Nim was half-tempted to simply say “tough” but bit her tongue. She wasn’t sure if it was more out of respect or she wanted to calm his fears. Either way she was getting softer the more she had to deal with people on a personal basis. Selling to strangers came a hell of a lot easier it seemed.
“Right, well, according to Alliance Intel, there's a lot less Jedi than there used to be. The Empire only has so many. Some will be guarding their important assets, like apparently Horuz, and won't be weakening those defenses for a planetary rebellion. Or if they are, there's a dozen other planets up in arms that'll split more up. Others would be hunting those that escaped Horuz - us anyway - some still hunting Order 66 escapees, and further, hunting people like the wonder twins. We never even looked up Collan. With his so-called daddy issues he might have far worse coming after him than anyone else. For all we know he might have all of them on his ass now.”
“Besides. Maris isn’t hanging out with us just for funsies. This,” she gestured to the three of them, “is a team. A well-rounded team. I’ve seen the both of you in person and on camera, and I’m fairly sure that we can handle most things thrown at us. And we are absolutely not required to take on anything. If osik hits the fan, we bail, regroup, wait for further orders. We’re bringing a defense shield with us as a good faith gesture, not an entire fleet.”
“And just to make sure we’re all on the same page, you and I are the public face, I’m the Alliance rep. She does exactly what she knows how to do- everything and everywhere that we can’t, without being seen with us. With Buzz’s new AI I don’t have to control him all the time and we can be with her without being present. This mission is to sell a bunch of rebels on the Alliance. We need much more info than what they’re going to give us in order to get them all to play nice and agree.”
