Atrivis Sector
« on: November 21, 2016, 01:24:29 PM »
Ok, did Nim have a specific destination in mind? Fest or Mantooine?

You'll be travelling via tramp freighter, but easier if the pilot knows where they are going before they leave.

Can we checkout the dossiers first by chance? Might help determine which planet first.

Could I get clarification on what exactly the Alliance is requiring? I assume a planet needs to sign up in order to gain further help beyond the shield. But do they need to both agree to work together beyond signing up? If one signs up will it get resources if the other doesn't?

Dossier: Fest
« Reply #3 on: November 28, 2016, 01:14:31 PM »
Fest is a heavily populated ice world with few wilderness regions - limited exclusively to rugged mountain ranges and deep glacier-filled valleys.

In the years after the Clone Wars, Fest became embroiled in an internal civil war, while simultaneously engaged with a war with Mantooine. The results of that conflict have left Fest ravaged, with the bulk of the population struggling daily for survival.

Independent-minded, the planetary population is home to several rebel groups. Due to the scars of the civil war, the rebel groups are not cooperating. Despite this, the groups have independently thrown the Empire out of the major population centres. The Imperial forces left on the planet are under siege inside fortified bases, and do not venture out. Air and aerospace power of the Empire has been completely neutralized, and Imperial forces in orbit (three bulk cruisers) have been destroyed by a rag-tag fleet of small ships.

The primary faction on Fest is led by Enric Meday, a former member of the local constabulary. He fought in the civil war, and in the war with Mantooine. His rebel group is the largest on Fest, and holds the government capital, with the exception of a fortified Imperial base. His troops walk openly in the streets. He has a small council of senior lieutenants. Valara Streng [female] handles his intelligence duties, and appears to be closest to him. Sayl Murray [M] leads one group of his military forces, and is a veteran of the civil war and the war with Mantooine. Alys Madine [F] leads the other military arm. She is also a veteran of both wars, and it was her victory that claimed the capitol for the group. Raddi Dulius (unknown gender) shepherds their civilian resources, including fundraising, feeding and equipping the military. His subordinates are mostly scroungers and salvagers, but his work allowed the victory in the capitol.

That's the extent of our knowledge, and we have no details on any of the other regional groups, other than they are loosely based on factions that fought during the civil war.

They liberated several Imperial supply caches, which has eased the burden on civilians, and better equipped their troops, but their supplies won't last more than three months.

Dossier: Mantooine
« Reply #4 on: November 28, 2016, 01:25:12 PM »
The resistance on Mantooine is more stable, with a central structure and planetary-scale coordination. The rebel group, the Mantooine Liberators, have kicked the Empire off the planet, including capturing several Imperial fortifications. They are having difficulty transitioning from a rebel group to a provisional government, and that stress is causing regional tensions and internal bickering. The Mantooine Liberators are led by Aari Nivix [F], a former civil servant in the senatorial staff. She is a competent diplomat, but is having trouble reigning in the more militant elements of the Liberators. Many of her forces are celebrating as if they have won and the fighting is over. She seems to understand the precarious position they are in, but she appears to be having trouble convincing other leaders of the Liberators that the fighting is not over. Her deputy is Cero van Meer [M], a military veteran of the Fest war. There is a broad second tier of leadership, with half a dozen regional leaders. They are still consolidating their position, but there have already been reports of scattered anti-collaborator violence, which would distract them from the impending Imperial attack.

Our analysis suggests that the Mantooine Liberators pose the larger threat to the Empire, and will likely be the first target of a retaliatory strike.

They want to bring them into the fold, at a minimum. That means accepting Rebel Alliance command authority and priorities, as well as Alliance aid and resources. This is bigger than any one system - if rebels are going to win, they all need to work together. If you can get them to cooperate with each other, and unite that sector, that would be gravy.

Is there one that's closer/quicker for us to get to and how long does it take to travel from one to the other?

Doesn't matter from a time-to-arrival point of view. However, Fest is in more dire need of support than Mantooine. The climate on Mantooine is much more temperate. Given the ravages of war and the overall climate, the populace on Fest is a lot closer to the edge, survival-wise. They're also in the weakest position, as the rebel groups there are somewhat balkanized. They're not openly hostile, but they are certainly not co-operating. On Mantooine, the climate is more forgiving, and the rebels are much more united and organized.

Kind of a judgement call. You would likely have an easier time on Mantooine. But you could see the greatest gains on Fest. But both planets are at risk.

Is there any information as to why the planets were at war with each other?

There have been generations of hostility, and frequent open conflicts between them. You don't have any details on what started it all - that would go back a hundred years. Their animosity has been going on a long time. The latest outbreak of hostilities was triggered when Mantooine impounded the ship of a Fest trader, but that was just a spark that set off a powder keg. Fest got the short end of the last conflict, but other open conflicts, Fest had the upper hand. Peace-keeping forces and Jedi have been to both planets many times in the past under the Old Republic. The Empire let the last conflict go on a long time, until their forces became endangered, then they put a stop to the fighting very quickly.

I need to expand on the gear list to include Maris' needs for the trip. I don't know if she would be included in the bonuses that we received at Alderaan though, that's separate. I'd lobby for it though, within reason. She'll be my "asset" like Trax.
