Nim and Trax: Drinks with Doha
« on: July 08, 2015, 03:00:42 PM »
You and Doha head down to the attached Cantina. He is careful to stay clear of outside windows and such. He picks a table in a secluded corner, and orders up a pair of Corellian brandies.

Taking a sip from one, he clearly enjoys it.

He seems a little apprehensive, and his eyes stray constantly to the door, the windows, the other patrons. You notice one hand stays close to his weapon. This is a man on the run, and used to being so.

After he swallow he smiles at you. "Trax seems to think we have something to talk about."

Nim passively studied the man over the top of her brandy. ?You look like you?ve needed one,? she said, gently nodding to his glass and swirling the liquid in hers. ?Reports sound like your pleasure cruise didn?t go so well.?

He laughs once, short and bitter. "Yeah, it wasn't quite how the adds depicted it." He then downs his glass in one pull and refills it from the bottle.

There are a lot of mental scars there. You can also read in him that he is a man who has prepared several contingencies that will ensure he is never captured alive again.

"Trax wants us to play nice, and I'm inclined to follow his lead. So, while I fully recognize that I'm not holding very many in this game, how about we put our cards on the table? If you know about my recent 'cruise' then you know a fair bit about me already. Show me your hand, and I'll fill in the gaps."

The woman studied him for a moment longer, idly tapped her glass a few times before setting it down. She leaned back in the booth and lit a cigarette, offering one to Wyrren. ?If we are to sit and talk intimately of ourselves, I ought to have a name to call you by, no? You already have mine. As well as what I do, where I work, where I live... I would say that you know a fair bit about me already as well, and I have yet to open my mouth."

She did feel a bit unnerved that Trax had been so liberal with her information, particularly with the woman named Rand.

OOC: She?s looking for just some name, obviously not his real one.

He takes the cigarette, and accepts a light, and takes a deep drag.

"Call me Tobias," he says as he blows smoke.

?Alright, Tobias.?

She tapped ashes in a nearby tray.

"Trax paid me to look into your business. You're on the senator's payroll. That's public knowledge. Your family has a long history of service to his. He is rather very vocal on his political stance, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out where your loyalties lie or are expected to be.

?Oh, coincidentally, he was captured recently by 'criminals,'" She air-quoted the word and the next, "and 'saved' by an Imperial agent that I've been keeping tabs on. But that's neither here nor there, just thought it was interesting and related.

?Anyway. There was a recent large-scale mobilization of the Imperial fleet in the Bruanii sector. I don?t have official reports on your arrest, but I?ve found data linking you to a recent unification of dissident rebels on Corellia.

?Last report puts you on your cruise, making the rounds through said sector. That pleasure yacht just happened to go missing for several hours, along with the ?vette that was escorting it. It showed up under tow later, heavily damaged. Official reports claim the ship was damaged en-route to the next destination by a hyperdrive failure. However, eyewitness reports only attribute some damage to internal explosions - there was also evidence of turbolaser fire.

?There was no sign of the escort ship. And I found nothing that indicates friends and family are looking for you.?

She took another drag. ?But my usual disclaimer, is that it is only rumor and conjecture unless I have the proper amount of time to deem it otherwise.?

He follows what you say with a raised eyebrow. When you mention the Senator being captured, then freed, he works hard to keep a studied air of disinterest, but subtle clues tell you his brain is on fire with that news.

When you're done, eh takes a drag on his cigarette. "You're good, I'll give you that. Some of that wouldn't even be accessible on public data." He looks at you slyly, and you can tell he wants to ask many questions, but is concerned with revealing too much to you. In the end, his burning concern for his patron brushes asside his caution.

"What Imperial agent would free the Senator?"

The woman poured more brandy in both of their glasses and picked hers up for a sip. She steadied her other elbow on the table and held the cigarette femininely between two fingers as she coyly smiled at Wyrren.

"The information I have given you cost Trax 500 credits. Well. 509 if you count the cigarettes owed. How much is a name worth to you?" She raised her eyebrows and took another sip, glancing over her glass to him. Nim had been forthcoming with details thus far so she may or may not be serious. She is, however, relaxed.

He puts his hands on the table, palm up. "Until recently, I was a guest of the Empire. I have nothing to pay you with. Even my gun is borrowed. I had to pay for the drinks with credits I borrowed from Rand."

He's sincere, but a little guarded.

"Ohh good. Like that woman needed another reason to not like me," she muttered. "Trax is borrowing my Renegades. I don't think I've seen a man so happy in my life. Well, as 'happy' as one like him can or is willing show it."

Nim discarded her cigarette, set down the glass, and quite casually placed her palms on top of his on the table like it was the most natural thing.

"Listen, Trax hasn't given me the rundown on you or anything, but after having to do the research it's pretty clear. Which is why I passed up a significant sum of credits just for the chance to meet you. That's pretty much a cardinal sin in my industry but once I knew Trax had access I had to do it before I lost the chance. And frankly, just looking at you I can see that you've been through all nine Corellian hells and back."

"Soo.. I'm not here to scalp you. The agent's name is Starkiller."

You can tell he is making an effort to sear that into his memory.

"Thanks, Nim. I can't imagine why an Imperial agent would rescue the senator, but I've got a feeling it can't be for a good reason."

?Heh.. as far as I can tell, he's been doing wetwork for his patron Lord, getting rid of political rivals and the like. Helping the senator might be an attempt to gain an ally. But it's like taking out a loan with a crime lord.. the debt is never paid."

His frown deepens. "All the more reason for this meeting to take place soon. If the Senator did fall in with an Imperial agent, I doubt he knows. He's not that careless. I'll need to warn him, or a lot of people will suffer."

?Sorry, I don?t know anything about the meeting. You don't have to say anything, I'm just letting you know. Trax hasn?t told me anything, period, but I've not asked, either. I just did the research and made a lot of assumptions."

He eyes you. "You're pretty shrewd about those assumptions. If Trax hasn't shared that detail with you, neither will I - except to say that I'm working as something of an ambassador for the Senator. He and a few other like-minded individuals are trying to build something important. An alliance of sorts. That's how I got caught, if you take my meaning. But it all turned out on the end - I ended up on Karvis and found potential allies there. If this meeting goes well, we'll all be a lot better off."
