Saying Goodbye
« on: October 08, 2016, 01:24:57 PM »
In the craziness of everything that had happened, Kesh almost forgot to find Trax to say goodbye. Part of her was tempted to leave without saying anything to him, still feeling a bit....sore....at him going off with Nim and insisting that she stay behind, but she couldn't quite do it.

So she went poking around the palace looking for him to let him know he was leaving....

Trax was walking down the hall, just coming from having his arm replaced.  It was odd, he'd gotten so used to the lack of sensation from the old prosthetic that this new one seemed hyper sensitive.  He was looking down at his hand, squeezing it and moving his fingers when he rounded the corner and bumped into Kesh, nearly sending her to the ground.  The man quickly reached out and caught her.

"Sorry, guess I should be paying more attention to where I'm going."

[OOC: Kesh will notice that his left arm is no longer wrapped and he's not wearing a glove on his hand.]

Speak of the.....

"Oof".

She flinched slightly at Trax's hand - a pure instinct reaction to ANYONE touching her - but it went away quickly.

But with that she noticed that the hand he reached out with was no longer gloved. He had said that he had a wound that wouldn't heal.

It seemed that now it had...

"Your arm looks better...", she commented off-handedly as she found her balance again.

"Maybe you need to get your eyes fixed next", she couldn't help but retort. But she flashed him a small grin, making sure he knew she was teasing.

Trax smiled a crooked smile and let out a small chuckle.

"Or you could put a bell on or something so people know you're coming around the corner." he shot back.

She snorted. "Maybe I like to sneak up on people..."

"Um. Actually I was looking for you." she said. She started to talk but then stopped. It was harder than she thought it would be to say goodbye even though Trax had made it clear that she wouldn't be going with him and Nim...

"I...uh, wanted to say goodbye."

She bit her lip a bit, suddenly afraid she would start to cry.

Grow up, girl!, she scolded herself silently...

"Oh." Trax said, his tone indicating he was surprised.  He'd hoped the young girl would hang around on Alderaan, it was by far one of the better planets he'd been on and it seemed like the perfect place to actually be able to live one's life in relative peace.

"Where you heading?"

"I...uh....well, I'm not sure yet. Somewhere to help set up a new base". She shrugged hesitantly, suddenly feeling nervous for Trax's reaction.

"I'd honestly prefer if you'd have chosen to stick around here, but it's not about what I want.  You've got a lot of great skills that will help them a lot, they're lucky to have you.

And who knows, we might even meet up again in the very near future.  Nim is staying around to help when she's healthy enough, not sure where they'll send her.  Which means I'll be sticking around to help out too.  It'll be interesting to see how happy they are about that."

She felt deflated for a few seconds at his words. Had she based her decision to go help the Rebellion on the fact that Trax and Nim were going to go off to who knows where and do who knows what without her anyway?

But now they weren't.

She scuffed at the floor in front of her for a few seconds, lost in thought.

But then the image of the statue in the lobby of the Palace came back to her mind and she mentally shook her head.

No, she had decided to do this to help. She may be one screwed up kid, but she could maybe help other kids from not getting as screwed up as she had....

"It would be nice to see you again." she said softly, those tears fighting to resurface in her eyes and fighting to keep them back.

Trax looked at the girl, her reply had made him curious.  Had she thought they would never see each other again?

"No matter what path you, or I, decided to take, we would have seen each other again.  It'd just been a little bigger absence had I gone with my original plan.  Nim can do way too much good for them, it wouldn't be fair for me to try to keep her away."

"Is she feeling better?" the girl asked, her expression curious. She still didn't know for sure what was wrong with Nim, but she had her hunches....

"She is." Trax began.

"And how are you doing?  I guess with you heading out soon you won't have to put up with these sorry accommodations anymore." The man joked as he indicated the palace.

"Yeah...pretty sure it's gonna be back to sleeping on the ground again. Kinda used to that though." She shrugged.

"Have you seen the statue in the entranceway??
