Collan, Nightshade, Nill, Nim, Trax: Raid on Horuz

[Keshani]

One minute she was moving, adrenaline pulsing through her body, fully intending to kill/capture the jedi to turn over to the Stormtroopers who would soon be there.

The next thing she knew a blaster went off and she was left holding onto the useless ends of a now limp cable.

Frell....., she cursed to herself. Now what?

She glanced back, fear registering in her eyes at the man that was holding the blaster. Were they ALL under the control of this Jedi?

And then just as she started to turn her attention, looking between the man and the Jedi, two of the wookies charged up obviously intending to protect her.

Her heart kind of twinged at that. She had put them in enough danger already..

And THEN, before she even had time to think, the Jedi called out that the Stormtroopers were here.

Frell Frell Frell.....

And suddenly all instincts in her body turned toward self-preservation. Looking around wildly at the room she saw a blaster still in the limp hands of the Overseer that had gone down to start this whole thing. He wasn't that far...she could make it....

At least then she'd have something other than a piece of now severed cable to defend herself with...

Eyes still wide and adrenaline still pulsing through her body she switched direction and made for the pistol, aiming to grab it and then find SOMETHING to use as cover...

She wasn't sure yet WHAT she was going to shoot at - she just wanted something to shoot WITH.

<Actions: double move to get to overseer then find coverage if possible>

[Nim Naja]

Nim nearly jumped out of her skin and her ears rang for quite a bit after her own blaster went off next to her.

And that's how you get tinnitus.

She spun around to see what the kark Trax had shot at. Her eyes did a double take on the girl, then the cable, then the sudden roar of a Wookiee..

Nim didn't have to understand their language to know what both had said (even though she did) - it clearly wasn't anything pleasant. She turned to the one charging them (or just trax).

?He's right, and he never would have missed if it was his intention. ...please don't rip his arms off.?

Ooc: um, persuasion? xD

[Niil Spaar]

Niil's head whipped around at the sound of Trax's blaster firing.  What the hell? From what he saw, Trax had taken a shot at a woman holding some sort of power cable.  No, wait . . . it looks like he shot the power cable she was holding.  Oh, drek.  Looks like the wookiees didn't like that one bit.

Before he could say anything, the blast doors to the right started to open.  And there were a lot of white-armored feet there . . . Close enough for the pistols!  Niil dropped his rifle and drew his heavy blaster pistol.  He fired at the nearest trooper as soon as he filled his sights, but took the time to yell out to the wookiees, "Focus on the stormtroopers, damnit!  They're the enemy here, not us!"

OOC:  If I can get my heavy blaster pistol into play this round, take a shot at the closest left-side trooper.

[Nightshade]

The tableau had changed dramatically by the time the Shinobi reached the bottom of the lift.  Activating the suit as soon as he opened the door he stood by to see which threat would be the more immediate...the Wookies or the troopers.

Actions: going ghost, reac attack to defend Niil or Ch'lana, reac dodge

When the blast door opens, Ch'lana is standing front and centre, his lightsabre lit and at the ready. Every trooper in the corridor is acutely aware of him, and they all raise their weapons to fire at him.

Nim holds up her hands and screams "Hey! Hey!" at the charging Wookie, trying to get his attention. The wookie brings himself up short, and he looks at her. "He's right, and he never would have missed if it was his intention. ...please don't rip his arms off."

The slave [Keshani] screams and breaks into a run away from everyone and the action. She drops to the deck and skids into a body on the deck there and starts fumbling with something.

One of the troopers in the back row takes several steps to the left, getting clean lines of fire to the upper half of the room. A trooper in the middle of the pack does the same, dropping into a crouch so those behind him can get clear shots.

Then Niil fires his hand-cannon, but he seems distracted and the shot flies over the trooper's head. [Abysmal roll dude. You got 10.] Collan also squeezes off a shot, winging the trooper. He crouches down, momentarily overcome by the pain.

Another of the troopers in the back moves to get a clear shot.

Then Ch'lana runs forward a few steps and stabs the trooper on the right. He stands for a moment, suspended on the lightsabre, before Ch'lana yanks it out and he trooper collapses.

One of the troopers fires off a shot, but Ch'lana brings up his sabre and deflects the shot back at the trooper. It hits him square, and the trooper is momentarily overcome by the pain.

Another trooper in the back moves for a clear shot.

Then a wookie on the right opens fire, and hits a trooper, but the armour completely absorbs the hit.

At this point, the lift opens again, but there is no one there.

Another trooper opens fire on Ch'lana, but misses.

A wookie on the left flank fires, and injures one of the troopers.

One of the techs, burdened by a co-worker, crouches and runs towards the landing bay blast doors, looking anxiously for cover.

Two more stormtroopers move for clear shots.

One of the troopers in the front reverses his rifle and tries to slam the butt into Ch'lana. The Jedi catches the strike on his sabre, and half the rifle falls to the deck, the cut lines from the sabre still glowing and smoking. Another trooper fires, but misses.

The other tech, likewise carrying a co-worker, follows his companion towards the docking bay, ducking and trying to reach cover.

