"Well, there's something I've never been accused of being before." Trax said, trying to add a little humor, despite the seriousness of the discussion. He turned to look out the view port, watching the stars streak by as he spoke.
"It's funny, I never saw or considered myself as part of the resistance. I even turned down a commission that the KDF command offered. This whole thing started because of my beef with Gratta. I needed to lay low for a while and happened to be on Karvis when the Imps launched their assault. The situation offered a target rich environment to vent some anger and plan my next moves. Helping the KDF was just a way to stick it to the Empire, and in my mind, Gratta as well." Trax paused for a few moments before turning back to Nim.
"But nobility has nothing to do with me facing Galen, it's a matter of practicality. I figure I've got the best chance at buying everyone the time to get the leaders to safety."
Trax left out that his best guess was that he could buy maybe half a minute, and that's if he could keep the jedi talking for most of it. The image of Ch'lana's saber cutting the head off the dark jedi on the prison ship flashed through his mind. Soon it could be his head flying through the air...
It was strange, the former hunter had never given death any thought before now. Despite being nearly killed on a number of occasion, actually dying had never crossed his mind. Granted he'd also never had time to think about it in those situations either. But now, all he had was time to think, at least for the next 24 hours or so.
