Niil took the pack with a free hand, and placed his other on the back of Zenia's shoulder. Leaning forward, he lowered his head slightly and gently pressed his forehead against hers. With a faint smile, he said, "<I will never forget our tribe. Especially not you, Zenia. And I could never regret my time here; too many good memories. May the Force be with you, Zenia. Always.>" He hesitated, then added, "<And . . . I do think it's the Force's will that we'll see each other again.>"
He started to don his pack and stopped halfway through slinging the last strap over his shoulder. "<Wait.>" He reached over and unzipped the pack and rooted around for a few moments before carefully pulling out a small, lacquered black case. There were a few small scuffs, but despite the few flaws it was clear that the case was very well-cared for. Stylized silver-inlaid lettering on the case spelled "N. Spaar", and was polished to a luster. He flicked the latches open, and opened the case to reveal a pair of macro-binoculars inside. He carefully withdrew them from the case and held them in both hands as he looked at them. A few nicks and scrapes could be seen on the matte-black surface, but otherwise they functioned as well as if they'd just come off of the assembly line.
"<I've had these for years, Zenia. My parents gave them to me as a graduation gift. They've saved my life many times by helping me see danger before it saw me. And I'd like to think that they've helped save the lives of my comrades more than once . . . comrades that I looked upon as family.>"
He placed them carefully back in the case and closed the latches before tentatively offering them to her. "<I'd like you to have them, Zenia, if you'd not consider such a gift inappropriate or insulting. I feel the Dark Side influencing the hostile tribe, and until the balance to the Force can be restored, please . . . let these help to keep you safe as they helped me. And for the safety of our tribe.>"