The wookie that was following Keshani continues to move towards her, and the escaped slave feels the large presence of the wookie over her, blaster ready and covering her from any threats.

The wookie that Nim managed to bring up short scowls at Trax and growls and roars something in their tongue at him. He appears to have relented, but he still glares at Trax with a mix of hostility and suspicion.

Another wookie fires, hitting a trooper and wounding him. Another wookie fires and hits, but the trooper armour absorbs the damage.

Eight troopers open fire on Ch'lana. The Jedi moves faster than the eye can see, catching some bolts on his sabre, dodging others. One of the bolts hits him square in the chest, but Ch'lana seems to take the damage and keep going.

Then, Keshani raises a shaky hand from the Overseer's body, and those paying attention can see she is holding a blaster pistol.

Niil could almost hear the Dark Side chortling at him for his horrible shot, but he managed to push aside that distraction.  Switching aim to a pair of troopers firing on Ch'lana, he squeezed off two shots in rapid succession.

OOC:  One shot at Trooper # 7 and one shot at Trooper # 10

Shot count:  Blaster rifle (2), left heavy blaster pistol (1), right heavy blaster pistol (4)

[Keshani]

Different pieces of seemingly conflicting information were clattering around in her head as the teenage slave girl slid across the floor, desperate to grab the one thing left that she could use to protect herself.

Grabbing onto the blaster after some fumbling around (she was, afterall, starving, exhausted, and hopped up on adrenaline and her body was NOT exactly cooperating), Keshani looked around for something to hide behind to provide some cover.

As she did so, the conflicting thoughts in her head were setting off all sorts of alarms inside of her head:

1) Was the knowledge that she had been told all of her life that Jedi were evil and not to be trusted.

2) (In conflict with this first thought) Was that this Jedi was fighting against the stormtroopers, working very hard to draw their full attention away from the others in the group. How "untrustworthy" was that? Did he have some ulterior motive here?

3) Although the Man who had shot at her DID prevent her from trying to kill the Jedi, he looked like he was probably a pretty experienced shot, judging from how he held the weapon. People who were experienced didn't miss that badly so she assumed he hadn't actually been aiming at her. And there was the stuff the Lady yelled to agree with that...and the fact that the Wookie that had charged the Man was not now ripping his arms off or any other part of his body....

4) Was the fact that ALL of these people, although she still had no idea who they were, were fighting AGAINST the stormtroopers. Which presumably meant that they didn't like the Imperials. If they were slavers trying to steal the slaves from the deathstar they would have probably just snatched up the wookies and herself while they had the chance instead of staying to fight the Stormtroopers.

So what were they here for and who were they?

In confusion she shook her head trying to clear it.

Did it really matter right now?, she asked herself. Right now there were a whole bunch of stormtroopers trying to kill them all (herself included).

With a quick exhale of air she ducked behind whatever she could, and checking to make sure the blaster pistol was actually safe to fire (IE not going to blow up if she fires it or anything else), she took aim on any stormtrooper in range and fired a quick shot.

With all the knowledge I have of this station, she thought to herself, I wish there was SOMETHING I could use to protect us from these stormies....

<Actions: Find cover if possible and shoot at closest stormtrooper (if any are in range of a blaster pistol. Use Death Star Layout knowledge to try to think of anything that will help to make the stormies stop firing at the group - ie - any barriers like blast doors that can be shut separating them or anything?>

[Collan]

Collan saw out of the corner of his eye that the girl had picked up a blaster. She looked incredibly shakey and barely in control of her faculties. That was all too familiar. He could still feel the screech of his own panic and fear...memories heightened now because of the combat and the Dark Side nibbling at his mind.

Calm. Peace. Concentrate on the task at hand.

"Nim! Help the kid if you can get to her!" He called aloud and into the comlink, "She's a slave and going to be in a bad place right now. Confused. Scared. She needs someone to guide her."

And then Collan lined up another shot. His initial target was the original buckethead he'd tagged, but he was willing to give it a half second to adjust enough for a miss to also hit a different one (and not his fellow Rebels).

Calm. He took in a breath. The Dark Side buzzed. Half breath released.

Fire.

[one shot at stormie2. Hope it hits him or another stormie]

[Trax]

Trax's head went back and forth between Nim and the wookie.

"Rip my arms off?!" he focused his attention on the wookie.

"You can be pissed at me all you want, if she'd have gotten close enough to use that power cable she would have ended up being in the middle of a fire fight." the man almost growled back.

"Now how about you really do something to help her and make sure those techs don't decide to shoot us in the back.  There's still a few rifles laying around in the bay." The rebel motioned towards the techs trying to make it past them and into the docking bay.  It was true that they were carrying other techs, but once they decided to drop the bodies, there were still a few rifles laying around in the bay from fallen troopers.

Trax whipped his head around to look at Nim.  "And you stay here." he said before he managed to calm his tone, and he regretted it the moment he realized it.  His body almost seemed to shrink and he lowered his head as he turned around and headed for doors.

[OOC: Double move towards the door.]

Edited: Apparently I missed/forgot that the techs were no longer armed.

