Nim watched the Jedi open his eyes and waited for them to settle on her own pale orbs. Usually they could do the speaking for her but in this case she wanted the vocal honor.

"I've pulled you from the brink and it was costly, so now I can say this with impunity. Wave your "weapon" in my face again and I'll take it and corkscrew it so far up your wagyx
that you'll be puking plasma."

The woman winked and turned swiftly, ducking down to run towards the unconscious but stable Nekami.

"Nim? How's Ch'lana?" the comlink cut in.

"Not dead yet," Nim replied to Collan, purposely matching Trax.

OOC: Whatever run speed + dodge will get her there this round. If it's a single move I'll use up to 2cps on Nightshade. Fyi she's referencing what Ch'lana did on the ship after she politely pleaded with him not to flash his saber near Trax.

Nim gets to her feet, and she and Buzz make a quick run to Nightshade's side. Nim drops to her knees and skids in, trying to avoid fire from the troopers on the other side of the barricade.

Trax slowly steps back 5m, firing his left hand-cannon as he does so. He catches the last trooper square in the chest, and he flies back, hitting the deck hard.

Collan, sabre in hand, starts once again to connect the gun ports and try to cut a large-enough hole for people to pass through the barricade.

Trax raises his right pistol and sights, ready to shoot.

Nim ignores the battle around her and breaks open her last medpack. Her fingers fly over the controls, administer the drugs and apply the spray-on bandages. In a few moments she is rewarded with Nightshade's eyes fluttering open as he takes his first non-ragged breath. His vitals are stable, though he is still injured.

Niil takes a couple of shots at the troopers behind the barricade. One of the shots impacts the barricade harmlessly, but the second shot manages to thread the needle and ping off the chest plate of the trooper. He staggers to a knee, then falls over prone, unconscious.

The last trooper still up takes a shot at Collan, but he can't hit the gun port.

Ch'lana rolls up onto his knees and takes a deep breath. You see the lines of his face soften as pain leaves him. He then extends a hand towards the remaining trooper. The trooper flies up into the air, hovers a moment, then slams down into the deck with great force. He does not get back up.

The two mechs continue to close. Though they are not quite able to close to get a firing angle, Keshani and Trax can see the edges of their forms as they approach. In seconds they will be around the corner.

[Actions?]

Trax has a +1D preparation bonus on his "hit the power core" shot, and Keshani has a +2D preparation bonus on her throw.

The entire square of the intersection is now being rained on by coolant fluid.

Nightshade is prone, and will have to spend half a move to stand if he wants to go anywhere.

Collan is halfway through making his cut.

PM's sent to Collan and Niil.

"Niil," Collan said, "You're better at talking than me. Tell Nightshade...he might be able to talk some sense."

"Keep working at the barricade, Collan.  I'll . . . figure out something.  Nim, Kesh, Nightshade . . . get ready to go through the barrier!"  Niil sprinted for one of the light repeaters.  He made eye contact with Ch'lana as he ran, and shook his head in a silent plea.  That isn't the answer, Ch'lana.  We'll get through thisl  You have friends here.  Fight the call, damn it!  You have to forgive yourself for the past!

OOC:  Grabbing the nearest repeater and slapping a power pack in it.  Hopefully it will work.

It took a moment for the Shinobi to register that he had come back to consciousness.  Moving his head slowly he takes in Nim and sees that she must have been responsible for returning him to life, so to speak.  Nodding his thanks, he heard Niil's call and slowly moved to take his feet and prepare to get through the barrier.

Actions: get to feet, dodge as needed.

Collan kept cutting and said to the Shinobi, "You're better at talking to Ch'lana than me. He's stopped resisting the Dark Side. I know it probably doesn't make sense but it's like Ch'lana has let himself be more open to evil and violence."

Trax kept both pistols raised while he waited for the opportune moment to give Kesh the signal to throw.

He hated waiting.  Waiting gave a person too much time to think which had a tendency to override their instincts.  That, or it caused one's mind to wander and think about things like what was going on at the barrier.  From the comm chatter Nim had gotten Ch'lana up but according to what he overheard between Niil and Collan, the jedi was going to a dark place.  Not that Trax cared for the man, but he did care how the jedi's actions affected Nim and Kesh's chances of surviving and escaping.

"Listen old man," he began into the comm.

"I don't care about you, you don't care about me, and I'm just fine with that.  But there are people here who I do care about.   You don't have to care about them, but damn it, you do have to help me protect them.  You told me they're safer with another protector.  You told me saving the senators has to be our goal.  So I decided to trust you and I let things go so we could focus on that.

If whatever is going on in your head puts our lives and the lives of the senators at risk then it's your turn to let things go, it's your turn to focus."

[OOC: Forgot about this.  One shot at the core, apply cps if necessary.  Cps can be used for the dodge roll against the mechs firing if required as well.

