (maybe with Nightshade)
-
Private boards?
-
Wow. ..that's a lot of story lines. ...
How many concurrent story lines does it take to make a gm's head explode?
-
You guys remember when Demeia was talking about time, and how sometimes fracture points arrived, where anything was possible?
This is kind of like that...
-
I can do private boards.
Maybe keep the OOC stuff here? Spoilers in PM's?
What do you guys think?
-
Yup. Works for me.
-
Me too
-
Ok, boards are set up. Can everyone see their board, and only their board?
-
I can only see mine
-
I see mine and only mine.
-
Yup, I see only mine.
-
If we all get thru this, Collan will buy the first round of lum. Except for Keshani, she gets fizzyglug.
-
No, no no no no no . . . .
Collan will but several rounds of lum. And I think Keshani would demand one as well regardless of her age. ;D
-
Collan will be getting thoroughly sloshed after this...

So...since craig said we already botched the no ooc stuff. ..would just like to point out that kesh has a subdermal tracking implant....

:o
Well, frakkety frikking frak.

More meant it could possibly be a current good thing...pretty sure the imps already know who and where she is..

I'm gonna require a lot more hardcore than lum after this. Just sayin :P

Ditto. I'm thinking a few Starshine Surprises. ;D

I'm sad I didn't help pull off your con. It would have been hilarious. Ooc wise at least :p

I can see mine.
-
I agree whole heartedly with michelle!
-
Collan is getting career counseling...
I'm sad I didn't help pull off your con. It would have been hilarious. Ooc wise at least :p
Be glad...career counseling didn't go well.
-
Haha. Nim could see that coming a mile away :P
-
Keeeeenn! Lol. Stop being all adult and stuff!
-
Collan: "My Emperor! Ummm, all has went as planned. I infiltrated the rebels as per my father's wishes, and have brought them to you!"
Palpatine: "Sooooo . . . let me see if I understand this correctly. Your father - Darth Banen - gave you these orders? The same man that has been seeking you for two decades? Yes?"
Collan: "Uhhh . . . yes . . .?
-
I can always scrap the idea, and make things public again.
-
Corey didn't tell me anything. :) Niil was there when Collan was told that he was being taken to the Emperor. I kinda gathered that the Emperor wouldn't believe a "I'm dad's secret agent" story (no offense to Corey!).
-
I wanna see! I hate secrets :(
-
Craig...is that enough for a roll?
-
Yeah, I made a roll.
Nim's references to nonverbal communication makes some connections for you. Lorrdian origins would be one possibility.
-
Craig, what's a majo? Did he just insult her? Lmfao
What's a Kanji word for paranoid drama queen? :P
-
Heh . . . demon woman. Yup. ;D
-
Nim's not sure the meaning, but it clear it is not complimentary. :)
-
It does sound like a Nekami dialect.
-
What's a Kanji word for paranoid drama queen? :P
Google Translate says:

?What in the kark? Did you just...ward off evil?!
I literally had root beer spraying out of my nose.

