Once the decision had been made, Nightshade took note of the route that had been chosen and activated his suit before moving about 100 yards ahead to scout out any potential threats.

Actions: go ghost and scout.

Collan paused to grab a trooper's utility belt before doing anything else.

"We'll need the powerpacks for the rifles," he noted.

"That trooper back there ain't dead." Nim pointed to the one clearly still breathing. And possibly playing dead.

She walked over to the closest one to pick up some of the useful items it had, including the helmet that might get them access quicker than slicing.

Ooc: on phone so someone else will have to look up which one it is :P

You strip the troopers of anything usable. The thermal detonators are secured and keyed to individual troopers, so they are not much use to you, but you can all carry a utility belt with a couple of concussion grenades, power packs and the other gear. Anyone suggesting the killing of the unconscious Stormtrooper is met with a firm "no" from Ch'lana.

[OOC: The wrist comlink is built into the bracer, so if you want one, you'll need to wear it. Likewise, the helmet comlink is integral to the helmet - there's no way to remove it from the helmet intact, so if you want to use that, you need to keep the helmet. Maximum 2 grenades per person, and if you take a belt you can have an extra 5 blaster packs.]

Nightshade heads off ahead of the rest of you, a stripped down copy of the route loaded into his helmet. For safety, everyone with a datapad or wristcomp loads a copy of the route as well, in case you get separated.

By unspoken agreement, the new arrival ends up in the middle of the group, and you move out. The periodic security announcements grow quiet, which is somehow more unsettling. About a minute after you start out, the main lighting fails, and you are left moving through the gloom of emergency lighting. As you move through the corridors, you find any computer panels have been deactivated as well, power disengaged somewhere in the system.

About two minutes later, you come to a heavy blast door. The door is locked and the access panel appears unpowered. You stand there considering for a couple of moments when there is a loud click and the door parts slightly. You glance around and find Demaria pulling her head out of a service panel. "Emergency manual release," is all she says.

With some brute strength and help from Ch'lana, the blast door slides open far enough to allow single file passage, and you move into the next part of the journey - your first turbolift ride. Like everything else in the section, the turbolifts are unpowered. You can force the door easy enough, but you're looking at a ten deck climb to the next set of passages.

[Actions?]

Choices: Climb, find a way to override the power shutdown, or find a way to temporarily power a lift. Or something you guys come up with.

OOC:  Before Craig's post . . .

Niil looked over at where Nim was pointing, and nodded to her.  He rooted around in his medkit and withdrew a sedative syringe.  Dropping into a crouch, he pulled off the unconscious trooper's helmet and jabbed the syringe into the soldier's neck.  Without looking up, he muttered curtly to no one in particular, "Say or think whatever the hell any of you want to, but I don't murder unconscious and unarmed people.  Even if they are stormtroopers."  Tossing the empty syringe to the floor, he straightened and said, "He'll be out for hours.  Let's go."

OOC:  Gah, the one time Niil actually leaves his datapad behind . . .

Collan took a long look at the turbolift door. He was pretty sure he could do the climb but what of the others? If he used the Force and concentrated, there was a pretty good chance he could restore power...maybe. He looked at Niil.

"If we can tolerate a few minutes of waiting, I think we could restore power to the lift," he informed everyone.

Niil eyed the control panel.  "Only problem with that is that the power surge could be detected and localized.  And if have any troopers near where we're getting out, we'd be womp rats in a cage.  But we're also running against the clock here . . ."  Looking at Nim and Demaria, he said, "Can either or both of you work with Collan and get this lift active?  Or do all of you feel more comfortable with a climb?"

Keshani looked nervously at the lift for a minute in response to Niil's question.

She could probably do it, but there was that thing about having others rely on her again...

She chewed her lip uncomfortably for a second as her stomach did a sort of flip-flop dance inside of her.

She knew that the safety features of the lift would have kicked in, recalling it to its lowest point and locking it in place as soon as the power was out. It would be hard work to haul the lift manually back up to their level so that they could work on powering it...

Finally - "If someone has rope I can go down and try to get it working if we can find something to power it - maybe some of the emergency lights?"

Unlocking it would be easy. Rigging the alternative power source and manually controlling the repulsors would be much more challenging.

Her stomach flip flopped again. Maybe they wouldn't trust her enough to let her try....

"How far down is it?" Collan asked, "The belts have synthrope dispensers."

The teenage girl shrugged. "Don't got xray vision.. someones gonna have to open the doors to find that out."

Her attitude appeared to be back, but her reply sounded just a bit too forced to be natural.

Niil nodded with a grin, and took one side of the door, trying to dig his fingers into the seam where the two halves of the door came together.  "Trax?  Can you gimme an assist here?"

Trax glared at Ch'lana and grumbled incoherently when he was forced to let the trooper live.  See if you're still so high and mighty when they kill someone you care about.

And he was still fuming over it when they reached the lift.

"Why doesn't mister high and mighty jedi just lift us all up?"

Ch'lana frowns, then extends a hand at the doors. They resist, but suddenly slam open.

The Jedi looks at Trax a moment. "I think there are some here who would not trust me enough for that. You may be confused about who your enemies are, Trax. You may want to sort that out before we go much farther."

Niil peers down. There appears to be a lift perhaps 50m below you - within range of the syntherope dispenser on a trooper belt.

Ch'lana glances down as well. "Demaria, I could lower you down if you would be comfortable with that. It would be faster and easier than using the rope, but pick whichever you are most comfortable with. If someone can acquire the power supply, I can lower that down as well."

Collan went to the first of the emergency lights. He closed his eyes and took several deep breathes, centering himself against the Dark Side. The constant buzzing in his head was a little annoying but nothing terribly bad. It was a long moment though as Collan sought the peace he felt in the embrace of the Good Side.

He knew he needed to concentrate and focus in order to do this. Hopefully it wasn't a terribly large risk.

He had pointedly ignored Trax's outburst. Clearly, Trax had been hurt badly and probably not all the wounds were physical. Collan could empathize but Trax was or at least didn't seem ready for empathy. This was the famous anger phase of grief. Collan had liked Mariah; she had been one of the first people he'd met in the Resistance. And now she was gone...well not gone...just passed back into the Force.

Collan shook his head. He had a task.

[ooc: concentration on what skill is needed to take apart the Lights' power source. Taking a round to maximize my chances. Will repeat this process until Keah/Demaria say we have enough]

Niil glared at Trax for his outburst. It had sounded prissy, and was completely out of sorts for the man.  He opened his mouth for a retort, but Ch'lana beat him to the punch.  And pretty well said exactly what Nill was going to say.  Instead, Niil waited to hear Demaria's response to Ch'lana's offer.