Shots remaining after this round, RB:8, LB:9]

Nim's eyebrow rose at the conversations. It was funny how everyone was so worried over Trax when Trax had nothing on this guy. And certainly nothing on Galen.

And I was the one institutionalized? she thought to Alexa. Then her mind blipped back to an earlier conversation when they were arriving, some bet about the schematics. Damn, I owe Trax dinner.

The woman put a stern hand on the Shinobi's shoulder before he went anywhere. "Sit, need to finish this or you might bite it next time." She grabbed one of his medpacs before he could argue.

Keshani remained hidden as much as she could and waited tensely for Trax to tell her to throw.

She listened to the commlink chatter back and forth.

She still had only ever heard stories and rumors about the Jedi and really had no idea what they were talking about. But she did recognize the stress in the voices of the group, and key words like "evil" and "violence" stood out in the fragmented conversation that took place.

It was Trax's comments that gave her pause the most. It was almost ridiculous to even think about, yet in the middle of everything that was going on, a strange tingly/fluttery feeling kinda was taking root in her stomach.

"...but there are people here who I do care about. You don't have to care about them, but damn it, you do have to help me protect them...."

He sounded so...passionate.

Her thoughts turned to Nim - the focus of this man's passion.

And for a moment she felt something that almost felt like jealousy.

But that was crazy. In the middle of everything that was going on? She doubted she was even going to survive to make it off of this station, yet jealous? Really?

She shook her head, trying to clear it, but one thought just kinda stuck there:

I wish, some day, someone would care that much about me....

But then the clank of the footsteps of the rapidly approaching metal....THINGS....jerked her attention back to the present.

Self pity was a wasteful emotion. She had a job to do....

<Actions: remain behind cover and prepare to throw at Trax's word>

Nightshade nodded at Nim vaguely and stayed where he was on the deck.  He was too absorbed in the conversation to even note that the woman had touched him.  He waited with great interest to see what the result would be of Trax's words before he added any of his own.

Recognizing the change in threat direction Buzz shifts to the side to shield Nim from the oncoming mechs. She keeps her head down and works on Nightshade. An injection of artificial blood and some analgesics further improve Nightshade's condition.

Niil steps past Collan and heads to one of the repeaters. He gives it a look over and finds it is securely mounted. He might be able to remove it from the mount, but it would take time and tools. Yanking off the power cable, he cannot find a receptacle to receive a blaster pack. It seems these repeaters were not meant to be mobile.

Keshani and Trax both wait, one calmly the other anxiously, as the mechs continue to approach. This is going to require precise timing...

Ch'lana appears to ignore all the traffic on the comlink. The Jedi appears to still be getting his bearings, but he can hear the metallic feet of the mechs closing. He reaches for his sabre, but finds the spot on his belt empty. Setting his jaw, he turns and runs towards Trax.

Meanwhile, Collan continues to cut with Ch'lana's sabre. The whole is about 3/4 complete by this time.

Then the first mech rounds the northern corner. It levels the cannon at Trax, and the barrels start spinning rapidly. Blaster bolts rip down the corridor, covering a huge swath of ground. Surprised at the volume of the onslaught, Trax still manages to twist and roll out of the way - barely.

Blaster fire fills the corridor, and Keshani screams as she ducks back in fear and blaster shots hammer all around her.

A moment later, the second mech comes around the corner and also opens fire. But Trax is off balance, and the second mech has him flat-footed as he tries to recover. Blaster bolts rip through the air, and Trax sees his death before him. [Dodge was 20 -vs- 37 to hit. Your resist was 10, they did 27 damage - not counting CP's]

Then there is a screech of tortured metal as a section of the deck in front of Trax suddenly lifts into the air, hovering in front of him. The blaster bolts slam into the deck plating, which shudders but holds it's place mid-air.

A quick glance over his shoulder shows Ch'lana, head down and both arms stretched forward, obviously straining.

With both mechs in the target zone, Trax calls out, "Mariah! Now!"

Keshani hesitates, but she knows who Trax means. She swallows her fear and a moment later when there is a lull in the blasts in her immediate vicinity, she leans out to toss the droid power core.

It arcs through the air, a silver ball reflecting the plasma flying all around it. But the power core was heavier in the throw than she expected, and the arc is shorter than she had intended. The core hits the deck several meters short, and bounces. But it is a high bounce, that easily carries it to the wall. Trax, his blaster already lined up, squeezes off a shot. With the hail of blaster fire, the smoke and the sparks flying, he does not have a clear shot. Acting more on instinct, Trax squeezes the firing stud, and the blaster roars in his hand.

The bolt vanishes in the smoke, and Trax does not even know if he hit. Keshani, from her angle, cannot see the power core any longer either. A moment passes.

