The night passes uneventfully, and you find a rock outcrop to set your humble camp against. As the sun rises, the wind starts to pick up, and the strange moaning picks up again, rising through the hours. It almost seems to reverberate in your head. It isn't long before your head aches with it.
Sleep is fitful, and you find yourself in a half-dream, half-memory again. By sunset, you don't recall anything that passed, but you find yourself feeling restless and unsettled.
The next two days pass much the same, and your lack of sleep is starting to take a toll on you. You find yourself dozing off even while you are walking. This happens three nights later, when you suddenly find yourself kneeling beside Rindu. He is lying wounded and bleeding as you care for him with bloodied hands, trying to save him. The scene is out of a memory, but when he speaks to you, the words are different.
"You killed him you know. If you had told him to stay home that day, those pirates never would have gotten him. He'd be here right now. You caused this, you know. Everything that happened to you could have been avoided with a simple, 'Stay with me' - but you let him die. That is the root of it - the wellspring from which you flow. Why did you let him die that day? Why didn't you try and save him?"
You are only dimly aware of the crunch of sand beneath your feet as you walk in a kind of daze.