?What in the kark? Did you just...ward off evil?!
I literally had root beer spraying out of my nose.
I so can't wait to see these boards...
-
Nim sighs, a sword sticking out of her chest. "Yep, shoulda helped Collan."
-
Gaaaaah! Curse anticip . . .
. . . ation!
-
"Ah, curse your sudden yet inevitable betrayal!"
-
So, besides Kelly, are you guys OK with the private boards?
-
Yup
-
I have to admit, some of the OOC comments being made are testing the limits of my ability to wait for the other threads to be made public but in general yes, I'm okay with the private boards.
-
Ben and Michelle, are you guys waiting for me?
-
No sir, just haven't been able to post yet. I'll get it up today.
-
kk.
-
When cultures collide.. Nims writing a new journal entry. Or designing a new tat, one of the two.
-
New tat? What about this one? ;D
-
Just so everyone is in the loop...
things are progressing. There will likely be some action on a a few private boards shortly, but for the moment only Nim and Nightshade are active.
I didn't get a post up tonight, but I'll try and get something up later this evening.
-
double checking...standard move covers 10 meters, yes?
Oh and Trax owes me big for using myself as a target and trying to keep Nim protected.
-
Yes standard move is 10m.
-
double checking...standard move covers 10 meters, yes?
Oh and Trax owes me big for using myself as a target and trying to keep Nim protected.
She did volunteer to go... :P
-
double checking...standard move covers 10 meters, yes?
Oh and Trax owes me big for using myself as a target and trying to keep Nim protected.
Assuming he learns of what happened, and we survive/escape, Nightshade's drinks will be on Trax.
-
Here's another teaser...
Meatshield FTW!
-
Lol!
-
Remember Total Recall?
https://youtu.be/icuJc2LxfGM?t=80
-
Haha. Love the "squish" the dead body makes when he steps on it.
-
And, unless I am mistaken, Nightshade has just used his first Force point...
... likely the first of several.
-
Sounds like things are 'getting real' :)
Didn't he use one in the control room or to get into the control room in the docking bay?
-
I stand corrected. :)
-
Posts up for Nightshade, Nim, Niil and Collan.
-
Ben, I show Nightshade with 1 FP left. Do you concur?
1 starting
+1 for Force is with you
-1 for docking bay
+1 for Force is with you
-1 for Alpha containment.
-
Yes, I concur with this.
-
Sounds fun. I'll try and post after my 11 hr class >.> airway management today, woo
-
Egad, eleven hours . . . :P
-
Sounds fun. I'll try and post after my 11 hr class >.> airway management today, woo
It takes 11 hours to understand that blocking the airway is a bad thing? :)
-
....and that tongues can be pesky :p
-
....and that tongues can be pesky :p
This literally just came up. I had to lol
-
Hahahaha. How about nasal airways are fun?
-
Nah, but about to watch some 90s "airway cam" video for intubation. Can't wait for dinner
-
Posts up for Niil, Nightshade, and Collan.
-
Posts up for Niil, Nightshade.

Waiting on Nightshade. Post up for Collan.

I will reply later tonight! We're at the Spy Museum!

The spy museum?!