Then, there is a cacophonous explosion at the far end of the corridor. It staggers the mechs half a step, but otherwise they are unharmed. A moment passes. Another.

The desperate plan has failed, and the mechs are still up.

Then, without warning, there is a thunderous crackle, and blue lightning explodes out of the far wall. It fills the end of the coridor. The coolant-soaked mechs immediately start twitching. A secondary explosion goes off one the left one. Then, the one on the right explodes in a ball of fire. Shrapnel rips down the corridor, and the concussion knocks Trax from his feet. Keshani, protected by the support beam, is safe, though her ears are ringing loudly and she cannot hear.

A moment later, the lighting stops as the safety cut-outs engage.

The deck plat falls with a loud clang, and Ch'lana drops to his knees. Anyone looking can see he is a bloody mess - he appears to have caught some shrapnel from the explosion, though he is still up and conscious despite major wounds.

"Holy frakking sith-spit," Niil muttered in mixed horror and awe.  Dashing over to Collan, he blurted, "Pass me the saber and let me take over here!  Help Nim treat everyone, and see if you can use the Force to heal Ch'lana.  It's worth a shot; you already Force-grabbed his saber without training."  Lowering his voice, he whispered, "And don't take no for an answer regardless of what he says or threatens.  He's taken enough damned punishment already."

Flicking a glance back down the hallway, his eyes narrowed.  There, people, he just saved Trax from becoming carbonized and got himself shredded in the process.  Anything else he has to do to satisfy you?

The first mech rounded the corner and leveled its cannon at Trax and Keshani's eyes went wide. "Holy frell..."

She wasn't even aware of the words escaping her lips - her gaze was caught and she was frozen staring at the towering thing.

The enchantment was broken, however, when the thing started shooting and blaster bolts started ripping down the corridor.

An involuntary scream escaped the teenage girl's lips and she dove back behind what little cover she could find, praying to any Powers that may be to spare her life or at least to end things quickly if she were to die here.

But then there was a new sound and Kesh chanced a tiny peak to see a metal section of the deck hovering in front of Trax, blocking the blaster bolts from reaching him.

Kesh shook her head, convinced that she was hallucinating. Maybe she was already dead?

"Mariah! Now!"

Kesh blinked and stared at Trax for a full second before realizing that he meant her. Mariah? Who...."

She stared a split second longer before jerking into action, forcing her body to move through sheer will power.

Taking a deep breath she threw, again, pleading silently to the Powers that Be to help her not screw up.

'If I kill all of these people....'

And for a few minutes she thought that she had.

As she waited, holding her breath as her throw fell lower than she had meant it to be, caught off guard by the akward weight of the core, as Trax's shot seemed to just disappear into the smoke with nothing happening.

'I screwed up. This is my fault...', she cursed, an awful solid pit settling in her stomach. Trax had trusted her and she had screwed up. And now they would die.

She took a slow breath, preparing for what she was sure to be the end, as the Mechs continued to spray blaster fire down the corridor.

Maybe she should even step out into the beam of fire, ensuring that it would be quick....

But just as she was contemplating these thoughts of self-pity she was caught off guard again by a deafening explosion that seemed to almost rattle her insides just as much as her outsides.

"Holy....."

The hallway was lit up with a brilliant flash which transended to the two mechs, causing them to start twitching uncontroably. Another flash and shrapnel ripped through the corridor, and the teenage girl screamed again, ducking back behind the support beam she had been using for cover.

Her ears were ringing so loudly she had NO idea what anyone around her was saying, if anything, and for a minute she looked around, panicking wildly hoping that they were still there and not dead.

"Trax! Trax!", she called out in panic, forgetting all about her "cool teenager" attitude and for a few seconds just being a scared kid.

But then she remembered herself and she took a slow breath again.

She was an adult now, not a kid. Willing her racing heart to slow down she leaned back against the wall, taking in the scene around her before deciding what to do next.

Collan extinguished the blade before handing it to Niil.

"Not sure what I can do but he should be able to do something..." He ran towards Trax, Ch'lana, Keshani. They had very little time and needed to get out of here quickly.

"Ch'lana...can you do Jedi Healing?"

Nim stared at the aftermath of the explosion. Ch'lana was clearly hurt but yet mobile, kesh seemed almost panicked. But her heart leaped in her chest at seeing Trax on the ground. Before it even registered her boots were pounding steel.

?Trax? Trax you alright?!? Nim started to shout, her voice going up an octave and her visor scanning everyone as she neared. Though she made a bee line for the bounty hunter she mouthed a thank you to Ch?lana.

The Jedi?s blood was already a mushy mess of meds and she was actually fearful anything else just might kill him. Collan took off though, and it sounded like there was hope of another way to aid him. If not, she was gonna need Trax, and fast. If he was okay.
