She bows again, arms at an angle from her body, palms towards you, and withdraws, closing the door behind her.
When you turn to the room, one of the female servants is bowing before you, palms pressed together before her chest. She stays in the bow as she speaks.
"Honoured Guest, I am Basima. We are pleased to serve you." She rises and lowers her hands to clasp them before her waist. "Would you care for a bath and refreshment?"
Take the bath. Trust me, coming from someone who's been a guest of Cali, you want to take the bath. ;)

The missions that I missed . . . :P

Hot damn, I think we're in the wrong palace right now :P

Sure as hell beats our extreme sky-diving getaway vacation. ;D

As welcoming as Cali's house can be when he wants something from you, there is often a cost to interactions with Cali. I wouldn't want people to be misled. He employs assassins. He has no compunction about ordering people killed. He may seem friendly to the rebels, but he also planted spies within their organization, and even suborned Mariah to as in that capacity on his behalf, potentially getting her in lots of trouble.
So, when he is courting you - as he was Trax - he can be very welcoming. But he is also someone who can, through his people, wield a knife in the dark.
No one has really probed his motives or morals much, so keep that in mind. Cali has an agenda that you haven't probed yet. He may not be all he appears to be. Or, perhaps worse, it may be he is exactly what he appears to be - the powerful leader of an extensive criminal syndicate.

Strangely enough (or maybe not), that's what Trax is hoping for assuming he gets the chance, and is successful, in a certain endeavor. :)

He didn't take the bath...
-
I'm sure it would have been a nice bath and all, but just not my style.
-
You're the first character to not take the bath, actually. :)
-

If your PC is alive, the bath is your style. :)
-
Would like to get a reply up today, but at work...if anyone has the time to remind me if Trax gave me anything for Cali or words to say I would appreciate the help, otherwise will try to self through posts here in a couple hours.
-
Trax didn't give Nightshade anything specific to say to Cali, mostly because I didn't think of it.
If Trax asked Nightshade to say anything it would be something along the lines of he is currently taking on the Empire on a larger scale but hopes to return to Karvis at the earliest opportunity.
Something that we seem to have lost track of is Mariah's body.
If it makes it easier at this point to say it's still on Alderaan I'm fine with that. Trax will find a way to make other arrangements to get her back to Karvis. If that is the case, Trax would have asked Nightshade to tell Cali about her and that she died during a battle against the Empire.
-
It was my intention that her body was left at the 'sanitation' area starting point to await the outcome of the meeting with Cali.
Wasn't clear if you intended it to be left with him or returned to the rebels.
-
Thank makes sense.
Trax's request would have been that it made it's way to the rebels.
-
Regarding Mariah's remains:

-
Yeah, I just meant in regards to what happened to her after arriving on Karvis.
-
Ah! Serves me right for not reading the post properly. :P
-
I probably should have clarified.
-
Very nicely worded Ben. 8)
-
Aww, shucks. Thanks. :)
-
That is one detailed dossier.
-
Aye it is, and I like it.
How much time do I have from arrival til when the party starts?
-
less than 30 min
-
Couple questions to be sure I understand the layout properly...
1. Do I have a clear line of fire to the snipers from my current position?
2. If so, are they covered by the droids, meaning if I take them out will the droids see it?
3. Could I get the vehicles to crash into the area where the troops are or are there too many walls/structure to make that viable. They could make a nice distraction that doesn't risk rebels getting shot at.
-
1. No, they are below you. You are still on the stairwell. You can see them through the grating floor, but don't have a clear shot.
2. The pair of droids are only covering the lower stairwell. Depending on how you get off the stairwell, they shouldn't see you taking out the snipers.
3. There's debris and machinery in the way, but it's possible to get the escape vehicles to overrun two of the trooper positions. The other two are behind structural supports, and the techs are in the back corner.
-
Are the pairs close enough together that I might be able to drop from above and reach both with a melee attack in the same round?
-
Possible. You'll likely be able to kill two, but odds are against you that you won't be spotted doing it.
-
With the snipers down maybe take out the techs and monitor the rebels escape. That way you can launch your attack just before they get there. You might even be able to use the surveillance drones to try to contact the rebels.
-
That is a good idea, Ken. I will try that.
-
Do you have any grenades?
If you can at least disorient as many of the troopers as possible it'll buy the rebels a few valuable seconds. Or, assuming they all have their comms on and open, would there be a way to send feedback or anything through their comms?
-
Could I get a simple map to help me visualize the layout of the rest of the troopers please?
-
OK, I'll see what I can put together.
-
Thank you for the map. Just checking something...the opening description post lists four pairs of troopers and the map is only showing three...is there another pair off somewhere?
-
My bad. The centre (bottom) barricade has two pairs, one either end.
-
While Nightsahde is planning tactics, a light starts flashing on what appears to be a communications console. The light is accompanied by an audible alert.
*beep beep*
*beep beep*
Nightshade pushes the button to answer the comm.
"Hello?"
"Why haven't you called! Do you have any idea what I had to go through to get this number?!" screamed the voice.
"Uh, Mom...not a good time..."
:P
-
*snort*
-
Wondering if I could use the call to lure over a couple of the troopers when the techs don't answer it...them being busy playing dead and all.
How close do I estimate they could get to the barricade before they see me and/or the bodies?
-
Pretty close, if you're ducking down and stealthy.
There's another factor - this call could be related to the attack. If there is no answer, there may be an investigation. By now the stormtroopers are either standing by or about to attack.
-
Yeah I actually had that in my reply I was about to post before I got this new idea...
-
Does Nightshade still have 2 troopers withing melee range?
I'm just wondering if he could duck behind cover and look to take out any sources of light to help give him more of an edge.
-
He's got no one in melee range.
-
Just so I don't assume anything here...
1. How tall are the barricades? I was envisioning them about waist to chest high.
2. I count 1 FP remaining for me, do you concur?
-
Another good question might be what's the lighting situation like? Maybe Nightshade could pull a batman and disappear into the space above and drop down in a better spot?
-
The barricades are waist high.
You have 2 FP left by my count.
-
I have one more crazy trick up my sleeve then I'll try to vanish.
-
You're gonna turn into a nine-tailed demon fox? ;D
-
That would have been useful. >:D
Is the flooring solid or see through? Just wondering how much cover I have and how easily I can move to another location unseen.
-
See through, but it gives some screening. You're dodging at +1D due to partial cover, and +1D for partial protection.
-
The rebels do not even move.
One of them says, in an incredulous voice, "What are you?"
Nightshade replies by turning his voice deep and gravelly, "I'm Batman."
-
+1
-
Or . . . "I'm the best at what I do, bub, and what I do ain't pretty."
-
"Kicking ass is my business...and business is good." 8) >:D
-
The 'Nightshade has to be drugged', for some reason reminded me of a scene from Get Smart where Max and 99 are in the hotel room after blowing up the bakery/Chaos headquarters and Max is on 99's phone. Paraphrased quote...
"Knock out gas, really? I've trained my body to be impervious to...that's new stuff." :)
-
Did we ever establish to protocol for contacting the clan? Is it something that could be done instantly or would it require time to get an answer?
-
It would take time, due to security reasons. Few days, maybe a week. There are also cross-check protocols so you know any reply is legitimate.
-
It would be highly irregular for a warrior to contact the clan mid-mission. As an agent in the field, you would normally be expected to resolve any conflicts yourself to the best of your ability, and face any consequences when you returned. If you choose to resolve the conflict by accepting the Senator, that is your decision and you may face consequences for that later.
Further to your post, it does not matter if the princess knows about the contract or not. The contract exists between the clan and the royal family, so it is your duty to carry out the contract to the best of your ability. When the contract was made, the royal family bought your life. It is only returned to you when the contract is fulfilled. Until then, your life belongs to them.
That's the traditional view - Nightshade may have other views based on personal philosophy and / or his experiences since leaving the clan.
-
Modified my post.
-
Vision post...chills, man, chills.
Well done.
-
I was worried I overdid it.
Mind you, Nightshade always struck me as a spiritual man.
-
How about attacking the patrol but letting them escape.
If you could set up a road block, have the rebels in military uniforms attack while you sneak over to the vehicle and plant an explosive charge. Then, once the vehicle gets back to the base, detonate it.
-
That's not a bad idea, either.
-
Heh, you want bold? Steal a tie bomber and bomb the base. :)
-
Might be too easy to write off as a rogue pilot. :)
Now, if a squadron were to do it...
-
I don't think the KDF has enough pilots to fly a squadron.
-
But this is Nightshade...

"Excellent...start with this. Let us also create a sash that will be used as an identifying mark that we can wear on our attacks or leave behind as evidence of our presence.
Now where and when will be the closest patrol we can attack? And what will it likely consist of...just troops or vehicle support also?"
Ben, just something to think about. Any physical evidence found on site is likely to go through a dna sniffer/analyzer so be careful who touches what.
-
Ben, are you going to need a map?
-
Let's try without for now, amd see if we can make your life easier. ;D
-
That clearly catches her off guard, as if that was the least likely thing she had expected you to say.
"You're serious..."
She stands up from the wall, her eyes wide. But she nods. "Okay... okay." She runs her hand through her hair. "I've got some work to do." She turns to go, but stops. "Thanks, Agent."
Which makes me wonder how Command will react to hearing that. :)

Sometimes ya gotta shake up the status quo.
