Title: Nightshade and Nim: Thrown Together
Post by: GM Craig on February 26, 2016, 06:43:27 PM
Nim moves slowly up the darkened passage, typing quickly on her wristcomp to get Buzz to return.

Suddenly, out of the nowhere, there is a sudden movement and before she can react, a hand closes over her mouth and pulls her down.

A voice barely whispers in her ear, "Be silent."

Her heart lept in her chest as she was dragged down, and even though Nim complied with the demand, her body stiffened as if priming to strike at any given moment. The woman kept her hands on the rifle in a ready position to either take out her assailant or assist him, not assuming for one second that it was the MIA Nekami.

It probably was him.

But it might be some clever agent trying to sniff him out.

Nah, it was probably the Nekami.

For this guy's sake he'd better karkin' hope he's the Nekami, she was going right for his jewels at point blank range if it wasn't.

Nightshade released the woman as he hissed out, 'They could track our comms, we shouldn't use them needlessly.  Now what is your plan?'
Title: Re: Thrown Together

Nim turned off her open comm.

?Oh you are so lucky,? she whispered back.

?It wasn?t needless and as far as I can tell the comms were disconnected. They believed him and took him straight to the emperor. But I could tell without trying that it was a ruse, which means we have a good two seconds before le boss figures it out and starts questioning why and what he was hiding back here that he would sacrifice himself for.

The original plan was the find this ?Danny.? But while the girl may trust her, I don?t, but she might prove to be an utterly invaluable asset to getting everyone out of here. So I?m going to go have a little agent heart to heart chat.?

The woman pointed to where the cell is supposed to be.

"How did you know it was a ruse?"  Nightshade was curious about the certainty radiating from the women when she spoke.  He really didn't care about the motivations of Collan, but there was something that he had to know about his partner of circumstance, something that just didn't sit right from the way that she had spoken of the situation.
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nim Naja on February 26, 2016, 08:34:55 PM
"I risked a peek," she shrugged. "I'm one hundred percent sure. Normally those two humans wouldn't be able to lie their way out of a paper bag. They're easy reads because everything about them just screams: gestures, tics, quirks, vocal tone. But Collan had all of the elements of a good con going right there, including giving up something detrimental to the group in order to be believed. Niil might have believed it too, I didn't get to study long enough. The troopers believed him enough and that's all we needed."

The more that Nim talks, the more that she can sense Nightshade recoiling from her, until he actually seems to jump backwards, hissing and drawing his blades. "You are one of those majo, aren't you? Don't look at me, don't read me, leave me alone."  He makes a sign in the air before you and says with disgust, "Lorrdians cannot be trusted."
Title: Re: Thrown Together

Nim?s eyes widened and her hands raised, releasing the rifle though it still hung there on the strap.

?What in the kark? Did you just...ward off evil?! Mate, if anything your kind are the.. the majo.?

She then mimicked the gesture he used as if warding off evil too.
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nightshade on February 27, 2016, 02:42:07 PM
Nightshade looked about to turn Nim into a popsicle before he noticed her make the same hand gesture he had.  "Don't presume to mock me and call me evil.  Your kind practice mind reading and know nothing of honor...you just sell your unnatural abilities to the highest bidder."

Nim gets a brief glimpse of pain and loss, anger, and confusion, before the Shinobi tries to resume his normal reserved mask of emotional constipation.

[OOC: Just a note - the helmet and mask, combined with the shadowsilk suit and the nekami penchant for subdued nonverbal tells mean Nim would have a difficult time reading Nightshade, so factor that into the RP.]
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nim Naja on February 27, 2016, 03:12:57 PM
Ooc: yeah, Ben will have to tell me what if anything actually comes through. Are vocals distorted too? Movements and gestures are likely all she might notice but I don't know just how muted they'd be.

I mean, obviously he doesn't know all that yet xD
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nim Naja on March 03, 2016, 03:43:06 PM
Nim had seen that brief glimpse of emotion from Nightshade even though she kind of didn?t want to due to what he?d said, but it wasn?t like she could just turn it off. Most of the time she couldn?t turn off her own outward emotions without trying very hard, a kind of curse of growing up amonst her kind, as evidenced by her own recoil this time, partly in shock, partly actually hurt by the accusations. Normally she could shrug off such racist comments so it was a reaction likely borne to either Nightshade or his culture.

