Collan, Nightshade, Nill, Nim, Trax: Raid on Horuz

[Niil Spaar]

What the hell was that?  Niil plastered himself against the nearest stanchion, and cursed as the fog filled the corridor.  One whiff of it set Niil to coughing, so he ripped out his breath mask and hastily pulled it over his face.  Once it was in place, he trained his rifle back down the corridor, but the fog completely obscured the stormtroopers.

Well, let's try to take advantage of this.  Niil peeled himself away from the stanchion, hunkered down into a near-crouch, and moved forward, keeping to the wall.  His weapon trained and ready to fire at the first sign of the enemy, he activated his comm and whispered, "Keshani . . . Keshani, this is Niil.  What happened?  Are you all right?  Talk to me here!"

[Keshani]

"I'm fine", came the reply back, although the response was a little slow in coming. Her tone carried with it frustration and stress but there was something else there, as well. Her voice sounded a little....off - as if she were a little groggy.

"I'll be at the other end in a minute."

[Nightshade]

Moving swiftly and silently through years of practice, Nightshade continued to slide up to his enemies, readying his swords for the chance to strike.

Actions: sneak, attack target of opportunity if one gets in range, reac dodge

[Trax]

The explosion and subsequent fire suppressant that began to fill the corridor caused Trax to stop short.

"What the..." he mumbled wondering what was going on.  None of them were in position to make sure the troopers didn't target Keshani, why had she blown the ceiling already?

Sticking the blaster in his right hand under his left to hold it a moment he pulled a rebreather out of his pocket and popped it into his mouth.  Readying his blaster again he continued to move down the corridor.

[OOC: If readying the rebreather and holding/readying the blaster would be 2 actions then double move down the corridor.  If it's 3 actions then a single move.]

Those of you linked with Keshani hear her whisper "Frell," followed a moment later by "Fraking Gods with your cursed sense of humor!" [sic]

She sounds in pain.

[Nim Naja]

"Hail..the..Maker.." replied a hypnotic, monotone.

[Collan]

Collan popped on his breath mask as well. Nightshade on left went through his mind repeatedly.

Into his com, he asked, "Keshani...your status?"

He was going to pick his way through the mist and close under cover to drop the troopers.

[Keshani]

There was an audible pause over the commlink and then you could hear the girl taking a breath.

"I'm fine." She repeated again, this time with a bit more fire and stubbornness evident in her voice.

[GM Craig]

Things progress quickly.

With the troops unable to see their targets, the blaster fire becomes a lot more erratic. Ch'lana rolls to the left and comes up in a run towards the troopers. Trax quickly pops in a rebreather and runs forward. Niil continues to dodge from support to support as he carefully moves forward, and Collan runs forward through the mist, taking advantage of the concealment.

Blaster shots continue to fly down the passage, but they are little threat, since the troopers are fighting blind.

Up in the ducting, Keshani has reached the diffuser.

[Actions?]

Keshani can quietly open the diffuser and start dropping grenades (as an extra action) or she can just smash it out and let it fall.

Crawling through the remainder of the duct as fast as she could while trying her best to ignore the pain in her legs and the ringing that still was echoing through her ears she couldn't help but let a small smile of satisfaction and anticipation tug at the corners of her lips. She had made it...

Quietly working to open the grate on the diffuser she reached for the grenades, ready to drop them on the stormies.

At the last minute she hesitated, remembering the others below.

She triggered the commlink.

"You guys ready?", she asked quietly

[Niil Spaar]

Niil eyed the corridor down the sights of his blaster rifle, but let out a small sigh.  All he could see were wild blaster bolts, but no targets.  And he wasn't about to fire blindly for fear of hitting his own friends.  Moving forward to the next stanchion, he replied to Keshani, "Clear here, Keshani.  Trax?  Ch'lana?  Nightshade?"

[Nightshade]

"I am ready."  Nightshade waits for the flash of the grenades, looking to use the distraction to let him close quickly and unnoticed.

Actions: Once grenades go off, move to get closest trooper in range of swords and skewer him, reac dodge

[Trax]

Trax waded deeper into the fog, but more cautiously now, and looking for targets.  The troopers were nicely grouped together, if he could pinpoint the initial glow from a plasma bolt leaving a rifle, he'd have a good sense of where to aim.

[OOC: If Trax can get a sense of where one or more of the troopers are, he'll take 2 shots.

RB: 23, LB: 22 if I get the shots off.]

[Keshani]

The girl hesitated. She had heard Niil reply back that things were clear and she had heard another voice respond back, as well. But she hadn't heard anyone else.

Was she supposed to go? She wasn't sure who all had a commlink down there. She couldn't remember who she was supposed to wait to hear from...

For a moment in her mind's eye she saw an image of the others as they lay unconscious on the deck, caught by the blast of the stun grenade and she almost panicked. She didn't know what to do.

She looked down through the opening to the duct. She knew the heads of the white armoured stormies were just below.

That small smile tugged back at the corners of her mouth again and her hands found purchase on the grenades.

They knew she was up here. Hopefully they weren't within range...

<Actions: drop grenades on stormies' heads>

[GM Craig]

In the sudden fog, it is easy to loose track of where everyone is. But two things stand out. Ch'lana's sabre shines like a lantern in the mist, and the blaster shots of the trooper are easy to trace back.

The Jedi continues to move forward slowly, but his defence is much easier now.

Collan slips on a rebreather and scurries forward, taking cover behind the next structural support. Niil Spaar takes a break from his advance to fire off a shot, but does not see if he hit or not due to the poor visibility.

Nightshade, having been moving quickly up the left side, sees a barricade loom out of the mist. He crouches here, waiting for the grenades to go off, confident he will be shielded by the barricade. Standing over him, two stormtroopers are firing at Ch'lana, completely unaware that death crouches in front of them.

Kehsani quickly activates the grenades and places them on the diffuser. She then quickly pops the release, and the diffuser falls away, landing in the middle of the troopers with a loud clang.

A moment later there is a triple flash of blue lightning, accompanied by synthesized screams.

Nightshade is moving before the lighting has even faded, and runs both troopers through with his blades. They were likely dead before they knew what had killed them.

Trax runs forward the last few steps to find many troopers prone on the ground. He points his pistols at the nearest two helmets and activates the firing studs, blowing holes clean through the helmets.