[Nightshade]

Satisfied that the troopers posed the larger threat, Nightshade slunk along the wall from the lift to line up a clear view at a trooper.  Launching one of the electro-stars, he rolled to his right afterwards to present less of a target to return fire.

Actions: sneak, throw star, reac dodge

[Nim Naja]

A string of Mando curses spat from her mouth to Trax?s back. ?That's right, you keep walkin?!?

It was twofold though, also flung at the techs as they passed by. ?Away from my terminal. Yes, MY terminal. After this you're going to request front line infantry because the fact that it took four of you to remotely kark with me is pathetic. Now go do something useful and play in a space lane or something.?

If the wookiee does help watch them she'll get comfortable in whatever position helps with stabilization while still allowing full sight of the action. If he doesn't she'll have to take up that boring duty.

Ooc: taking a round to prep the rifle, glare at Trax and the techs.

[Nim Naja]

"Nim! Help the kid if you can get to her!" He called aloud and into the comlink, "She's a slave and going to be in a bad place right now. Confused. Scared. She needs someone to guide her."

"I would but Asshat kind of dumped me here at the door. There's a furball protecting her at least."

Nim takes a breath and lines up a shot, but takes time to aim carefully.

Those of you watching the Jedi notice a change in Ch'lana's posture, the placement of his feet, and the way he holds his sabre. He half closes his eyes, sabre at the ready. It's obvious he's gone full defensive. [OOC: Those with knowledge of Lightsabre forms would recognize Form III - Soresu].

One of the troopers fires at point blank range, and Ch'lana catches the shot on his sabre, deflecting it high.

From out of nowhere, a small projectile appears embedded in the helmet of one of the troopers. He jerks and spasms for a moment as lightning dances over his helmet, and drops to one knee for a moment, temporarily overcome.

Another trooper fires, and again Ch'lana takes the shot on his sabre. A third fires, and it is deflected. Another trooper fires, and this is deflected as well.

Niil fires both hand cannons, hitting two troopers hard enough to wound.

Then Ch'lana takes another blaster shot. This time, it manages to get past the whirling lightsabre, and hits the Jedi in the shoulder. You can all see the smoking hole in his tunic, but the Jedi shrugs it off as if it was nothing.

Collan fires and scores a hit, but the trooper armour absorbs the blast.

Another trooper fires on Ch'lana's back, but somehow the sabre is there to deflect the shot, and it hits the ceiling.

The wookie closest to Keshani sets aside his blaster rifle and offers his great paws, gesturing to Keshani's collar. The girl is unsure, but relents. Furry fingers slip between the collar and her skin. With a quick wrench, the collar snaps. Pain explodes behind Keshani's eyes, but it is only momentary - a brief, intense flash, then the needles in her skin are gone, and she is free for the first time in weeks.

The wookie, however, has a grip on both halves of the collar as it discharges. Muscles clamp down of their own accord, so the wookie cannot even let go of the blasted thing. He collapses to his knees while the collar pieces continue to discharge, helpless until the power cell runs out.

Another trooper fires, and the shot is caught on the blade. Ch'lana whirls and slashes the blade around almost too fats for the eye to follow. It is like he knows where each shot will be before they are even fired.

A wookie on the right fires at the trooper with a projectile lodged in his helmet and hits. The trooper goes down, hard. He won't be getting back up without medical attention.

One of the techs skips 'round the corner and into the docking bay, clearly fleeing for his life and taking his unconscious companion with him.

The other wookie by Kechani kneels down and places a gentle hand on her shoulder, speaking to her. [She can't make out most of it, but he seems to be asking if she is OK.]

Keshani is running through what she knows of the area, and her eyes light up. There's an unshielded power conduit running through the ceiling over the troopers. If the regulator were taken out, a well-placed shot might cause the conduit to overload. It would be way too difficult from here. She's never had much use for blasters - she has natural dexterity of course, but never spent much time learning to shoot. Still, she might make the shot if she were closer. Or, maybe one of these newcomers could do it? Or one of the wookies maybe?

[The regulator is behind an access panel in the ceiling to the left. Blow that, and a second shot at the conduit itself should cause an overload and fry anything in the corridor. There's enough power in the conduit to kill.]

Three more wookies fire, and two of them hit. One of the troopers goes down hard. Another is stunned by a grazing blow.

The last tech makes it 'round the corner carrying a co-worker, and the last two troopers fire at Ch'lana. The Jedi deflects both their shots.

For anyone able to see the Jedi, it's pretty clear he's being pushed to his limits. He is completely defensive and holding his own, but he has nothing
left for offence.

Niil paled as he recognized the lightsaber form that Ch'lana shifted to.  He's in big trouble here.  He's already taken two solid hits.  This needs to end now, before any more of us get hurt.

Letting out his breath quietly, Niil closed his eyes briefly and opened himself up to the Force.  When his eyes snapped open, both of his heavy blaster pistols spat out a volley of plasma bolts, seemingly guided of their own volition.


OOC:  Using my Force point, and taking a shot at each of the following troopers: # 1, # 5, # 7, # 8, # 9, #10, # 11 and # 12.