?Reading minds, mate? No, no.. that?s what Jedi do.?

And glitterstim users, but he doesn?t need to hear that.

?I don?t expect you to suddenly believe me, trust me, or even let me live. But it?s just nonverbal communication that technically anyone can learn. I?ll spare you a history lesson, but we had to practice it for the very survival of our people. A millenia later I use my learned skills just as you use yours, and it gives me great pride as a Lorrdian to do so. Especially to fight and die here today, to prevent billions more from suffering the horrendous fate that my people had. That is honorable to my ancestors. Is it not honorable to have saved your life back there, knowing you are on your own gimu, even though I'm sure it has nothing to do with the rebellion??

The nexu was already out of the bag, might as well go feed it.

Nightshade was visibly taken aback by the words of the woman in front of him.  She could see personal and culture history struggling with the simple truths of what he was seen and heard in his brief interactions with her.

Finally he makes a shrug that seems to mean reluctant acceptance and simply says, "What is your plan?"
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nim Naja on March 03, 2016, 10:42:25 PM
That went better than expected?. Nim knew damned well the Nekami would have turned her into a popsicle right then and there if he felt he needed to.

?My plan is to stay alive long enough to tell you the history of my people, and perhaps earn the honor of hearing some of yours. I am very well-travelled but only know a little of your culture. Not enough to be killed for, anyway.?

She smiled, just a little, and briefly showed him one of the tats on her forearm, an image of a man - or woman - in traditional kabuki dress along with a vivid spring cherry blossom branch forming a background. Both were paintings more than common tattoos and in stark contrast to the other odd assortment of symbols of other races or species going up her arms. They cleverly hid a multitude of scars underneath.

?You probably meant here though. Umm.. finding Danny?s cell, making sure it's actually her and that she's not changed her mind.. Maybe finding out who these other prisoners are. I imagine getting into and out of ?Max is easier than wherever they took the Jedi, which is nuts considering how difficult ?Max is going to be. If we can find or claim an officer?s uniform I might be able to pull off a Collan and get us in; since I don't have a stealth field like you and Buzz it might be easier than me sneaking in. You'd be able to piggyback without leaving or hiding bodies. Either way we'd have to sneak our folks out without sending all of the troops on the 4 or 5 of us again.?

?So, ah, if you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear it??

"Perhaps, if this Danny is on our side, then her cell would make a good base of operations...it would be one of the last places they would look for you.  You should be able to get Buzz to remote in to any terminals from there, and then I would be able to move around to look for the others without you having to worry about sneaking or bluffing your way through."

"Good call. I haven't heard a code change, but hopefully security is a little more relaxed. You have the map, yes?"

Although, she had to admit, she had been so looking forward to opening Trax's cell herself.

Securing a copy of the map, Nightshade did a quick once over of his gear and then turned again to Nim, "Ready to get Danny?"

He slips down the hallway towards the cell in question, staying a few steps ahead to scout out the way.

Actions: sneak, find Danny.

"Yep. When we get there, you open the cell and I will rush in. I'm not particularly intimidating but I have to see her immediate reaction before she has time to think about one."

Ooc: Sneak to it. If the cell has self contained power, will it have lights inside too?

"Understood."
Title: Re: Thrown Together

Security continues to be lax in your area - it seems the trooper are occupied elsewhere. You ghost up the corridor and through the open door to Danny's cell bay, all without encountering anyone. Nim leaves Buzz to observe the door, and the two of you head down the cell bay to the last cell on the left.

When you get about halfway down, main power comes back on. You freeze for a moment when the bay doors close, but Nim still has contact with Buzz and there is no movement in your area. You make your way to the call, and in a few moments Nim has the panel sliced. The door slides open, and Nim rushes into the cell.

Sitting on a bench in the featureless cell is a female human or near-human. Her dark hair is frazzled and matted. She had been laying on her side, cradling her head in her arms, but with a squeal she crabs back into a corner of the cell where she draws her knees up to her chest, shielding her face with trembling hands. Through the bruised and misshapen hands, Nim can see one eye is swollen shut, and her lip has been split. Her head has a couple of large lumps, and her face and bare arms are covered with bruises and lacerations. She is shaking violently, obviously terrified, and at least three fingers appear to have been broken.

She sits there helpless, sobbing in terror.

