Concentrating on the sounds their words Collan tries to call on the Force to gain a sense of their language.

He made a motion for them to repeat what they said, a circular hand motion that seemed common to the whole galaxy...'keep going.'

"Please say again?" Collan asked.

Niil couldn't understand the language, but heard and saw the four individuals appear behind them well enough.  "No idea what they're saying.  Four more behind us," he muttered softly and slowly turned sideways so that he could keep watch over both groups.  He kept his posture as non-aggressive as possible, and put on a serene smile as he bowed his head to the newcomers.

Well, we might not understand what they're saying, but maybe they speak another language common to the both of us? Niil shrugged and slowly replied in Rodian to the group of four, "<Ummm . . . I am sorry, but we do not understand the language you speak.  Do you speak Rodian?>"

The one speaking before cocks his head and says something that sounds somehow final.

"Retarro. Reek'yem."

Two from each group step forward and lay hands on you.

[Actions?]

They seem somehow displeased with you, but not openly aggressive or violent. They're definitely ready trouble though.

Well, they haven't shoved spears into us, or beaten us into jelly.  Let's try to not give them a reason to, Niiil thought.  He didn't resist when two of them - he assumed that their names were Retarro and Reek'yem - put their hands on him, and he was careful to keep his hands at his sides.  Looking at both of his detainees, he gave them a silent nod as if to convey, you'll have no trouble from me.

Collan pointed to himself, "Collan."

Then to Niil, "Niil."

The primitives ignore you. For each of you, one of them stands guard with a spear ready while the other starts searching your person. Very quickly they find Collan's polesabre. The individual searching Collan removes the weapon and displays it to the apparent leader. He seems extremely unhappy, and the mood of the others clearly changes towards the hostile end of the spectrum.

"Yetae retarra..." he says, and spits on the ground. "Y nolest ricar."

The searchers move on to your backs and cases. They are apparently uninterested in the shield or the power generator. But within your kit bags, they quickly produce your blasters. This prompts hisses from the natives, and the mood slides significantly towards the hostile end of angry.

"Retara! Taw de ut vae o ya ro utfera!" He is clearly angry. He shakes his spear at you both. "Kees!"

(OOC:  Actually, Niil decided to leave the blasters on board the ship . . . see Dec. 19 post by Niil (reply # 85) on this thread in his OOC comment.  Unless Navara stuck them in there?)

"We probably should have disassembled our weapons," Collan noted to Niil, "I get the feeling they don't like Jedi either. Which is odd...given their ancestors were Jedi. I still can't get a handle on their language..."

Reek'yem? Context suggested search them or hold them. Retarro. Retarra. Retara. Conjugated verbs? Possible.

Kees? Could that mean forbidden? Deju? That was fairly close to Jedi. It could have been corrupted over time.

Collan looked towards the saber and tried to point at it.

"Deju? Kees?" He said as he did so.

He takes the saberstaff and shakes it at you. "Si i e licar fe eh Deju! Si i e loy licar!" he lowers it, and hands it carefully to one of the others. "Wo mece ut o vae si?"

One of the others, a female, places a hand on the shoulder of the leader. He glances at her angrily, but says nothing as she steps forward.

She places a hand against her chest and says, "Sibara." She then nods her head as if in greeting. She points to Collan and says, "Co-lan?"

She steps forward and slowly reaches out a hand towards Calland's head, tentatively - as if she were asking permission.

OOC:  If I can get this in right after Collan's post . . .

Niil's eyes widened in alarm as he saw the blasters stuffed inside the kit bags, and shook his head.  "I didn't put them in there! I left them on board . . . oh, that idiot pilot.  And idiot me for not double-checking our stuff after he took off."

Niil looked up at the infuriated native, and shook his head vehemently.  Slowly, and calmly, he said, "We did not put these in there."  He pointed to himself and Collan, then the blasters, and shook his head.  He then pointed back to the plateau where they'd first landed, and mimed a ship landing.  "The stupid pilot put them in there."  He mimed a man controlling a steering wheel, then tossing two blasters into the kit.  Pointing again at himself, Collan and the blasters, he shook his head.  "Not us.  The pilot."

Collan patted his chest, "Collan."

Then he pointed at Sibara, "Sibara."

Collan bent over a little bit to let Sibara touch his head. It seemed likely she was a Force Sensitive and possibly could access memories or knowledge. Deju clearly seemed to mean Jedi. And it was not good.

As he bent over, Collan reached out his senses to see if he could feel the Force in this woman.
