Mission #15 - Prison Break, Part II
« on: March 10, 2014, 08:07:33 AM »
[OOC: Taking some liberties here.]

With the Bridge and Engineering secured, you own the ship. Mariah, working from the main computer, gets the rest of the crew isolated easily. Internal security measures incapacitate most of them, and the rest can stay locked up while you execute the next phase of the plan.

With the ship secure, your skeleton crew takes up their stations and runs through preliminary checks. When everything comes back green, Jex takes command from the bridge. Geneva and Mariah are pressed into service on the technical front, and Collan is working in the medical bay with MA Ofella treating wounded from both sides of the conflict. Your troops have been assigned security to discourage the surviving crew from any thrilling heroics, but it is a task that does not require much supervision. And since Jexian expressly forbade Trax conducting any interrogation of the COMPNOR captain. With little else to do, Trax and Niil head down to the medical bay and check on the young girl from the bridge.

Ofella spots you as you come in, and nods. "She's hurt bad, but if she can rest a week or so, she'll pull through."

You lend a hand in the medical bay, until the manoeuvre warning sounds and the ship enters hyperspace.

Minutes later, you exit hyperspace. There are several tense moments while a brief battle rages outside, but the element of surprise is on your side, and about 5 minutes after dropping out of hyperspace, word comes down that the prison ship has been disabled. A cheer goes through your crew. Your part in all this is done, it's up to the cleanup-crew from here.

Then, perhaps an hour later, Collan, Nill and Trax and summoned to the bridge. It sounds urgent.

When you arrive, Jex is speaking into a comlink. "...hold up, do not advance! Keep them bottled up, but do not engage!"

Jex then turns to you. "We have a problem.

"We are encountering stronger than expected resistance on board the prison ship. The cleanup crew has encountered an Imperial Guard. If there is one, there's bound to be others. I need you and one team to head over to the prison ship and find out what is going on. Let the regulars handle the bulk of the mop-up, but if there are Imperial Guards on that ship, I need to know how many and why they are there. Take one team with you, mix and match if you want, but I need one team here for security. You can take Mariah of Geneve if you want, but Geneva might have insight into what is going on. We've got wounded over there, and some of the prisoners are in a bad way, so take Collan here with you."

Collan said, "Imperial Guard? There has to be someone important then. We'll need a slicer to pull a ship's log for sure. Let me grab my kit and i'll be ready."

Trax gave an audible groan.  He was down to one modified pistol, all his heavier weapons had remained behind at HQ and now they had to take on Imperial Guards.  On the plus side, it would give him an outlet for some of his anger and frustration.  He'd been unable to get his hands on the captain and give the man a sound beating.  The spec clenched his fists tightly as he took a deep breath, letting his hands relax as he exhaled.

"Intel said the prison ship had a myriad of internal defenses.  Our first stop should be the bridge or engineering so we can see about bring those into play.  And I trust Mariah more, but Geneva might have an easier time bypassing their security.

I need to get my hands on a backup weapon first."

[OOC: I'm guessing it's unlikely that there would be any heavy blaster pistols laying around so either an assault rifle or blaster rifle (preferably the former) would be his next choice(s).]

[OOC: No rifles, buy you can scrounge up a heavy blaster pistol.]

Jex shakes his head. "The defences are all controlled from the various guard posts, precisely to prevent someone gaining the bridge and controlling the ship. In fact the bridge crew separated not long after they realized what was going on. The bridge section is disabled and secured, but the prison section is still viable and defended. Once we control a guard post, we control an entire prison bay. We had one bay secured already and were working on the next one when we received a report about a red-armoured stormtrooper."

Niil's guts felt as if someone dumped a bucket of slush inside them, and he checked a sigh of resignation.  Red troopers.  Again.  Exce-frakking-lent.  "Trax, let's get our team together and lock this drek down before it gets worse.  Likely we've got some big honcho prisoner on board to merit Imperial Guards."

OOC:  Yup, take Geneva.  Should we take the best of Aurek and Besh for this?

Great, not only would they have to fight elite storm troopers in who knows how many bays, they'd have to fight internal defenses at the same time.  And the bigger problem, if there were Imperial Guards, might there also be a dark jedi on board.  He also wondered if they weren't just there for a prisoner, had the imperials been prepared for a possible rebel assault?

"Do we have any gas weapons or any other non-standard weaponry?  Last time we met Imperial Guards we also met a dark jedi.  Blasters and grenades might not get the job done."

"About a dozen stun grenades. With rebreathers, and some good reflexes, you should be able to avoid some of the internal defences."

"I was actually thinking more about what we'd need against a dark jedi but I guess we'll have to make due with what we've got.

Alright, we'll need the best guns and best throwing arms we can have, two each, and a kothe or two in case things get too up close and personal should do it."

[ooc: this is where Nick Tarwin woulda been really useful ;)]

Collan swallowed. He could shoot, throw a decent punch, and do some battle field medicine but going up against imperial guards...he was nowhere close to that good.

"I guess I'm along for the ride," he said, "My skills will be more useful as a medic than a fighter."

Trax looked at Collan.

"I get the feeling we'll be keeping you plenty busy playing medic.  Bring lots of medpacks and stims."

[OOC: Any objections if Trax brings the girls vibroblade along?  Between that and his vibroknife, at least he's got something if it comes down to melee.]

[OOC: Sure, just keep in mind a vibroblade won't be much use against a lightsabre.]

Jexian nods. "If there's nothing else, the shuttle leaves in 5 minutes. It's your show, Niil. Don't get carried away."

Niil raised in eyebrow in mock surprise.  "Now where would the fun be in that, sir?"  Turning to the others, he said, "You heard the el-tee.  We're looking at Imperial Guard for opposition, and they're about as pleasant as Krayt dragons, but they die like anyone else if you coordinate your fire and use cover."  Niil hesitated, then added, "If - and I repeat if - you see any bad guy or girl waving around a lightsaber, watch your collective asses, 'cause  those blades will cut through anything.  Jedi have been known to deflect blaster bolts with those blades.  If you need to bring down a Dark Jedi, same rule as when dealing with an Imperial guard - except you better be shooting more frequently and a lot faster.  Again, that's if we meet up with one, so keep frosty."

"Any questions?  If not, let's haul ass.  We have a shuttle waiting."

OOC:  Assuming our strike team is with us.  If not, I'll save the pep talk for once we get in the shuttle.

Collan nodded, "Yeah...I get that feeling too," he replied to Trax, "I'll bring plenty of everything."

[ooc: take a full medical loadout for a medic...plus weapons. I'll scrounge the current medbay for supplies if need be]

[OOC: The medical bay has a good supply of medical equipment - medpacks and stims would be what you're most concerned with. You can have 5 of each. Stims act to remove the effects of pain and injury without actually healing the injury.]

Loaded and equipped, your team enters the shuttle bay, and are surprised to find an older human male standing there.

He is wearing civilian clothes, and a hooded robe with the hood down. Something seems familiar about him to Trax, but he can;t place him at the moment.

He sees you, and raises his hands. "Be at peace, I am not your enemy."

Then it clicks. You have seen him before, in the Bladesea when you were working that bounty on Jeremy Wilton. You found Wilton, and the old guy was there prepared to defend him. The old guy convinced Jex and you to fake Wilton's death.

The man certainly seems non-threatening, and he has no visible weapons.

Trax's jaw almost dropped.  Not this guy again.  And Niil was even more gullible than Jex, who knows what the old guy could convince him to do.

"You again?  How the...no, I don't care how.  What happened, your friend finally run into a hunter that you couldn't persuade to let him go?"