My cover is John Campbell, a clothing salesman from the US in Budapest on business for two weeks. I had too meet Irenke Czako about exhibiting at next year's International Textile Fair, and get the exhibitor instructions that included a microdot. I successfully completed my mission.
-
And then told us about it. Tsk, tsk.
See you soon, tovarishch. ;D
-
It's Wednesday already.. Geez. I have my first emt test today so I'll be afk mostly.
-
Good luck!
-
Kick ass!
-
Good luck!
-
Thanks. Got a 79% on it, 4th highest. Which is a lot more than I was expecting, but worrisome when the average was a 65. One instructor said they purposely make them harder so the National is easier, one says that's a load of horse doodoo. So I dunno what to make of it :P either way, damn that was hard. None of what my group studied was on the test. Like I felt woefully unprepared. 85% of it was scenarios so all the memorization I did on oxygen rate for instance was practically for nothing. And several questions were on a chapter we haven't covered yet such as PCRs. So I was kinda pissed.
But so happy I didn't just bomb it although I swore up and down that I did.
-
Congrats Michelle!
-
Rawk on! And book-slap them for asking questions on stuff you haven't even covered!
-
Are you guys using Brady?
-
Not sure the short name for it. The Orange Book? :P Emergency Care and trans, 10th edition. I don't know if intubation is in it, but we've been learning it, I guess it's relatively new skill to Basics. I remember watching an ep of Scrubs years ago and now Im like.. I did that last week. He's a doctor.. the heck was his deal? :P
Oh, and the words of advice to us was, if you put in a King... don't rip it out. ...or let the patient.
-
Ah..you're using the other one. Still, don't they have online practice questions you can do that model the national test?
Are you allowed to completely intubate? Or just use Kings? We can't use Kings yet in PA (or combitubes) but they are supposedly working on it. There's a lot of pushback though.
-
combitubes are on the syllabus for later so I guess so. Granted I've only done this on a dummy so I imagine it's probably pretty difficult in a real situation. :)
were you guys allowed to use the Heimlich name? apparently the family filed so we're only allowed to call it abdominal thrusts now. Lame, but my instructor says he was a d-bag anyway that only did one good thing that doesn't make up for all the horrible things. (clearly I don't know history)
-
Nope. But people use it anyway. Lol
-
I always felt that the heinie-lick maneuver was way more effective anyway. >:D
-
Suuure why not. Can't be any less effective than cpr apparently :P
-
Eep. Did I call it about the woman probably being Maris? Oh, frakkety-frak. :P
OOC knowledge, of course . . . ;D
-
Unless that was in a PM somewhere, I see no record of you "calling it."
:)
-
Yup. Got a few curiosity PMs. I said I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the Zabrak woman is someone called Maris Brood.
When asked about her, I just said check the Wookiepedia. I think I put in some laugh icons as well . . .
And even if you played her according to the novels, I know that it would all be OOC knowledge anyway. ;)
-
Sounds like Trax isn't the only one making friends.
-
Just to keep everyone in the loop, lots of action for Nim, Niil, Collan and Nightshade today.
I expect Trax and Keshani to be having some activity shortly.
-
If we are able to overcome the stun damage, does that mean we get to act normally (using the term loosely for Trax :) ) for the round or rounds?
-
It's a round-by-round thing, and incurs a MAP.
-
A force enhanced strength score of 7D+1 vs 8D. Not totally out of the realm of possibility.
How far away is the guard from Trax? Is the force pike or pistol from the fallen guard within reach without moving?
-
Both are within reach. He has a heavy blaster pistol and a force pike within reach.
-
Okay, last ones (I think), can Trax roll onto the downed guard in an effort to negate the effects of the stun field (after this round), and would shooting the panel deactivate the stun field or make it a hell of a lot harder to turn off?
-
Maybe you could use the body as an insulator. The body appears to be clear of the energy.
For the panel, you cannot tell from here. Maybe it would kill it. Maybe it would prevent someone from shutting it down.
-
Anything nearby that I can use to get off the floor? I'm guessing that contact with the floor is the issue with taking stun damage.
-
All the structures are energized, cell frames included. You might be able to use your grapple (if you can overcome the stun damage) and use that to get you out of contact with any conductors.
-
The guards must have insulated boots and gloves. I don't suppose that there's any insulating material anywhere close at hand (ie. rubber) that could negate or at least lessen the effects of the field?
-
There must be something else going on - the stun field is way stronger than rubber soles can protect from.
-
If their suits had metal in them wouldn't it make the current go around them? Kinda like being inside a car in a lightning storm?
-
Nope, would fry them crispy...the car saves you because it is a hollow conductor, not because of the metal.
-
Would STR or Stamina count towards resisting the stun?
-
Str.
-
Decided to stick with the force point plan.
-
Just to check, what is Keshani's status health wise? She was working with a penalty before due to concussion or whatever...did that go away?
-
yeah I think so
-
So no penalty to health at the moment?
-
nope
-
Who has the best command skill?
-
I'm probably going to use my last FP on two shots to take down a guard...
-
Who has the best command skill?
No idea. I'll have 4D base.
-
Niil had 4D.
-
Oh yeah, order the crazy psycho killer around...
May I remind you I need you to survive this? :o
-
Oh, I hope to survive this. ;) That's why I want to have the two nasty Jedi deal with the inquisitor. Niil's already seen what a skilled lightsaber user can do with blaster bolts. :P
-
Did I break you guys? :S
-
Just a bad day at work and now a bad day at home, should have something up later.
-
Ok. No sweat. The deafening silence just worried me. :)
-
There are 2 troopers left right? Niil is taking a shot at one, but will Nightshade be within range to take a swing at the other?