Anyone seeing the woman could tell she was genuinely afraid. To Nim's Lorrdian perceptions, the girl's nonverbal tells scream terror and pain.

Post by: Nim Naja on March 04, 2016, 03:33:48 PM
Nim had rushed into the cell commando-style expecting a very different scene. Upon seeing the extreme state of the prisoner she lowered her ready rifle from her shoulder and blinked for a moment, an expletive eventually escaping her ruby lips.

?Osik.?

She moved to the cell wall but stayed a distance, not for her safety but to keep from scaring the woman even more. Nim wasn?t sure if she wished this was all an act or was relieved that it wasn?t. She did, however, feel that her planned interrogation session was suddenly about to instead be a counseling session.

?Umm hi. I?m Nim. Are you Danny??

Nim cordially gave her own name and used the pet name Kesh had used. That along with her civilian clothes would hopefully take the intimidation out of the situation...at least some. She wasn't sure what to say to Nightshade just yet.

The girl hesitantly lowers her hands a bit.

"Please..."

Then her eyes focus on you, and she calms slightly.

"What... who are you?" she says with a quivering lip.
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nim Naja on March 04, 2016, 07:21:54 PM
Nim slung her rifle, confident that the girl wasn?t going to attack in some form and obviously didn?t need to be intimidated.

?My friends and I are on a mission and happened to rescue a slave girl that is very insistent that we find and free someone important to her. If you want help I?ll try regardless, but I need to confirm your name and rank so I can stop looking. You're definitely younger than I was expecting.?

She called softly to the door. ?Nightshade, may I borrow a medpac? I?m fresh out.?

The Shinobi poked his head around the door and took one look at the girl before deciding that she didn't need any additional stimulation.  He tossed a medpak to Nim and stayed outside the cell for now, keeping watch.

The girl remains curled up, but there is curiosity in her eyes.

She jumps a little at Nightshade's appearance, but relaxes when he quickly leaves.

She looks Nim over before she answers. "Second Lieutenant Danielle Webster. You rescued a slave girl? What mission? How did you even get in here?"

She seems to be recovering from her trauma a little. She's still very afraid, but wheels are turning in her head.
Title: Re: Thrown Together
Post by: Nim Naja on March 04, 2016, 10:19:24 PM
Nim caught the pac and thanked the Nekami. She was also thankful he stayed outside; she didn't want to ask but knew the sight of him would just terrify the girl even more.

?I have answers, but may I?? She gestured to the medpac, obviously wanting to help ease her pain but also multi-task. Nim was hesitant at speaking freely, but at this point none of the information really mattered with everyone already in custody. Danny could spill her guts and still not say much that wasn't already known.

?It's fairly complicated. There are Imperial senators, part of a real, viable large scale rebellion, that were taken prisoner and brought to this giganto station for execution. My team, made up of Jedi and rebels, banded together to save them and snuck in and got as far as this block before all but two of us were captured, including the slave girl that we rescued. Keshani, or Demaia or whatever she went by. Now we're all split four different ways.?

Technically five different ways, assuming Galen was still out there somewhere. He had to be, if the station was still on high alert.

?I'm a slicer and former spook. My friend there is stealthy combat. What was your role aboard the station??

Nim provided a calm and confident exterior without being overbearing. She genuinely hoped this Danny would be able to help in some way, they could use just about anything right now.

Ooc: Don't know if I technically need the medpac but I'll use it if necessary as she talks, assuming Danny accepts it.

Your gentle touch seems to help relax her, and she does not resist.

"I... I was a junior technical services officer assigned to this command. One of my tasks was to inspect recent work for compliance with specifications, and assess progress variances from the master schedule."

You work through the most grievous of her injuries with the medpack, and can tell her pain levels have reduced. She watches you work, still uncertain, but not resisting.

When you are done she says, "Thank you. The slave girl... she was recaptured? I never knew her name."

Her wheels are turning again, likely aided by the medpack. Still not reading any deception.

"Yes,  she was recaptured not more than 100 feet from this cell.  We sprung a trap and a horde of red armored guards filed out if nearly every single cell. They are gone or out if range now, but 11 other prisoners reside on this block. I don't recognize any of their names but you might."

Nim set the pac down on the bench  and looked over the girl again, forcing herself not to wince at the damage still left. She smiled instead. "Better."

