She looked genuinely confused and caught off guard as he extended his hand. She thought it weird that he would want to shake her hand.....but she supposed she was game if that's what he wanted to do....
But then she remembered that she was still holding onto his pistol.
She let out a short giggle. "Oops."
She handed the pistol back to him.
"Same time tomorrow.", she replied.
She watched him go, still sitting on the bed kicking her feet for several minutes.
Maybe it was okay to actually not be afraid of people. Maybe not everyone was out to hurt her in the end....
A smile formed on her lips as a tentative idea surfaced in her mind. Maybe it was true, the saying that every cloud had a silver lining. She was certainly less miserable now than she had been on either Bakura or in the tender care of the Empire.
She thought back to the Station, to the moment when she had held the pistol to her chin, fully intending to take her own life, not able to bare any more of the pain that she had been forced to live through.
Maybe there IS a such thing as the Force. Maybe there IS a such thing as some higher power watching over us all....