-
No, he'd have to go out of his way. Range is 20m.
-
Then I'll change one of my four shots to target that last trooper.
-
ok.
-
Craig, sorry if I'm flogging a dead womp rat here, but does Nill actally have a FP left? His avatar's still showing 1 Karma pt., but I've honestly lost track here. :P
-
I show you zero. I missed the one where you blew up the power generator at the barricade.
-
Heh . . . I was just looking at that one a few moments ago.
-
What's more likely to help Trax hit the inquisitor, combining actions or everyone taking their own shots?
-
What's more likely to help Trax hit the inquisitor, combining actions or everyone taking their own shots?
Depends? Ever deflection with a target is an action. Every attack with the saber is an action. It depends on if every deflection regardless of target is also an action.
-
What's more likely to help Trax hit the inquisitor, combining actions or everyone taking their own shots?
Given how she is defending, everyone taking their own shots. But everyone who shoots may get their own blaster bolt back at them.
It's a toss up though, in a way. With coordination, it all comes down to one roll, one deflect / resist. Greater chance of overcoming her defences (because you're gaining plusses), but the more shots she takes, the more MAP's she has to absorb.
-
MAPs is what wore her down last round.
-
But those bonuses need to be higher than the D I lose to the command roll to coordinate everyone, which means at least extra 2 shooters. Even then, if two other people make her take actions that's 2D less to dodge my shots.
Unlikely to get a post up, Connie is working for the first part of the day and we've got a funeral late afternoon.
-
Craig, so you're rolling each deflection as an action then? Regardless of whether or not it's directed?
-
So, in a combat round, everyone does their first actions and any defensive rolls apply for the entire sequence. Reaction rolls (dodge, melee parry, brawling pary) last for an entire action sequence. Then everyone does their second actions, which may trigger additional reaction rolls, with additional MAP's. That's just the defensive stuff. Multiple types of attack (melee, brawling, dodge) are each separate categories, and if someone is under multiple forms of attack, they would take multiple action penalties to defend.
In the case of Lightsabre Combat, blocking a blaster shot is an action that lasts the entire action sequence. However, reflecting blaster bolts is an additional action for each attempt. Also, absorb/dissipate energy is an action for every attempt.
Things are a little different with FP use.
Under a FP, initial order is by perception, but for characters using FP, for each action beyond the first, I subtract 5 from the roll and that is when the subsequent action happens. Attacks that trigger reaction rolls will trigger new reactions, with whatever MAP's that apply at the time. For those not spending FP, a target's current reaction roll is the one that is applicable at the time they attack.
Does that make sense?
Perhaps an example.
Trax (Perception 16) spends a FP and fires four times (MAP 3). Because he is firing two-handed, two shots occur at the same time. His target is the inquisitor (Perception 14), who also spends a FP and attacks Ch'lana 4 times (MAP 3). Trax's first shots fire, and the inquisitor decides to deflect each shot, rolling each deflection separately (MAP 4 and 5 respectively). That triggers a dodge from Trax (MAP now 4). The the Inquisitor then attacks Ch'lana with a MAP of 5. Ch'lana attacks, triggering another reaction roll from the Inquisitor (MAP 6).
Trax's second set of shots fires. The inquisitor decides not to reflect, and merely defends. (MAP 7, one roll covers both shots). She attacks Ch'lana again (MAP 7). Ch'lana attacks, triggering another reaction roll from the inquisitor (MAP 7). Collan fires at the inquisitor, but her previous roll still applies, so no additional MAP.
Does that help? Or confuse the issue?
-
I'm good...
-
Total 747. But I'm not a stats person and don't care :P
-
Kind of half got it, but it's enough that when I'm closer to normal brain activity I'm sure it'll make sense.
Sorry for the hold up everyone, at this point I'm trying to decide if I want to use up my last fp, and wondering if the inquisitor has any left as well. Despite it looking like after this we'll be home free, I don't know if I want to trust how it looks. If every one of us is out of force points and we hit one final major hurdle I'd like to be able to deal with it effectively. And by deal with it I mean shoot it, because let's be honest, that's how Trax deals with pretty much every hurdle. :)
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcQBSRTf1Ho
Because, yeah... >:D
-
Blasphemer! :)
Will post IC tomorrow morning.
-
Wait a sec . . . there's a panel behind the Inquisitor?
>:(
-
That's a hope more that actual knowledge.
-
Craig, was the damage roll close enough that adding CPs to resist would have made a difference for Trax?
-
24 to 15, if memory serves.
-
So that'd would be a yes. The difference there is 9, even a roll of a 1 would have changed his status to wounded instead of incapacitated.
Damage greater than resist roll by
0-3 Stunned
4-8 Wounded
9-12 Incapacitated
13-15 Mortally Wounded
16+ Killed
-
His damage was somewhere in the 9-12 range. I don't recall exactly.
-
Is there any way to snap Collan back into consciousness any faster?
-
Medpac might but my chemistry is seriously messed up right now
-
So since Ch'lana just went all Obi-wan on us, I guess that makes Collan and Niil Luke, Nightshade is Han (since he decided to leave Ch'lana behind), Trax is Chewbacca since he is so gruff, and Nim will play the part of Leia...now just need someone for Keshani to be...
-
That whole thing made me miss playing a dark jedi.
Also, funny how ya'll passed around nim like a hot potato. "Ew, girl cooties! You take her! No, you! She's yours man! Heck no, give her to the droid!"
-
Yeah, that inquisitor had nothing on Rak...we wouldn't have escaped him. Neither would the base, the planet, and possibly that sector of Space...but hey if ya wanna make an omelette ya gotta break some eggs, amirite? >:D
-
Yeah, he was good at breaking things, especially himself. It was fun til you got me captured. lol
