8-9 men in a squad, 4 squads to a platoon, 4 platoons (plus an HQ squad) per company.

Not to get into too much detail, but occasionally a platoon will have integral armoured support instead of a heavy weapons squad. Also, recon platoons will not have a heavy weapons squad, instead opting for four infantry squads.

None of this applies to Stormtroopers: their order of battle and organization is completely different.

Just wanted to get a sense of what the odds against them were.

If they ambushed a squad, they could use their uniforms etc to try and infiltrate the base, secure some of the walkers (and disable the others) and launch an assault on the base itself.  There will likely be some transports etc there, which would help them get everyone to either of the fallback points.

Now dealing with the tie's is a little more tricky, I guess they'd have to disable the comms before they attack to keep them from being called in.

I bet the platoon's base has plenty of medical supplies...just sayin'.  ;)

What are the odds Collan and/or Niil could put together a jamming device with what's available?

There's not a lot of supplies for that sort of thing. The thing about a jammer is it either needs a specific target, or a fair bit of power. They don't have any communications gear here they could use.

You'd need some higher power communications gear to do that. Unless you were going to try tapping into the Imperial communications network?

Better comm gear was primary, and hacking the Imperial comm net was secondary, yeah.  I'd also like to go over the lieutenant's datapad again and see if it showed any other rebel cells/bunkers nearby, or anything that could help us . . . comm towers, outposts, power plants, etc etc.

Say . . . I know its a long shot, but it is possible to jury-rig Collan's training saber to recharge power packs?

That would be a no on the recharging. Lightsabers are not an endless source of power. They operate on, effectively, high capacity batteries. To charge a blaster pack, he would drain his sabre, even if he could figure out how to wire them up properly.

I also always considered blaster power packs to effectively be clips as well. They contain gas charges and power to create a plasma bolt.

I suspected as much.   ;)

Sorry for being dense, just wanted to clarify . . . "Monitored in the clear" means safe?

No, it means assume that your communications are being monitored and the encryption broken.

Sorta like broadcasting in the clear. You only do that with code phrases.

". . . do we have any skilled shuttle pilots here?  And when I mean skilled, I mean capable of performing high-speed nape-of-earth flying while weaving around hilly terrain."

Vesen shakes his head. "We're all techs or ground-pounders. The closest we have is Alix - she was just an airspeeder pilot."

 ;D

Niil's face remained impassive as he nodded.  He glanced at his chronometer and said, "Excuse me for a moment.  I'll be right back."  Niil slipped into an adjoining chamber and trudged over to the nearest support beam.  Grinning broadly, he gripped the beam with both hands and . . .
