Collan, Nightshade, Nill, Nim, Trax: Raid on Horuz

[Collan]

Damn! Too long! Instead of an easy trot, Collan broke for the repeater, hoping the smokescreener would prevent him from getting hit. He did try to low though and offer less of an opportunity.

[Niil Spaar]

Niil heard Nim's message about hostiles arriving, and followed closely behind Collan, his rifle raised and scoping for threats.  If they could get to that repeater and get it into play, they'd be able to chew apart the reinforcements.

[Nightshade]

Nightshade added his voice to the comm, "they are venting the corridor and deploying grenades."

[Collan]

"Nightshade...your group is? Can you counter?" Collan spoke into his com, "We're coming up to take position on the repeaters.

[GM Craig]

Blaster fires flies down the corridor, first at Nightshade then Ch'lana. They manage to dodge out of the way without much difficulty.

Collan breaks into a sprint, and reaches the fourth strut and cover. Niil breaks into a run, and reaches cover at the third support, on the opposite sides of the corridor from Collan. Stormtroopers take shots at them just after the reach cover, but the shots hit the supports. Keshani reaches cover behind the second support strut. A blaster shot comes close to Nim, but she ducks back a step and avoids it easily. Then a shot hits the strut over Keshani's head. It wasn't really close, but that made this very real - these troopers were shooting to kill.

Another trooper takes a shot at Nigthshade, but the Shinobi is in a tough position to hit, and the shot goes wide.

Ch'lana activates his lightsabre. In the fog, the blue flight shines like a beacon as he drops into the defensive Soresu form. He starts walking slowly forward, reaching the midpoint between struts 2 and 3. A trooper fires at Ch'lana, but the Jedi doesn't even move and the shot goes wide.

Nim ducks to the right and sidles up next to Keshani behind the second strut. Nim can see Keshani has unceremoniously stuffed the UID power core and some tools into her satchel, half-completed.

Nigthshade sees an opportunity and leaps from cover, slashing with his first sword and following that up with a thrust from the second. The first blade catches the trooper on the chest, ripping open armour and leaving a red streak in the flesh underneath. The second blade catches the trooper just under the rounded part of the chest plate and runs the trooper completely through. Not standing on ceremony, Nigthshade kicks off the gunner and ducks back to try and minimize the target he presents.

7 more shots are fired, at various targets, but none of them come close to hitting.

Trax then moves up, providing Nim and Keshani with some meat-shield cover.

5 more shots streak down the corridor, but none of them post any danger.

[Collan]

Collan slowed down and took his time for this part. It had been a crazy risk to run like he had and the Force must have been with him. He kept his crouch and hustled to the next strut.

"Nightshade...coming up as fast as we can. I'm on you in 10.Keshani, how are your mods coming on those packages you got a bit ago?"

[full move. 10m right? Take cover at next strut. If it becomes clear I'm visible, I'll fire for effect to obscure sight.]

[Niil Spaar]

Niil looped around the strut he was hiding behind and sprinted for the next support.  They needed to get those repeaters within the next few seconds, or they were in deep trouble.

OOC:  Double move for Niil (now heading for the repeater by Nightshade), and he won't fire at any targets to conserve any dodge chances he'll need.

[Trax]

Trax was torn.  He couldn't protect Nim or Keshani if he wasn't with them, but if they made it to the barrier and the troopers deactivated the shield they'd be pinned down and he definitely wouldn't be able to protect them.  They could crawl back through the hatch but then the group would be divided and the two women would have to run for the barrier under fire, if what Nightshade had said was true and the troopers were working on venting the corridor, or wait until all 20 troopers were taken down by the others and hope further reinforcements didn't arrive before then.  But if they let him, maybe, just maybe...

Trax turned to the two women.

"Listen, there were eighteen shots fired.  Count them, then run."

Trax took Keshani's hand and put his rebreather in her palm.  "No arguments." he said before continuing to address them both.

"Stay together, count the shots then run as fast as you can." he repeated.

"When you get to the barrier, get down and make yourself as small as possible.  Get Buzz to meet you there and his shield if you can."

Trax's eyes locked with Nim's.  It would have been obvious to her he was concerned, more for the safety of herself and Keshani than himself, but he would be one man against a dozen troopers.  This wasn't going to be easy.  This was however, in his mind at least, the best option.  He turned away, drew his second pistol and walked towards the open corridor.

[Nightshade]

"Grenades being deployed from rifles, trying to counter.  Take cover."  Thinking quickly, the Shinobi had no real solid ideas on how to prevent the grenades from being fired.  The best thing he decided he could manage was to redirect the shots to be less dangerous.  He thrust a sword through the closest aperture before moving to the next closest hole to repeat the process.

Actions: stab trooper through hole, move, repeat, dodge

[Niil Spaar]

Niil paled.  Blaster shots were one thing, but explosions were going to be damned difficult to evade.  "Nightshade!  Can you shove grenades through the firing slits?"

[Keshani]

It was all happening too fast - the almost blinding flash of the blaster fire clearly set for kill as it hit the strut above her head, the calm statement by Nim that more Troopers were coming up behind them, Nightshade's statement that the Troopers were now beginning to deploy grenades out of their rifles...

For the longest time Kesh hadn't really had any true desire to keep living. She hadn't been suicidal - not since That time, but she didn`t exactly put in a lot of effort to keep herself alive, either. She figured what happened would happen.

But now faced with this situation and the very real chance that she COULD end up dead, she found herself terrified of that fact. She found herself realizing she didn't actually WANT to die.

Her body started shaking a bit as adrenaline coursed through her body, fight or flight response in full effect now.

She blinked as Trax gave them orders in no uncertain terms.

She stared at him for a second, in awe.

She wished the explosives were finished. She wished she could have been just a bit quicker. Because she had an idea of what Trax was going to try to do and she didn't like it at all.

But another part of her - the part that wanted to survive - made her keep her mouth shut.

She wanted to live. If he wanted to sacrifice himself...

But at the same time that thought made her feel like she wanted to throw up. What was this? Was she actually developing....feelings...for these people?

She hadn't known them a few hours ago. Why should she care what happened to them as long as they got her out of her somehow?

She pushed that thought quickly away, forcing her attention back to the here and now - to the rebreather that was now forced into her hand by the very man she was just thinking those negative thoughts about. Her stomach turned a bit.

"I'm sorry." she whispered to him, but didn't argue anymore. She just placed the rebreather in her mouth and positioned herself so that she could move quickly once the 18 shots were fired off.

<actions: count shots and then match speed with Nim as they run. Leaving speed up to Nim since she is more experienced then Kesh...>

[Collan]

Into the com, Collan said, "Hey! Can we set these repeaters to just keep shooting without us pulling the trigger? It be great if we could cover our six once we get past the barrier. "

[Nim Naja]

Nim stared back at Trax for an eternal second. She blinked at him, and he could see in her expression that she worried of him too. But her features hardened and her lips pursed.

"Understood." The woman briefly looked back at her wristcomp and raised her hand. "Five seconds. Ten if they're generous."

Nim dropped down into a sprint ready stance and waited for the shots.

OOC: Double move. Instruct Buzz to cover her with the shield if it doesn't incur a penalty.

[Niil Spaar]

Niil managed to answer Collan as he was running.  "No accuracy that way, and Trax might get hit.  Besides, once we get past this energy shield, it protects us, too."

[Collan]

"No...we dismount it and take it through the barrier with us...it'll fire where Ch'lana cut a hole."