-
And got you out again, don't forget. :P
-
That whole thing made me miss playing a dark jedi.
Also, funny how ya'll passed around nim like a hot potato. "Ew, girl cooties! You take her! No, you! She's yours man! Heck no, give her to the droid!"
I wasn't about to argue with a droid that has advanced medical knowledge and the lightsaber combat capability of giving Galen a run for his credits. ;D
-
Yeah, that inquisitor had nothing on Rak...we wouldn't have escaped him. Neither would the base, the planet, and possibly that sector of Space...but hey if ya wanna make an omelette ya gotta break some eggs, amirite? >:D
And Rak has nothing on Jedi Master Nicholas Tarwin 😈
Vader woulda been very hardpressed with him :)
-
...now just need someone for Keshani to be...
R2-D2?
-
...now just need someone for Keshani to be...
R2-D2?
Depends. Are we sticking strictly to the Star Wars films, or do the animated shows count? If the animated ones are OK, then I'd say Chopper. Definitely Chopper. ;D
-
How long is Trax out for, and how long is the trip to Kashyyk.
Assuming Mariah, I mean Keshani :P stays on the Rogue Shadow, there are some skills that she could be considered as a teacher for Trax. Same goes with Nightshade, assuming he wouldn't mind a sparring partner.
-
Trax will be out of a while. Proxy is not about to let you re-injure yourself. :)
-
What?! After Trax was such a model patient the last time why would he be worried about something like that? :)
-
[OOC: Just in case it slipped anyone's mind, the only people who came out of there with the same gear they came in with are Nim and Nightshade. Everyone else lost their original gear, and you're using Stormtrooper rifles / heavy blaster pistols / force pikes.]
/me glares at Trax.
-
/me glares at Trax.
Trax whistles innocently.
-
Graaaah, frakking Imperial scum. They took Niil's two heavy blaster pistols! He even named them Heckle and Jeckle! And his training saber . . . oooo, don't even get me STARTED on that! And his favorite blast vest with all the blaster burns in it that made Niil look like a Dalmatian . . . good times, good times. :'(
At least he has two new heavy blaster pistols and an Imperial blaster rifle out of all this mess! Kinda undecided as to what he should call his new blaster pistols . . . Sam and Dean, or Rick and Michonne? ;D
-
OK, I have everyone's FP awards up. Feel free to double check me.
-
Isn't Niil Incapacitated? Is he sleep talking? :)
-
He's had the Control Pain power up and running since he was sabered. He wanted to stay awake at least until they got safely out of the Horuz system.
-
My bad. I had seen this and assumed it meant he was Incapacitated in the medical bay.
[Unless Niil wants to press his luck, he's incapacitated in the medical bay.]
-
Yeah . . . technically he is incapacitated; he's just overriding the pain receptors right now so he can at least stay awake, move and perform actions if he needed to.
-
Uh huh. Just so you know, I'm not sharing the tank :P now, if Maris needs it, welll I think that can be arranged. *brow wiggle*
-
Niil will just grab a wheelchair and bag of popcorn. ;D
-
BTW: If there is stuff happening in the public thread to want to be part of, feel free to jump in.
Stuff going on in the personal boards should be considered invite-only and OOC information if you are not participating.
-
OOC: Any discussions for Trax, Nim and Niil? We'll be on board for 2 weeks.
I'm not sure , she's in the tank for nearly the whole time and I'm not sure she'll be chatty when she gets out. I'll think about it
-
Bet she'd share her tank with Trax...
-
Depending on how it's approached, Niil could get some stuff out of Trax.
-
Gotcha.
New thread on Niil's scratch pad regarding the time spent on the Rogue Shadow BTW, but I'll probably have to wait and hear from Craig regarding two things that Niil is attempting first.
-
Hey Craig, just wondering what ship I ended up on for the trip so I know where to plug in for any RP
-
The consular ship, Ch'lana's ship.
-
Was Buzz left on board the Rogue Shadow, or did someone take him on board Ch'lana's ship?
Also, what kind of difficulty level are we looking at for repairing him?
-
He was left on the Rogue Shadow.
He's mortally wounded, comparable repair rolls to first aid for the equivalent damage to a biological being.
-
Any positive mods apply if the person attempting the repairs took, oh, a week?
-
yeah
-
Please bear with me here. I'm still trying to crunch the numbers here to see if Niil should even attempt this.
Base DC number to meet or beat to fix Buzz = 16-20 if I read it correctly
Niil's Tech skill is . . . laughable = 2D+1
Concentrate (if applicable) = 4D
Taking a week to do repairs = ??
Niil's injuries after a week of convalescence = ?
-
Concentrate is for in-round activities only, and cannot be kept "up". Repairing Buzz will be the work of several days at least, so Concentration is not helpful for that task.
By this time, Niil would be fully healed.
-
So even with several days spent on trying to repair Buzz, I take it there's a pretty good chance that he could make things worse due to his low Tech level?
-
It's possible.
-
Ehhh . . . I think I'll leave Buzz alone and leave it to the tech goddess on the other ship. :P
-
I dunno what my penalties are atm but I plan on fixing him when she's able. If nobody beats her stats I mean. She managed to fix proxy and proxy is fixing her now, ain't that sweet :)
-
Oh just open the door already. But I don't know if you'll hear/see that beautiful lullaby in time :)
-
I hope so. I hear Trax has a lovely singing voice. ;D
-
A little off key at times but it won't make dogs howl or anything. :)
-
Nope, Just bats that inexplicably get into mid-air collisions . . .
-
Sorry mate, but I beat ya to the punch :) and yes I left juuust enough leeway for Niil to hear the lullabye.
-
I found something else for Niil to do. It wasn't fun to write.
-
Niil's pretty messed up too. Is Collan seriously the most stable of the bunch? :P
-
I found something else for Niil to do. It wasn't fun to write.
Are you sure you want to miss this once in a life time opportunity to hear trax sing and be all sweet? I did specifically make sure he could. I also asked craig to hold off in bringing in proxy :)
-
And dont forget the Jayne hat.
Loved that thing.
-

