...And the confused emotions started swirling even faster at Trax's words. Again, this allusion to acceptance...she didn't know what to do with it. She didn't know how to respond to it. It was so...different, and it would take some getting used to. But it also felt...good.
When he changed subjects back to the task at hand Kesh felt some relief and focused on his words.
(OOC: as smoothly as flying through an asteroid field..idk, Han flew through that asteroid field pretty smoothly, didn't he?)
She checked her pistol's setting, confirming that it was on stun, and nodded to Trax, moving up closer to the targets until he motioned to stop.
With a look of focus on her face, she took up a shooting stance, one foot in front of the other, and brought her pistol up, extending her arms out in front of her, gripping the pistol loosely with both hands and aligning the sights on the target, lining the more distant circle up with the front post to complete the "lollipop".
Aiming for "center mass" on the forward facing target, Kesh was about to fire when she froze for a second, her mind flashing back to the last time (and only time) she had shot an unmoving, unaware target. At that time she hadn't known that her blaster was inadvertently set to stun. She had fully intended to kill the man, but fortunately circumstances had other plans. She remembered the feeling inside of her stomach and heart as she thought she had killed the man as he had fallen to the ground. Her hands trembled for a few seconds before she could regain control and her stomach clenched up, threatening to make its displeasure visibly known. She never wanted to repeat that experience again. She wasn't a killer. At least not in cold blood. Defense and protection of others was another story....
She took a slow breath and forced her mind back to the present. This wasn't then. This target was not living. This was practice. She was safe here.
Re-aligning the sight posts she took a slow breath and squeezed the trigger, firing 6 pulses of energy into the target.
However, she squeezed the trigger down a bit too fast and as she did so the front sight post depressed down slightly, causing the shots to be a bit lower and farther to the right than she intended. Her grouping on the target was consistent - 4 out of the 6 shots were very close together, 1 of the outliers hitting the very edge of the target and the other hitting the target in the right shoulder. The 4 others all ended up in the lower abdomen on the target - not necessarily a "kill" shot, but one that would definitely cause the target pain if it had been real.
Finishing up the shots she re-holstered the pistol to make it "safe" and looked over to Trax, waiting to see what he would say.