She took a breath and thought for a moment, trying to come up with anything that might be of help to Nightshade once he leaves.

"She was taken to max along with my gunslinger friend. Two Jedi were taken to some containment center. The third.. well, he's probably with the Emperor now. That's the bad news. The good news is that the senators are most likely there as well. And that is where we need to end up once we spring everyone."

She pulled up the map of the station along with the detention areas everyone ought to be in.

"If you have any, and I mean any, ideas or know something that could help us, I'm all ears. Otherwise Nightshade will be attempting to sneak into max and I'm going to try and remote into whatever I can to assist from here. There's no leaving this station without the senators. I've long made peace with that."

"If the guards have not returned, there must be another security incident under way. It is not standard procedure to leave the detention area unmanned."

She extends a trembling hand towards your holographic map.

"Max Confinement is here. Alpha confinement is here. Max Confinement is staffed by the Imperial Guard, and reserved for prisoners that merit the personal attention of the Emperor himself - your senators will be there. Alpha Confinement is where all former Jedi prisoners end up eventually, though most pass through Max Confinement first. If your Jedi friends are not in Max Confinement, they will be in Alpha."

[OOC: Max Confinement is in an open area within the expanse of the throne room. Alpha confinement is off the throne room down a special cell bay.]

"Max Confinement as manned by Imperial Guards, usually one per prisoner in an open area with deck-mounted energy detention cells. Alpha confinement is normally not manned directly, because life support is kept to a bare minimum. If they are actively 'processing' a prisoner, there will be half a dozen technicians supported by imperial guard and shadow troopers."

Her lips and jaw still tremble when she speaks, but her voice is getting stronger.

"Do you think you can actually do this?"

The woman unholstered her pistols and hilt-first offered the girl a choice of standard with scope or a heavy. ?Unless you?re a dual-wielding maverick, I?ll need one for the same reason.?

?So, I?ve been using my cloaked droid to get us in where we?re not supposed to, remoting in as necessary. You and I can stay here in the comfort of your cell while I use him or we can try and sneak in with Nightshade. Or something entirely different if you?ve any other ideas. I'm guessing Alpha will be easier of the holds to get into. I did overhear the leader order them to take our Jedi to that place.?

Post by: GM Craig on March 06, 2016, 02:59:53 PM
She takes the standard pistol with the scope with a nod. Nim notices her knuckles are white as she holds the grip.

"If I were stealthy, I wouldn't have been in here in the first place. And your plan sounds good - Alpha containment is meant to prevent escapes, not entry. With some allies, maybe your friend can handle the guards in max containment."
Title: Re: Thrown Together

Nim lightly placed a finger on the barrel and looked back up to the girl?s eyes.

?It?s not just so you can off yourself. That?s a full pack. Be sure some rounds go to the d-bags that did this to you, yeah??

She placed the other pistol back in its holster and called out to the Nekami again. ?I don?t know if you caught all of that, but there?s a slight change in plans.?

(If he didn?t she?ll just repeat it.)

The Shinobi looked at her strangely for a minute as though trying to gauge her intentions.  Bowing to her he replied, "My thanks but keep it, we should all be at our best for this next step."

With that said, and ensuring that all was in readiness, Nightshade stalked off towards the Alpha containment area.

Nim nodded. ?If something happens to us back here, use Buzz as needed but return him to Trax.. if you can. He?s a wonderful tool and has a lot of sentimental value to him for the both of us.?

With that she started prepping the little Droid to follow the Nekami.
Title: Re: Thrown Together

Nightshade really does move like a shadow, and within a few paces, he is out of sight.

Using her wrist computer, Nim directs Buzz to follow, but she has a hard time keeping track of Nigthshade, and in short order, she's lost him. Sticking with the plan, Nim sends Buzz on towards Alpha containment.

The throne room is a large cavernous open space, but at 12 locations around the perimeter there are exits from the room. Buzz detects patrols moving around, and guard posts, but nothing in the immediate vicinity. Buzz easily dodges the few patrols. Alarms continue to sound. Several times, Buzz has to lay low as a platoon of royal guards comes running past. It seems Galen is still very much active on the station, and it causing trouble for the Imperials.

Eventually, Buzz reaches the entrance to Alpha containment. There is a simply access panel there - it should be easy to slice it. However, there are two royal guards stationed beside the doors.
