"Not sure our new friends will be that thankful.

Here's my one and only condition and it's not negotiable.  Where you go, I go.

If they're going to send you into the depths of an imperial stronghold to steal information, I'm going. If they send you all the way across the galaxy for a meeting, they better make travel arrangements for two and set up an extra seat in the room. And if they're going to make you attend more of these fancy dinner parties they better have a suit in my size."

She grew silent and looked at her palms for a long moment.

"Joe Hutt won't be able to just join in on anything. There's a very real threat of imperial spies, and in Intel everyone is suspect. You saw how Rand and I reacted when we met. One half second look and suddenly we both assumed the worst and never let our guard down until one of us was taken down."

She looked back up. "We are praised today here but out there we are nobodies. I made a pledge. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things, but it's all they've got. I imagine you'd have to do something similar. I don't think we'd pass that checkpoint with you as my bodyguard this time."

Although she feared a rebuke she tried to smile a little at the reference.

"I've already risked my life twice, lost an arm, and lost Mariah to help them and by extension their cause. If that's not enough I'll make a pledge but it will be my pledge, not theirs."

Nim took his hands in hers and nodded with a smile. "Bem was sorta right. I'm not only in over my head, but head over heels. Don't think he predicted that one."

Trax gave Nim an, are you for real, look.

"Here I thought we were having a moment and you have to bring up someone that smells like they regularly shower in a refuse bin?

Way to kill the mood." He finished with a crooked smile.

"Oh, ew," she replied, wrinkling her nose. "Totally my bad."

She relaxed into the cushions and looked around the opulent guest suite and tapped his hand in hers as if procrastinating something.

Nim sighed and finally looked back to him.

" You know the hesitation of doing the whole regen thing isn't about them playing with my noggin', right?"

Trax got up and sat on the love seat beside Nim.  In all honesty he wasn't entirely sure the real reason behind her hesitation but he knew it had something to do with Allie.

"Yeah, I know.  I'm the only one allowed to mess with that pretty little head." he quipped before turning serious.

"I know it's got something to do with Allie, but how exactly I'm a little fuzzy on." His tone and facial expression clearly stated that he'd like to know if she was willing to tell him.

She nodded. "It's the glitterstim. Doing this means there's no going back. I can't just take it again, nevermind the withdrawals, I can't abuse the generosity of these people. Using would make this pointless."

Why would you... Trax caught himself mid thought.  He'd never indulged in any narcotics but the circles he travelled in were full of them.  And glitterstim, as he was told, allowed one to see things, people who had passed.  To someone like Nim it was probably like Alexa was never truly gone, but now she would be.

"I never thought of it like that, what it meant for you, what you would be giving up."

He wrapped his arm around her and pulled the woman tightly against him.

"If you're not ready then don't. I don't want to see you go through with this only to be filled with regret after."

Nim snuggled against his chest, the borrowed scents from the guest bathroom wafting up to her nose. They were handsome scents to be sure. Trax wore them very well. The hunter wore the suit well too.

"I would regret losing you due to a cause you don't believe in."

Trax was quiet for nearly a minute.  It wasn't that he didn't believe in the cause, or any cause, he just didn't believe in swearing himself to a cause.  He'd never cared for the Empire and he avoided any dealings with them as long as he could.  He wasn't sure what tempted him enough that he took that Imperial contract from the Admiral, but that decision had a very profound effect on everything that happened to him after.  And it would probably continue to have an effect until he died.

"It's not that I don't believe in what they want to do, I just don't believe in swearing myself to them.  I'm more than happy to wipe every stormtrooper out of the galaxy if I can, and I won't shed any tears if those damned jedi are wiped out too, but I won't swear to put everything and everyone else second.  If we're ever in a position where the success of the mission means you're going to die, the mission will fail."

Nim was quiet for a while too.

"I've been considering doing something a bit edgy to help with mission success."

She smirked a little and thumbed the comm to the Major, inviting him back. "I think I'm convinced."

Trax let out a small groan, unsure of how he should feel about this something edgy surprise.

Major Antilles responds. "Convinced about what? Should I come to your quarters to discuss it?"

Nim stared at the comm. "Oh, uhh.." Oops. "Sure, come on by."
