Niil: Prisoners
« on: February 26, 2016, 10:55:52 AM »
Niil and Ch'lana are placed in binders, with electro-cuff attachments. Pain starts shooting up Niil's arms, growing stronger every second. The pain forces Niil to use the Force to control it, but even then it quickly forces Niil to concentrate to keep the pain from incapacitating him.

[OOC: The electro-cuffs are specially designed to increase the pain of Jedi prisoners, forcing them to use Concentration and Control pain to keep the pain under control.]

Barely aware of his surroundings, Niil is led down another corridor to dark group of cells. The air is thin here, and the temperature very cold. Here, Ch'lana and Niil are separated, and secured in separate cells. Niil finds himself suspended in an energy field that holds his body firmly in place.

Through his concentration, he is only dimly aware of others in nearby cells - cried and moans, sobs and gasps reveal the presence of others, who must be similarly bound, but the vast bulk of Niil's attention is being used to control the pain his body is feeling.

[pausing here for reactions.]

So this is a taste of what Demaia had to endure,  Niil thought to himself as he blew out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.  The fog lingered around his face in the cold air for a few moments, then dissipated.  Start breathing normally again and calm your - ow! - self, dumbass!  Concentrate, but take in your surroundings.  Maybe there's a way of escaping this Force-forsaken shit-hole.  Then see if you can divide your attention enough to contact Ch'lana.

OOC:  Seeing if there's anything about my restraints that might be exploited/overpowered.  Also, trying to see if I can open a mind-link to Ch'lana without passing out in the process.

[OOC: It takes concentration to control the pain. Concentration precludes you taking any action. But the cuffs adjust the pain to how much you can endure, though a feedback loop that monitors your brain activity. There is a time lag between when something changes and how the cuffs react. Also, if you could somehow make the cuffs think you were feeling more pain than you were, they should dial back the pain.

Hibernation Trance would effectively shut down the cuffs, but they would detect when you awoke and ramp up the pain again. Or, with a sudden burst of Force, overcome the pain temporarily and do something else.

There's also the energy binding field. Without leverage, it will be difficult to extricate yourself from it.

Theoretically, there must be a limit to what the cuffs can do. Using the Force, you might be able to force them to overload or trip safeties. But you're still bound by the energy field.

There are also guards outside, which is another hurdle. But cross one river at a time.

OOC:  How tight are the cuffs?  If Niil was able to dislocate his thumbs, would he be able to slip free of them using a CP?

[OOC: Possibly, though it would be painful. Also, they don't appear to be impossibly sturdy - with a Force boost and some purchase, he might be able to break them.]

Niil started to run through his options even as he was trying to determine the pain inducer's lag time.  Dislocate the thumbs and pop the cuffs?  Painful, but possible using the Force.  Then what?  Getting out of the binding field with no means of leverage would be near-impossible.  He might be able to do it through the Force if he could figure out the dynamics of it all.

And then what, Niil?  Say you pop the cuffs and use the Force to get free of the binding field.  They've probably got at least a half-dozen cameras trained on you, and would come through the door and take you down before the cuffs hit the ground.  Even if you could get free, you'd be weaponless and would have to deal with at least two armed and very highly-trained royal guards.  Bide your time for now, and wait for an opportunity.

Wait a moment . . . or make them think that he was weaker than he actually was?  It might work.  It would probably mean enduring more pain for awhile, but he had to explore his neural patterns.  Perhaps the pain inducers could be spoofed.

OOC:   For "Stage 1", Niil's gonna study his neural patterns for a bit and he'll see if he can spoof the pain inducers to think that he's feeling a lot more pain than he's actually suffering.  And he'll start to put on a show in the hopes that his captors think that he's far weaker and hurt than he actually is.

It is difficult, and takes several (extremely painful) tries, but using the Force to stimulate your own brain, and the output from the cuffs does reduce to manageable levels.

[OOC: You need to keep Control up (1 MAP)]

About twenty minutes later, you feel something... like an ache at the back of your skull or queasiness in your stomach. Only it is not your physical body that is the source of the sensations. Your hands start shaking, and you close your eyes for a moment as vertigo washes over you.

Eyes closed, you recognize the sensation for what it is - a disturbance in the Force. Even though you were not looking, you seem to understand that what you are feeling is Collan feeling pain strong enough that you feel it's shadow through the Force.

He must be in terrible agony.

Your breath starts to come in gasps and you start sweating, but the feeling goes on and on and it feels like a splinter in your mind that you cannot remove.

[to be continued, but feel free to post a reaction. Niil is not even trying to sense Collan, yet he cannot help but feel this. It bleeds over into his conscious mind whether he wills it or not.]

Niil fought the urge to vomit as a part of Collan's agony mercilessly borrowed into his own consciousness.  You told Ch'lana that you willingly accepted the calling of a Jedi . . . well, Niil, here's a small taste of the cost, he thought bitterly.  He involuntarily tugged at his manacles in frustration, and all he got for his effort was a jolt of pain.  He angrily shook his head from side to side to try and clear the sweat away from his face, but even that attempt was again mocked by the pain inducers.

Focus, Niil.  Concentrate.  Get these stupid manacles and your own emotions under control.  There's nothing you can do for him right now.  Patience.  Wait for the right moment.

OOC:  Niil's not going to bother to downplay his own pain for any surveillance that might be monitoring him.  In fact, he'll try make it look like it's a bit worse than it actually is.  Niil will carry this on for another 3 hours.  If nothing else has happened by then, he's gonna try something.

As you struggle to maintain your control over Collan's torture, the part of you that remains aware starts sending alarm signals. You replay the last few seconds over in your head. Yes, hard to tell through all the distractions, but you think you just heard a blaster shot outside your cell.

Niil grinned despite the pain and nausea coursing through his body.  Unless my senses are being tricked, that's Trax.  Dropping his control for a brief moment, he bellowed, "TRAX!  IN HERE!"

There is more blaster fire. Then someone yells some sort of battle cry. A moment later the same voice yells again, and the blaster fire ceases.

There is silence for a few moments. Then you hear Nightshade's voice on the other side of the door.

"How do you know Trax?"

Niil chuckled despite the pain lancing through him.  "I've known and fought along side that stubborn bugger since Karvis.  You I met in the Bladesea while we were tangling with a bounty hunter team.  It's me, sensei.  Niil."
