Collan said, "It's the old Jedi library world. It was destroyed like...4000 years ago. The only beings on it are descendants of Jedi who survive the nova that swept over it...the Ysarra...or something like that."

Niil abruptly froze as he was removing his flight suit, and he stumbled.  His eyebrows would have flown straight off of his forehead and into the ceiling if they weren't already firmly attached.  "Now what in hell does the General have planned for us there?"  Countless ideas flashed through his mind, but he irritably slapped them down.  In due time, Niil.

He finally succeeded in removing his flight suit, and started putting on his grounder's gear.  He glanced at the pilot, but suspected the Zabrak would't explain the mission to them until he was damn good and ready to say something.

"My guess is that it's something only a nascent Jedi can handle or might be able to handle," Collan replied.

Niil snorted.  "Apparently we've a long way to go in that department."  He finished donning his grounder clothes, and stored his flight suit away.  The hell with this.  He turned to the pilot and said, "So, ensign Navarra . . . how long until our briefing?"

He shrugs. "You're asking like I have anything to do with it. I'm just the taxi, boyo. I don't give a frak what you guys do on Ossus. Hell, I didn't even know Osus existed until I saw the flight plan."

Niil looked at Collan, puzzled, then looked back at the pilot.  "Hnh.  The el-tee told us we'd be briefed on our mission on the way . . ."  He shrugged.  "So how long will we be in transit?"

Six days, eh?  Let's see just how anti-social this guy is . . . "Ensign . . . I don't suppose you'd be willing to help me bone up on some rusty to non-existent skills during those six days, would you?  See, most of the stuff we were doing on Karvis Three was dirtside.  The Imps had spy-sats and TIE patrols everywhere, so most of our travel on-planet was with wheeled vehicles and repulsor craft."

He rapped a knuckle against the shuttle's hull.  "I'd rather know how to operate one of these myself  - properly - than have to pull someone else off the line to take us somewhere."

The zabrak turns his chair now.

"Look. I ain't your babysitter and I ain't here to teach you. I'm here to fly this ship to and from Ossus. Part of that is dropping off some noisy, smelly cargo that won't shut the hell up. We're six days from Ossus. I park for max five days. Then I take off, with or without you. That's the full extent of our interaction, got it? You. Are. Cargo. This whole trip will be a whole lot more palatable if you acted like it."

Collan turned a gimlet stare towards the cockpit. No way. Kota's militia was buttoned up like an Imperial stuffed shirt trying to impress his superiors. This was another test. The question was: what were the constraints? What was Kota after?

All right Collan. Break the problem apart.

Part the first: we were given 15 minutes notice about dust off.
Part the second: the eltee said we'd be briefed in flight
Part the third: Navarro says he knows nothing and didn't even know Ossus existed
Part the fourth: it's a six day trip in a cramped and confined space with a surly, cantankerous pilot
Part the fifth: they had two heavy crated they had to load

So what were the possibities?

1. Real mission but This was a charlie foxtrot. No one communicated properly and everything went drek.
2. Real mission. Navarro is supposed to withhold info.
3. Real mission but we have to dig it up ourselves.
4. Fake mission.

Number four was wasteful and it struck Collan as out of character for Kota. So it seemed very unlikely. Likewise, number one: the Milita seemed pretty buttoned up and regular order so a charlie foxtrot seemed unlikely. That left numbers two and three. Given Kota's tirade, he seemed to be in strong favor of self-reliance. Why tell when you can make someone figure it out for themselves.

Navarro's comments about the flight plan hit him. He didn't know Ossus existed till he saw the flight plan. Which meant he hadn't created the flight plan.

"Ensign...where did you see the flight plan first?" Collan asked.

Niil glanced at Collan, then the pilot, and his eyes narrowed.  Rising from his seat, Niil went over to visually inspect the crates they'd hauled aboard.  You'll have some time to contemplate the advantages of broadening your skillset on the trip I'm sending you on, Kota had said to them.

As he crouched down to look at the crates, he said, "Collan, what can you tell me about this planet we're headed to?  As far back as you can recall its history until the most recent."

OOC:  Carefully checking out the crates without actually opening them for starters.

"Trying to solve a puzzle, Navarra, trying to solve a puzzle," Collan replied, "We were all treated like mushrooms. You worst of us; you got stuck with our smiling faces."

"Were the coordinates pre-loaded into the navicomp when you came on board?"
