Before Atrivis
« on: October 24, 2016, 04:05:43 PM »
Nim strode into their quarters and looked around for Trax, sure he'd have worn a trail into the carpet by now from pacing. Her expression was a mixture of things after the briefing with the General, almost impossible to read. Or maybe after the therapy she had simply regained ability to hide it once again.

'Where you go I go.' was what Trax had said to Nim, and despite them being on a friendly, and supposedly secure ship, he wasn't thrilled at the idea of waiting behind in their quarters.  After the Alliance had put their trust in Galen he didn't really trust anyone.  Yes, it was true he came around in the end, but the cost was...significant.  Waiting out side the door to the meeting would have been more acceptable, but she'd asked him to stay put and so reluctantly he did.

It wasn't too long after she'd left that he'd heard the door open, but it was long enough that he'd probably walked a mile around their quarters and the man had considered going to see what could possibly be taking as long as it did.  He exited the sleeping area, coming into the common room trying to be as casual as he could, but it was obviously forced.

"Well?" he asked, a little more impatiently than intended.

OOC: This is all assuming there isn't anything else in the main thread.

Nim did feel guilty leaving Trax out of the meeting. It wasn't fair to him, not after all he's done. But the important thing was that he was able to still accompany her on the missions and she didn't have to withhold anything from him. Missing out on a meeting here and there was a very small price to pay for such freedom without feeling he needed to sell his soul too.

Be calm, be cool. Don't give in to guilt. It'll just give him more incentive to act like that.

Nim kept walking through the room and sat down at the computer terminal and hit a few screens before turning to Trax.

"We are heading back to the outer rim to try and negotiate neighborly planetary cooperation ahead of an imminent Imperial attack."

Nim's words caught the man completely by surprise.  The unease and impatience that he'd been feeling up until then had vanished, replaced by a mix of confusion and disbelief that was visible on his face, and in those subtle mannerisms Nim picked up on so very easily.

"They're sending us on a political mission?!"

She nodded. "You could say that. These two planets managed to kick out the Imperials and are now setting the example for a dozen others in revolt. But the Imperials will respond, and without assistance their own rebellion will show everyone that it is futile to try. So if we can get them to cooperate with each other and sign on to the Alliance, we can send aid to keep them from falling and add more worlds to our metagame."

Trax took a moment to process the plan.  He wasn't a politician, diplomat, or whatever this mission called for.  But technically he wasn't being sent, Nim was.  That was a good thing.  That's when a thought hit him and he lowered his head and gaze slightly.  Nim could see that he was going over something in his head.

Aid on the condition that they work together and sign up...a little on the heavy handed side isn't it?  Agree to our terms and we'll help, don't agree and we'll let the Imperials make an example out of you...

He looked back up at the woman.

"Not sure if that approach would work with me but I'm not the expert.  When do we leave?"

Nim looked at her wristcomp out of sheer habit but had the answer blitzed into her mind faster than her eye could even move.

"Little under 6 hours. We've got a shuttle and pilot. Let's put together an equipment list and assuming they have anything it'll be on the shuttle when we take off."

Ooc: I think our final list is on the ooc thread. I don't have much left for this convo.

Looks good to me. I assume the only things I lost at the station was the rifle Nim was firing with at the end and the standard she lent to Danny when Danny went down?

Are the shield generators coming with us as well as the techs?

Not the techs, but the generators yes. A show of good faith. The techs can be there in a week if they want the assist.

Well a dedicated ship. And the shield is actually fairly compact until it is assembled.
