"Four hours, maybe?  Yeah, best guess."  He looked around.  "I wonder what kind of nocturnal life is on this rock?"

"Four hours...I can work with that," Collan motion for Niil to follow him into the tent, "Let's see what I can sense about this place."

Collan placed himself into a comfortable meditative position.

"This may take a while," he noted and thenclosed his eyes to begin.

[ooc Can I use Comtratiom on Sense to make this easier?]

Collan opened his eyes and then shook himself as if it he were covered in chill waters. The Dark Side...everywhere.

"The Dark Side is everywhere here Niil," Collan said, "It feels...old. How old I can't tell. It could 20, 30, 40, or 4000 years. It's diffuse and covers everything like an oil slick. But it's the same feeling all around. We're going to have to be very careful. We've got three hours. It's probably worth it to make a foray to the ruins."

Niil nodded grimly.  "Let's get kitted out, then.  Damn it all, I don't like the idea of traipsing around a potentially hostile planet unarmed, but Kota left the impression that blasters make the locals see red."

OOC:  Craig, could I tuck my blaster pistol inside one of those smaller equipment crates?  I have a feeling that we'll be taking some equipment with us to the ruins anyway.

Collan slung a rig that held this saberstaff inside his envirosuit on. And he hooked the lightsaber on it.

"We're not entirely defenseless," Collan said pointing to the saberstaff, "Hopefully we don't need to use it."

[OOC: You guys grabbed your personal kit, so you'd have any personal weapons there. That's off the ship with you. Up to you if you take it with you or not.]

You put together a couple of day packs and some tools, and head off up the slope towards the nearest ruins.

You are about 5 minutes up the mountains when you hear the alarming hum of repulsors far behind you. Turning around, you are just in time to see the shuttle you arrived in pop up over the ridge, engage thrusters and streak overhead. It is quickly lost behind the next ridge.

Collan pinched the bridge of his nose through the envirosuit. That could really only mean one thing. Natives.

"Want to go back and meet the natives, Niil?" He asked.

He then got on the com, "Ensign Navarra. Please advise on your status and your flight."

Niil watched Navara's shuttle streak by overhead and bit back a curse.  Yeah, either the indigs are coming, or he just left us here.  "We'll see.  Let me have a look first."  Hefting his macro-binoculars, he focused them on and around the plateau.

OOC:  Yeah, umm, Niil decided to leave his blaster pistol and blaster rifle on board the shuttle.  He's sticking to Kota's advice, even if it is 2 decades old.  :D

There is no response on the comlink.

Niil scans down slope to the camp. You can't see all of it from this vantage, but it doesn't look overrun with any life forms. It appears much as you left it, minus one shuttle.

Collan's face dropped in his suit.

A soft "Oh, karabast" came over the com from Collan. The Dark Side.

"He better not be controlled by Dark Side," Colan muttered.

More loudly, Collan said, "I guess we get to find out what happened now."

Niil swore softly.  "Nothing that I can see from here, but I can't see all of the camp."  He lowered his macro-binoculars and absently patted his hip where his blaster pistol was usually holstered.  "Better start recording, Collan . . . start with a summary of what you sensed.  Maybe we should head for the city?  If the locals are hostile, we might be able to use the city for cover."

OOC:  Just to confirm . . . without that tent, these suits will protect us from radiation for about an hour, correct?

The suits provide unlimited protection. Without the suits, you're good for an hour or so, but the effect is gradual and cumulative.