Nope. Trax is still as touchy as a scalded cat. Niil did hear a bit of the song, though. ;) Besides, Niil had to find Mariah eventually, and events sort of set up the opportunity.
-
And dont forget the Jayne hat.
Loved that thing.
Crap, I forgot about that. Rrrgh. :P
-
I thought Star Wars medicine was supposed to be advanced...why is Collan using a shoulder blade to remove the tracker? :o
-
Still gotta open the skin...that will never change. What matters is that it's painless and functionally healed.
-
Well sure, but I'd use a scalpel, not a scapula to do that...just sayin'
-
Ungh! Why this scapula not cutting? Thak! Pass me flint shard! ;D
-
Lol. Use a pair of Ice skating shoes! A thousand and one uses..
-
Bunch of comedians :p is it sad that my phone auto correct recognizes scapula before scalpel?
-
She is getting angry. "You would prefer maybe we had been recaptured and you put back on the table? What I did..."
She stops, closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.
"Forget it."
She looks at Keshani as she gets up. "You ever want to talk about options, come find me. I hang out near the engine room."
Maris looks at Collan, but she's talking to Keshani when she says, "Come alone."
She then melts away before your eyes.
LOL. And I thought Trax was the expert on making new friends. ;D
-
That's Khaana Grayza to you uncultured humans :P
Lorrdians honor their ancestors with using their names as part of their own name. They get to be reeeeeally long. She saved everyone a headache with "etc etc etc"
-
Well, it's not as bad as "Malcolm Peter Brian Telescope Adrian Blackpool Rock Stoatgobbler John Raw Vegetable Brrroooo Norman Michael (rings bell) (blows whistle) Edward (sounds car horn) (does train impersonation) (sounds buzzer) Thomas Moo... -
Did... did you take the time to write all that?
Good God, no! ;) Cut and paste from Monty Python.
