"Danny. Danny Webster", the girl replied. Again, the slight shift in her posture - her gaze shifted down toward the ground. There was definitely something she was afraid to mention...

When everyone else had left the lift she lowered her voice and looked into Keshani's eyes. Her tone and posture was of concern and not accusatory.

"I am so sorry for what has happened to you. It is not my business, not my place, and I would never ask you to speak of it. Please understand that. But this person that tried to save you, if there is something that we need to know, please tell me. Not only are our lives at stake, but the entire fledgling rebellion against the Empire. Billions more will be enslaved, murdered if we fail in this endeavor. Sweet pea, I need to know everything important that you may not be telling."

Again she looked down at the ground and then back up to Nim. She took a slow breath. It seemed easier right now, for some reason, to concentrate - ever since going down the turbolift shaft; as if her emotions were muted or dampered; easier to talk and express herself; easier to not be constantly scared and in pain.

"I lied before." she said quietly. "My name's not Demaria. It's Keshani. And Danny Webster was an Imperial Officer."

Her tone, which had been pretty calm, took on a note of desperateness; of pleading.

"But she tried to rescue me and they caught her and I don't know where she is now, but I know they're going to kill her all because she tried to help me. Please. I have to help her."

There was clearly more to the story, but there was no more evidence that she was intentionally holding anything back - just that she wasn't sharing all of what had happened to her since being brought to this place...

Nim was a bit relieved and intentionally showed it. "Many helping us now are using false names. Nim certainly isn't my birth name. No need to tell anyone yours, it is ultimately whatever makes you comfortable. I promise no one will think less of you. I however cannot give mine out due to the nature of my work, it might hurt many people if it fell into the wrong hands, so I hide behind several."

Then she nodded. "We have some former officers helping us here today. People that have done horrendous things. It is jarring, to be sure, but even they can find redemption. We will do what we can for you."

She didn't say no. She didn't refuse outright and say Hell no - no way no how. She said "We will do what we can for you".

That was a good first step...

She nodded her thanks and again was struck by the fact that these people would be so willing to help her. She was a slave. A kid. A street urchin.

Why would they care?

She realized that she had just shared more about herself in this past few minutes than she had shared with anyone in what felt like forever. She still felt a bit....strange...like someone had turned down the "volume" on her emotions. She didn't understand what was going on. But part of her wondered if she really needed to. It was a nice relief.

Do I really need to question it right now?

She shrugged to herself and waited until it was okay to leave the lift.

A minor deviation from their path, Trax figured.  And even if it was a major deviation, it didn't matter to him.  If this friend meant that much to the girl, who now decided to reveal another name, then he'd do everything he could to help.

The rebel looked at Niil, "Point is yours." he finally replied.

[OOC: Unless the plan is to move single file, Trax will walk beside Nim, and have Kesh walk beside her.  If we're moving single file, then he'll walk behind the two women, taking up the rear guard.]

Niil nodded, and holstered his blaster pistol in favor for the blaster rifler.  Staying close to the left side of the corridor wall, Niil went forward quietly, his blaster rifle trained on the turn up ahead.

Collan whispered to Ch'lana, "Could you mindtrick our way past the security checkpoint or if I can talk fast enough just give us an edge to convince of our legitimacy."

He closes his eyes a moment. "No, there are too many. I don't think we can avoid that fight."

Nim laid her hand on Trax's arm as if to stop him from replying before he even started.

"Go ahead and strut your stuff, man. Let's see what you can do."

Trax really wanted to express the absurdity of Collan's idea, none of them, in any way possible looked remotely like they belonged there.  The young man was likely to get filled full of plasma long before he got within earshot of anyone at the checkpoint.  It also meant he'd have to wait a few seconds longer before putting some holes into more stormtroopers.  But Nim's touch made him bite his tongue, and he let out a bit of a sigh instead of voicing any objections.

[OOC: Taking some liberties for story.]

The group moves down the corridor. More announcements report security breeches in other sections, and it sounds like the whole station is on alert.

You get to the corner without incident, and Collan heads forward to try and distract the guards, but before we can round the corner, Nightshade materializes in front of him, back to Collan, with an arm out.

"This is ill-advised. They are barricaded in the blast door, weapons at the ready. They will not respond to speech - you will only get yourself killed."

Collan sneaks a peek around the corner, and the quick glance confirms Nightshade's description. These are troopers who consider themselves under attack, and are clearly ready to shoot anything that moves.

You face 80m of open corridor, the only cover structure support beams every 10m.

[PM sent to Keshani.]

Collan pointed to the stun grenades at his belt.

"I think we need to even the odds a bit."
