Hehe, there's some truth here.
-
More than just 'some'. :)
-
Well, some. In my experience there is much more of a progression from Level 1 to Sysadmin. L3 tech support is often a lot more grumbly, in a "I guess I better save this looser from himself" sort of way.
-
So where does that put those of us who fix our own IT problems in a way that annoys the sysadmin? :-D
-
I'd say that puts you in the majority. ;D
-
But it's fun!

Fun is subjective, https://www.schlockmercenary.com/2003-04-07

Usually, the "We fix out own problems" crowd actually makes things worse when they finally give up and call us, but pretend like they did nothing.
I've had the conversation more than once when the user denies doing anything, "Ok. If you say you didn't change this config, that means I am going to have to quarantine your machine to investigate why it did change. And I *am* going to find out exactly why it changed and who changed it, but when I do it will be four hours from now and I will be a lot less personable, and it will involve a note to your manager about wasting IT resources. Or, if you made the change, you can come clean now. I will shrug, grumble a little, and fix it in 20 minutes, including fixing the original problem you tried to fix yourself, and we can both get on with our day with no repercussions to anyone."

Oh I have no problem telling him what I changed. I like watching his face. Lol. In fairness I only mess with things I KNOW how to fix.
-
Wow . . . you guys can actually get a hold of your I.T. departments?
-
Well, yeah. Keli doesn't have a restraining order...
-
Well-played, sir. +1 to Craig . . .

Was gonna say...kinda feel like that should have had a "mic drop" at the end...
